As a lot of other reviewers have already stated these microphones are unbelievably good value and are of a very high quality. What’s not to like!

Very pleased with purchase

Why did you choose this product over others?: These are relatively cheap lav mikes, that I planned to use as a stop gap for a stage production (the original Rode mikes I was going to use were elsewhere, and these were cheaper than the fuel cost to go and collect them) I was using multiple different wireless systems, ie different eras of Rode systems, SubZero branded systems and a generic Synco branded stereo system. The lavs worked well enough for voice with the Rode and SubZero systems, but when plugged in to the Synco there was a constant mid frequency noise that rendered them unusable. So, beware of which systems you are planning to use them with. They seem good enough for quality wireless and for wired applications, but may not be ok if you are using low cost hardware.

Such a great value for money at the current price ($10/2pk) that it's hard to be disappointed. The audio quality for voice recording is really fantastic, and the mic is sensitive enough to pick up speech from enough distance that placement isn't really of much concern. With a couple limitations I'll outline next, you really can't go wrong with these. As for the drawbacks, if you're using them with a device like a cell phone, where you would like audio output from your device, you will either need a headset+mic to mic only adapter, or to dig around your device settings to change the audio output - which not all devices have this setting for wired headphones. These lav mics are three-wire, so they activate the headphone output of the 3.5mm jack, which goes nowhere unless you have a lav receiver that accounts for it. Just something to be aware of. Also, the mic response window is tuned for voice, and has trouble picking up lower tones. I was able to clip below the sensitivity range with my own voice if I dropped low enough, so if you've got a really deep voice, these might not work for you. I actually intended to use them to pick up low-freq harmonics (mid-double-digit Hz), but they were completely deaf to the required range. Great for vocal recording, not so great for remote belt tuning. Since I was using them for what was obviously not their intended design purpose, I absolutely won't ding them any points - wrong job for this tool, nothing wrong with the tool itself. I can see why others might take issue with the clips, since they are fairly strong all-metal alligator clips, which could probably damage clothing. I liked them, because they held on strong to the solid surface I was clipping them to. Definitely take into account the material you'll be clipping them onto, and maybe add a little silicone tube around the jaws to lessen the sharp bite. Overall, really fantastic bang-for-buck, provided you're using them for the intended purpose: vocal recording!
