Great SNES style with modern additions
Great controller, very comfortable to hold and the buttons are nice and snappy. Analog sticks are very smooth. And it’s 8bitdo so the battery lasts for ages. There’s a case which I’d also recommend

Excellent product and build quality. My favourite retro controller.
Great little pad, which gaves the same feel as a SNES pad but with additional buttons and features, you can turn on an autofire feature, there are trigger buttons as well as shoulder buttons, however the trigger buttons are digital and not analogue. Having the hall sensors on the additional thumb sticks is a great feature though as it makes the hard wearing and more accurate with zero drift. The build quality of all 8bitdo products I've ever seen has been fantastic. This comes with a usb to usbc cable which you can use to connect the pad to your pc, mac or console, it charges it but can also be used to set up bluetooth for the pad on various platforms. I'm actually using it with a raspberry pi and it works great. I'm so pleased I bought this, couldn't recommend enough.

Good value and quality little controller
As the title says, this is a good bit of kit for the price. It's entirely plastic but the build quality is solid. The buttons and D-pad feel nice and firm with a decent little click when pressed and are very responsive. The analogue sticks are also solid and accurate so far as I can see. I'm not the type to bother with measurements of lag while pretending that I can actually perceive them, but I haven't noticed any input lag from it's Bluetooth connection at all and it's stable. The only thing that might be an issue for some is that it's pretty small, on par with the SNES controller it's modelled on.

Good hardware but for switch 2 you need to patch the firmware to 2.06
The hardware is good, but I ordered this to work with the Switch 2. For that you need to upgrade the firmware to 2.06 as the device comes with 2.04. If you do not then it will not connect. When using the 8bitdo firmware updater it wasn't showing any firmware patches available. I emailed 8bitdo support but got no response. I finally found a setting in the firmware updater called "Get beta builds" and set this to on and it worked. This might be an issue with the current firmware tool and might be fixed in the future. I also recommend reading the instructions on how to get it into update mode and how to switch to Switch mode and bluetooth modes. Otherwise I am happy with the device.

Good controller, but hurts my thumbs
Everything about this controller, barring the right hand face buttons, is great. It had a good battery life and connects easily to a Windows PC. All the buttons are responsive and I’ve have no issue with any missed inputs. Size wise it’s fine too, it’s about as small as you’d expect. It works great for any game really, not just retro games. The main drawback are the four, right hand face buttons. After maybe 30 minutes my thumb gets sore. I don’t know if it’s that the edges of the buttons are a bit sharp, or just the shape of the buttons, or maybe the pressure required to press combined with the shape. Regardless, it hurts. I’ve played with many, many controllers in my life, and the only other time a controller had painful buttons for me was the Sega Dreamcast - and that’s probably because at the time I was playing hours per day! Unfortunately for this controller it took about 30 minutes before it started to hurt, and at the hour mark I draped a glasses cleaning cloth over the face buttons to smooth things out so I could continue to play. I’ve not returned this controller because it’s decent for 2nd player or a child to use, and it short bursts it’s also fine, but I’ve had to go back to using thr WiiU Pro controller for playing anything longer than an hour.

Works with Switch, easy to set up!
Compatible with Switch, better than the Switch controllers for retro games.

Excellent controller
This brings me back to my childhood. It connected first time to emulator, on android platform (12). It's the same size as the original SNES and my fingers are not as flexible as they were. This was fixed by getting a phone finger holder stuck to the back. Buttons are very responsive though some of the bosses in Zelda are still as hard as ever. All in all a very good buy. Have not tried with any other emulators but can't see there should be any problems. I bought the Bluetooth version there are cheaper versions by the same company, but these are hard wired. So make your choice. Go for it I don't think you will be disappointed.

Great Bluetooth Controller
Works great with the Anbernic RG353P, a Linux gaming handheld, with user setup required for whatever frontend you are using and with RetroArch. I imagine it is much simpler with other devices. Bluetooth connection was simple using the D-input mode and the controller remembers what mode and device you had it connected to, and gaming has no latency or interruptions whatsoever. I used the latest firmware on the manufacturer’s website and inputs were spot on. The battery lasts a long time and charges fast. Also ergonomics are really good for playing retro games. My only complaint, not a serious one, would be that holding the start button for 2 seconds is needed to turn on the controller, but the same goes for tuning it off too, a 2 seconds period of holding it down. This can mess up plans for hotkeys and such if you are into that. Alternative hotkeys can be set to R3+B to quit game for instance.

The ultimate "All-in-One" retro controller, Perfect for MiSTer!
If you are looking for a single gamepad that can handle almost every retro console in your library, this is the one to get. I use this primarily on my MiSTer FPGA, and it is fantastic. It captures that classic SNES feel perfectly but adds modern features like dual clickable joysticks and triggers, making it feel like a hybrid between a Nintendo classic and a DualShock. The addition of Hall Effect joysticks in this version is a huge upgrade, as it basically eliminates the worry of stick drift over time. The D-pad is also excellent, it’s firm and responsive, which is essential for platformers and fighting games. Whether I'm playing 16-bit classics or PlayStation 1 cores, this controller handles it all without needing to swap hardware. Pros: - Incredible Versatility: Works with everything from MiSTer and Steam Deck to Switch 2 and Android. One controller really does do it all. - Hall Effect Joysticks: Magnetic sensors mean no physical wear and tear on the sticks, ensuring long-term precision. - Authentic Feel: The form factor is a perfect tribute to the SNES, and the buttons have that classic "mushy but responsive" feel. - Modern Features: Includes rumble, motion controls, and a USB-C port for easy charging or wired low-latency play. - Portable: Its slim, flat profile makes it very easy to toss in a bag compared to bulkier modern gamepads. Cons: - Ergonomics for Long Sessions: Because it maintains the flat SNES shape, it doesn’t have the "handles" of a modern controller; if you have large hands, you might feel some fatigue after several hours of play. - Syncing: Switching between different devices (like moving from MiSTer to a Switch) requires remembering the specific button combos to change modes. Final Verdict: For retro enthusiasts, this is a must-have. It bridges the gap between old-school aesthetics and modern reliability perfectly. If you only want to buy one gamepad for your entire retro setup, this is the best candidate on the market.
