This major new edition, originally commissioned for the acclaimed Oxford Authors series under the general editorship of Frank Kermode, brings together a unique combination of Shelley's poetry and prose - the lyric poems, plays, longer poems, criticism, and essays - to give the essence of his work and thinking. Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) was a Romantic poet of radical imaginings, living in an age of change. His tempestuous life and friendship with Byron, and his tragically early death, at times threatened to overwhelm his legacy as a poet, but today his standing as one of the foremost English authors is assured. This freshly edited anthology - the fullest one-volume selection in English - includes all but one of the longer poems, from Queen Mab onwards, in their entirety. Only Laon and Cythna is excerpted, in a generous selection. As well as works such as Prometheus Unbound , The Mask of Anarchy , and Adonais , the volume includes a wide range of Shelley's shorter poems and much of his major prose, including A Defence of Poetry and almost all of A Philosophical View of Reform . Shelley emerges from these pages as a passionate and eloquent opponent of tyranny and a champion of human possibility. ABOUT THE SERIES: For over 100 years Oxford World's Classics has made available the widest range of literature from around the globe. Each affordable volume reflects Oxford's commitment to scholarship, providing the most accurate text plus a wealth of other valuable features, including expert introductions by leading authorities, helpful notes to clarify the text, up-to-date bibliographies for further study, and much more. Review: As superb as the reputation conveys - It came swiftly and in good condition. The contents, for someone who is only beginning to plumb the poetic depths, are astounding. A definitive collection
The definitive collection - I admit I'm relatively late to appreciating the works but I'm glad I returned. Quite breathtaking

A fine collection
A fine collection of Shelley's poetry, prose and drama totalling over 800 pages, including more than 100 pages of interesting notes. It's a chunky book, but fits well in the hand, with clear print. I liked it, and learned a lot.

TRUMPET OF A PROPHECY
This is the best one-volume collection of Shelley's magical poems available. The only down side for me is that only a selection of Laon and Cythna is included. They should have left out the prose and the notes to Queen Mab and included all of Laon and Cythna.

Shelley's poems are startling for their metric perfection, for their strength, and for the subversive charge they have still got to the present day.

Fantastic collecion for Shelley enthusiasts
This is a comprehensive collection of Shelley's works including plays, poems and other works. Recommend for the Shelley enthusiast, casual Shelley fan and anyone majoring in English (BA, MA, PhD...) very useful resource for myself, classmates and my professors (I am an English MA student myself.) Includes both well known works (Promethius Unbound, Ozymandias etc etc..) as well as some perhaps lesser known works (Mask of Anarchy...) Very nice collection for any personal library, especially for the price.

Una excelente recopilación de la obra de Shelley. Lástima que la encuadernación no venga cosida, punto siempre importante pero más en un volumen al q se le va a dar mucho uso tal y como la obra de Shelley merece

Best one-volume Shelley anthology so far
First the complaints. One, the Introduction is a meager 14 pages which cannot, and does not, do justice to a poet such as Shelley. the Intro leaves me wanting a lot more. In fact, it makes me positively pine for the kind of introductions for which both Catedra and Castalia (two Spanish Publishing Houses) are justly famous among scholars and students: a talented rebel and rake-hell like Shelley deserves at least 80 pages worth of intro. One chooses to read fourteen or fifty, but the offering should be commensurate with the artist. Two, I wanted the entire original text of LAON AND CYTHNA to be included here; it isn't. We have the original two initial cantos and then original ms copies of notes and drafts. It's a good effort, but not the whole poem. Now I'm starting to doubt the entire original that Shelley sent to his publisher before he was prevailed-upon to change it even exists. In defense of this edition, the back-cover blurb warns readers that Laon and Cythna is excerpted. My two complaints are not enough to rate this effort any less than five stars, however. The paper could have been of better quality and so could the cover. Now that I'm at it, the painting on the cover could, and should, be replaced. But the texts included are a treasure. This anthology is indeed the best one-volume anthology of Shelley available. With 135 pages of notes to help in the understanding of the poems, the poet, and his times, there is no reason not to buy it if you like the Romantics, or Shelley, or good poetry, period.

Good selection.
I liked that it has all of the works rather than sections. It's the most complete selection in my library.
