LinkTap G1S Wireless Water Timer & Gateway - Smart Sprinkler Timer with App, Remote Irrigation for Garden, Weather Aware, Greater Range than WiFi, Manual Control & Digital Lockout, 2 Year Battery Life

I purchased the LinkTap timer and gateway back in 2024. I really REALLY love this product, so I'm a bit surprised I didn't review it back then. But I'll try to make up for that now. LinkTap appears to produce high-quality commercial-grade products. The timer is a simple, heavy, solid, well-sealed box with a convenient blue rubber "Manual On/Off" button. The gateway provides the best, most reliable wireless connection I have ever experienced from any product. There is plenty of potential for interference between the gateway at one end of my basement and the timer outside at the other end of the house. But, unless my incoming cable internet connection is down, the timer and gateway are solidly connected. Always. The timer and associated smart phone app provide a mind-boggling amount of functionality. Water 1 or more times per day; or every other day; or every Monday and Thursday; or water for 5 minutes, followed by a 10 minute break, repeated for a total of 30 minutes; or pretty much any other schedule you may need. And you can have it skip a watering cycle if it just rained, or rain is in the upcoming local forecast. Because of the almost unlimited possibilities of this timer, the app interface can be intimidating at first. Just take a deep breath, stay calm, and simply tweak your watering schedule until you get what you need. It's more than worth it!

The LinkTap products are very well made. I have owned smart tap controllers from other manufacturers before and none can compare to the quality, features, and ease of use. I bought a couple last minute before an extended overseas holiday and was surprised by how simple it was to install; not just the physical installation, but also the network and app setup. I was able to program different intervals remotely and use the app to check everything was working from the other side of the planet. The interval modes are well thought out giving the users the ability to select multiple modes such as every X day, specific days of the week, odd/even days, specific months, calendar mode, etc. There is documentation for adding it to Home Assistant but I found the app and interval modes were so well done that I was only using the LinkTap entities in Home Assistant to trigger other things in my home as I found the weather forecasting very reliable. Speaking of the forecasting element, the device can alter its run times depending on the temperature of the day. You are able to set high and low temperature limits and then a ratio of how much more or less the runtimes will be. There is even a setting for not watering at all under a set temperature. So much configurability. Have I been recommending this product to anyone who listens? Absolutely. I now have friends replacing the traditional timers on their irrigation systems based on how robust, configurable, and easy this is. Note: The pressure coming into the LinkTap in my garden was irrationally high, measured at over 120PSI (830kPa) where the average home in Australia would get about 43-72PSI (300-500kPa) and the LinkTap is rated for a maximum of 116PSI (800kPa). Considering the LinkTap has not exploded yet and still functions as expected speaks volumes to the quality of the product. I will be adding a pressure regulator upstream as soon as it gets delivered to protect the device and the sprinklers downstream. It is unlikely this would be a problem for others.

Con los de otros fabricantes había pérdidas por mal ajuste o por ser de plástico blando con lo que se iban estropeando. La programación es sencilla y permite todo tipo de posibilidades. Se puede controlar remotamente sin problemas y te avisa de cualquier incidencia (fallo, batería baja, etc.) además del inicio y fin de riego. La única pega que le encuentro es que la tapa de las pilas está situada en la parte de atrás y se abre y cierra con tornillos, por lo que de pende de donde esté situado, puede que sea dificil acceder a ella. Pero en conjunto, un excelente temporizador.

Ich habe das System jetzt seit ein paar Wochen in Betrieb, und kann nur sagen, dass ich begeistert bin. Ich hatte vorher ein anderes System installiert (Rainpoint), und da gab es ständig Ärger, Verbindungsabbrüche vor allem. Auch die Materialqualität war dürftig. Mit LinkTap - alles perfekt. Schon alleine bei Rainpoint das für die Installation alles auf 2,4G umstellen müssen... supernervig. LinkTap installieren ist ein Kinderspiel, die Qualitätsanmutung ist hervorragend, die App absolut zuverlässig. Das einzige, was man überhaupt kritisieren kann ist die Unübersichtlichkeit der App. Das Design ist alles andere als modern, das ginge mit einem frischen Look und einfacherer Struktur sicherlich besser, aber man findet sich zurecht und kann letztlich alles so einstellen wie man es braucht. Also, sicherlich eine etwas höhere Investition als bei manchem anderen Produkt, aber wie sagt das Sprichwort: Wer billig kauft, kauft zweimal - und beim zweiten Mal dann LinkTap.
