Rustins Quick Drying Polyurethane Satin Clear Varnish, 250ml (8.5 fl oz)

Great so far. I used it on a homemade wooden train for my toddler, which I’d painted with acrylic paints. I made sure to leave plenty of time for the acrylic to dry, then applied three coats according to the varnish instructions. It dried to a nice hard finish and is now protecting the acrylic paint from rubbing off. You can’t even tell it’s been coated with varnish—it looks just like it did with only the acrylic paint. The colours still look great. I also only needed the smallest amount, so I wish they made even smaller tins; this one will last a long time! I also looked into whether it was suitable for children’s toys. ChatGPT found multiple retailer listings stating that it conforms to BS EN 71 Part 3 (Toy Safety), but it could not verify that claim from any official Rustins technical documentation. If toy safety certification is important to you, I’d recommend doing your own checks too.

This is fantastic if you are a embroidery artist and need to protect your fabric from the acids is natural wood leaching out to destroy natural fabric. This drys very fast allowing you to recoat after two hours. I highly recommend this product and a little goes a long way. Easy application very low odor and perfectly clear

Only reason this Varnish didn't receive a 5 star rating was because when I opened the varnish smelt like pure FISH and the worst kind, thank god once dried the smell disappeared but I used a liberon bees wax on the oak afterwards just incase as the wax has a lovely earthy smell. The substance in tin was milky white but I was told by the seller that was normal very strange. Quick drying and leaves a waterproof non shiny finish exactly what I needed for my new oak dining table and bench to save me damaging the wood 🪵 with water and cleaning products. My furniture only took one coat and you get plenty. Varnish is like water spreads very well only need a little bit. Great quantity for such a small tin so great value for money.

This varnish appears to be white but it is clear when applied. Use very sparingly as an overloaded brush will drip. The varnish is very easy to apply and goes a long way. I varnished a small table twice and the level in the tin barely went down. It dries very quickly and there is hardly any smell. I would definitely buy this again.

Great product! Very smooth texture and easy to apply. And each coat was completely dry within 10-15 minutes. I chose the satin finish and the results were as promised. Very low odor and water soluble, so clean up with a breeze.
