It can be removed but it's not easy and you'd likely break the plastic clips that hold it on and may not be able to get it back together if needed..

Each helmet has the date of manufacture embossed on the underside of the peak. It is a circular symbol with the month numbers going around the outside (like a clock) then the year and an arrow in the centre. The lifespan of the helmet is 5 years from the date of production as long as the helmet has not been damaged or mistreated in any way.
