Excellent for backups and storage
I use this 4TB drive to back up my home Synology NAS. The disk is fast and reliable. It comes with two thick cables USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A, which should be good for everyone. Samsung and SK Hynix are the two brand I rely the most

Avoid at all cost. Requires software install and running to use. Broke after barely using it.
I got this on sale and thought it would be awesome. Instead, I barely used it, and it broke. First off you need to install software for it to actually work. Then have that actually running. Thats the first time Ive seen that requirement. The hard drive froze while transferring data. I had a flight to catch so I had no other choice but to force quit and shut down the computer then disconnect. After doing that only once, it is now non readable. I tried to troubleshoot. And read that I should download OTHER software ( Samsung Portable SSD Software ) because the original Samsung Magician doesnt read that the drive exists. Neither does disk utility. So i try the new software. I enabled system extensions. And made sure permissions were enabled. Ran the program. Then it shows a screen saying its disconnected even though its connected. If I try to refresh. Nothing happens. If I leave it plugged in to see if it just eventually reads, it just heats up like crazy. Ive tried separate cables and those dont work either. Tested the original cable with a SANDISK SSD and that works fkin fine. Incredibly annoyed. Ive never dropped this. Spilled water. Anything. Just was forced to shut down then unplug because it FROZE. And this thing is bricked. After maybe transferring things to it maybe 5 different times.

excellent little hard drive!
Wish I could get another at the same price I paid! It's small physically but huge on data storage. I loaded it up with family photos and feel like it will last a long time.

Performance fine, physical size = heat
I just opened the box and tested it because I have video files of 1TB+ to transfer and was worried about transfer speed. The storage spec is ~1 GB / sec, which naturally causes it to heat internally and the unit will throttle back its write rate if it thinks it's overheating. DO NOT LAY IT ON TOP OF YOUR COMPUTER. Lay it on cold metal or let it dangle in mid air by its cable and put a fan on it if you have a very large amount of data to store, else it may slow way down to protect itself from heat. Theoretical max time to store 1TB would be ~17 minutes. It transferred 1 TB from SSD to SSD through my computer's USB3 connectors in ~30 minutes, this slower rate being expected and acceptable. Transfer from a hard drive would be much slower due to the hard drive, not the SSD's fault. So I'm happy with it, now I'll be watching for long term reliability.

Built like a tank
I have 2 of these on my MacBook Pro M4 and they are going strong after over a year. One is for my main data and the other is for photos.

Desperdicei meu dinheiro. Nunca mais compro esse modelo de SSD.

Extremely Disappointed – Files Disappear, Drive Is Defective
I purchased the Samsung 4TB T7 SSD hoping for a reliable backup drive, but it has been completely unusable. Every time I try to copy files, PowerPoints, videos, ZIPs, the drive shows the copy as complete, but the files disappear or become inaccessible. I’ve tried multiple cables, different ports, and even reformatted the drive using exFAT on Mac. Despite this, the problem persists. Other files sometimes copy and sometimes not, and folders and larger files regularly fail. Also I want to add that the drive is not even old, I got it less than a year ago and I barely used it twice. This is not acceptable for a premium SSD and is clearly defective. I can’t trust it at all. Samsung and Amazon need to address this issue.
