Feels substantial
The Klipsch Detroit Bluetooth speaker is an absolute powerhouse and a perfect example of what Klipsch does best—big, bold, high-impact sound in a portable package. From the moment you power it on, you can tell this speaker is built to deliver serious performance, not just background audio. The sound is where the Detroit truly shines. It delivers massive, room-filling volume with deep, punchy bass that you can feel as much as hear. The low-end hits with authority without overwhelming the mids, while vocals and instruments stay clear and present even when the volume is cranked. Whether you’re listening indoors or outdoors, it maintains that signature Klipsch energy—loud, dynamic, and exciting. What really stands out is how effortlessly it handles power. You can push the volume high and it still stays controlled and clean, with no harsh distortion or muddiness. It feels like a mini concert system in a portable form factor, easily outperforming many competitors in its class when it comes to sheer output and presence.(Forbes) Build quality is equally impressive. It feels rugged, solid, and ready for real-world use, whether you’re taking it to a backyard hangout, a beach day, or just moving it around the house. The design is functional but still has that signature Klipsch aesthetic touch that makes it feel premium. If you want a Bluetooth speaker that prioritizes power, volume, and a bold sound signature over everything else, the Klipsch Detroit is an easy recommendation. It doesn’t just play music—it brings it to life with authority and impact.

Makes JBL look like a joke
Awesome speaker. Great sound depth and rich bass. Well balanced sound. Absolutely no rattling or buzzing like I've had with other similar Bluetooth speakers, even at max volume with bass heavy music. Battery life is a lot better than I expected too, at least 16 hours on a full charge at moderate volume (I play rain sounds while I'm sleeping and I've forgotten to plug it in for a few nights in a row). Very solid speaker, it gets a lot of compliments and I recommend it to anyone who asks. Never buying anything but Klipsh going forward!

Nice
The speaker is fine. I'm having problems with some games on Win 11 though. Sound cuts out/pops. Hooked up my Nashville to the computer and it works fine, so it could be the built-in mic with this Detroit model some games have an issue with.

Seriously quality sound even at top volume.
A couple years ago I spilled a 32oz soda under the passenger seat of my car, where the amplifier is. It was ruined, so no more audio. My car is one where everything is all part of the same system, and a replacement would cost me $2400. While I take my time deciding whether it's worth the cost, I wanted to have some tunes in my car. I started with a $30 generic blutooth speaker. Haha, no. I upgraded to a JBL speaker. MUCH better, but still couldn't compete with the road noise and engine noise (mid-engine car, it's right behind the driver and passenger...so LOUD). I really didn't want to spend TOO much more, but when this thing was on sale for black friday I went for it. And can I say, I am SO GLAD I did. The audio quality here is outstanding. Yes, it gets LOUD. Yes, it stays crystal clear even when loud. The only time I've heard poor quality music out of it is when the MP3 files I'm playing are low quality in the first place. I can't wait for summer so I can cruise with the windows down and this thing blasting good tunes!

Klipsch has made the best sounding Bluetooth Portable Speaker
Edited..I dropped it to 3 stars since they are still falsely advertising the battery life. Read below to find out more. Klipsch tech support even verified my findings. If they correct their adds it will go back up a star. Otherwise superb This thing is awesome. Klipsch has almost always pleased the audiophiles and this is no exception. I have never heard a portable Bluetooth speaker that sounds this great. I can only imagine two in stereo. It’s high end sound yet not insanely priced. And it’s loud and clear. At 10 out of 16 volume level sitting on my deck it vibrates the deck and my chair. Sound is perfect. At around 14 you get a warning in the app that this going to get very loud. Is this ok? 🤣🤣. It’s not kidding yet it retains clarity. I was waiting for this to come out. I am glad I did. With that said they have been very misleading with battery life. It will not get near to 21 hours unless you run it constantly at low volume. I worked with support for a couple weeks on battery life. Volume goes from 0-16. I was running 8-10 outdoors ( my main use and maybe getting 7-8 hours). Inside at low volume with podcasts it seemed to do much better so I can only assume full range sound with any volume drastically reduces battery life. Support stated it was normal life that I was getting and the rating was based on running around half volume. 8-10 is not that far above have volume (remember that full is 16). 2-4 notches above halfway should not give you only 1/3 battery life if they say 21 hour rating. I now run a portable power pack on the unit when outside and it gives me close to their rating between the pack and internal. I am not sure how this will affect the internal battery’s lifetime. I was going to get a second for stereo (it really does sound amazing) but not now knowing the battery life. I was told that support wants them to rethink their rating. I seriously question the rating even at half volume. It is still 4 stars for sound, sturdiness and water resistance. I did come back to add one comment. While this gets mainly 5 stars everywhere, there is no such thing as one speaker for every person. I saw 2 3 star reviews (only 2 so far) that both mentioned bass response. One said lack of bass. The others and it lacked depth of bass which I can only assume means it does do the over blown, flabby, thumping bass you hear in hip hop and rap. If that is your thing then I suggest some from Dr Dre and Beats. I am a former audio engineer from many years ago and hate anything by Beats because the bass is not tight. Like I said, no one solution. I can say that the bass on this is tight and punchy and what I would have went for in the 80’s. It will shake you a bit without get overblown. I am not slamming any one. Everyone has their own preference. If you are into hip hop and rap this probably is not the right speaker for you. The only other ding I have seen is strap sturdiness. A few 4 stars because the feel the elastic will stretch. I don’t see this being an issue. It seems sturdy to me and I won’t be carrying it 24/7. I will say this. For music it blows my LG Dolby Atmos soundbar out of the water for music clarity and sound in general. And it was $800

