Luckily I haven’t had to use the bear spray yet (and hope I never will!) so I can’t evaluate this product’s effectiveness, but I wanted to give some feedback on the wearability and use. About a month ago we saw a bear on our property when driving in our truck. Although neighbors had reported bear sightings, I had not personally seen one until then. I hike the property a lot so was totally freaked out and wanted some protection. I was looking for something that I could carry comfortably, was EPA approved and was easy to use. This product met all of my needs. The carrying strap was actually pretty cumbersome and I gave up using it, but the product is the right size to fit snuggly into the side pocket of my pants. I also practiced taking the safety clip off and pulling the “trigger” and it was super easy. But it feels very safe when you are walking with it, so no concern about accidental spraying. Overall I’m really pleased with this product-I feel much safer hiking in the woods and just hope I never need to use it!

Haven’t tested it yet. However, it’s a good price for a peace of mind.

Thankfully I haven't run into bears yet to test this, but if I do I'll let you know.

The canister and size is great however the holster won't go around an average person. You would need a small torso. I am hoping I can find a larger one, otherwise it is futile getting the spray that needs to be carried or packed away during a hike. I will check into extensions, but it should be longer and adjustable. You could always cut excess off the straps but can't snap it closed.

10/10 would recommend, but highly suggest going with the chest holster. Inadvertently self-tested by slipping on a wet rock, falling backwards, landing on the can within the hip holster, shearing the nozzle, and eating the entire payload within seconds. The blindness and lake of fire experience will test even the most resilient pain thresholds… bears stand no chance. In the event of self-immolation, soak the affected areas in whole milk for at least 20 min, followed by a cold shower and scrub with dawn dish soap... You’ll thank me later. Semi-reluctantly ordering a replacement because getting mauled still seems worse.

The shoulder strap is way to small to fit over a XL jacket with me in it. Ended up velcroing it to my backpack strap for quick access.