Excellent Little Speaker
I've been a life long Klipsch fan. I won most of their Heritage speakers. This little bluetooth speaker was bought for my wife who likes to listen to music while in the shower. She wanted something on the smaller size. I wanted something we could take with us on vacation of to the beach. I'm not sure about battery life since I haven't had it too long but I can comment on other things. Sound is great. The Detroit has deep bass and sound clear for a speaker in this category. The strap is very stretch and makes carrying the device easy. The app works great allowing custom adjustments or set adjustments. It's very easy to use. There is a dedicated power button and a Bluetooth connect button which all work perfectly. My wife likes the simple, unassuming look and the shape. I also looked at Marshall, Sony and JBL. I didn't hear them all but the Detroit worked best for us. Overall I am very happy with this little speaker.

Very good, consider the Onyx
I bought a Klipsch Detroit, beautiful mids and highs but not enough stink in the trunk (ranked #2), I bought a bose soundlink max (ranked #20)by far inferior to the Harman/Kardon Onyx (ranked #1), and the Klipsch. If you like depth of sound The Onyx is better than the Detroit. Detroit has cleaner sound, Onyx gets a little dirty ... I like it a bit dirty.

Klipsch fanboy left disappointed
I have been looking forward to this speaker price dropping for a while and after seeing them drop to 150$ I got two of them. Klipsch is my whole theatre setup. This line is very similar to the Marshall line but was hoping for better sound. This speaker is big compared to a typical portable speaker like a jbl charge or an Anker soundcore and I enjoy the sound more than those but it better at double the weight+ size. I really wanted them to be good for a backyard party so I tried comparing to the Harman Karson Go+Play 3 and the JBL party box essential(the cube) that are both in the same price point (on sale $124.99HK and $200JBL). I gave this speaker about a week to break in and even still both overall sound better. Maybe a bit fuller sound on the Klipsch with some songs but anything with significant bass feels lacking when playing side by side. The clarity even falls short. After listening I thought who is this speaker for? A bigger beach speaker? I can promise you it won't be much more impressive than the 70$ Anker you won't care about getting sandy. Travel speaker? It's significantly bigger/heavier so keep that in mind when packing. Indoor speaker? There's plenty of stationary Bluetooth speakers to host music that sound better and don't need battery factored into the price. Or bigger bluetooth speakers that do the same for less $. The strength of this speaker is it's sound quality for the compactness+portability but it isnt quite small enough for most to have it as their go to. It's large enough that it warranted them adding a strap to it. I thought as a nice compromise I could have it ancillary speakers for the outdoor setup. I can just hook the two up via an aux cable.... But where is the aux cable? There is NO aux cable for this MSRP 300$ speaker and I do not understand why. Especially with a brand like Klipsch. I couldn't believe it. Even worse, the connectivity of this speaker is not like any I've experienced. Maybe it needs a firmware update but out of the box it does not want to switch to a new device when switching from one phone to another, even with the Pc. Would have to power down and restart. If you take turns to play your music/playlist on one speaker you're going to have a bad time but I used only android+windows devices to test. Maybe it's more seamless with apple/iPhones. The device wouldn't register as a speaker either when hooked up via USB-C. For those reasons I had to bring it down from three stars to two. If you don't own any Bluetooth speakers and don't mind something a bit bigger then go for it. But not for 200-300$. 150$ seems acceptable for the product. I unfortunately would not recommend this because at the end of the day it's not for the casual go-er and it won't wow an enthusiast.

It will rock your world.
Klipsch really made a great portable speaker! I've been eyeing it for almost 2 years since the release cause of the design and speaker elements in it. Rugged build with quality material and the Klipsch connect app is easy to use. Online reviews praised it for not distorting the sound on higher volume, having rich treble, great mids and satisfying base. Also able to keep up with more complicated music tracks. It is all TRUE! Dare i say it blows away JBL Xtreme series and other brands equivalent of "medium large" class speakers. Bought it for 200€ and it's worth it! everywhere else it costs upwards of 370€!

Klipsch is crisp
All-rounder bluetooth portable speaker among the alternatives at this range and size. Pros: Clarity and bass is off the charts for this price and size. Loudness is enough for indoor & It works great as party box in a small group for outdoor gatherings. Strong battery lasts Upto 20+ hours if kept at moderate volume. Easy to carry with strap provided, but it’s heavy though. Bluetooth connectivity is good. Cons: No aux port provided, only charging port and Bluetooth connectivity. Little midrange lost as speaker has powerful bass but can be fixed/customized using the Klipsch connect app. The charging adapter should be of high watt rated to charge the speaker. I used my iPhone’s adapter, else it wasn’t charging. Klipsch app is little buggy and has lesser options than other alternatives. Overall : Satisfied
