Vego garden Herb Indoor Plant Box, Self Watering Planters Pots for Indoor Plants with Trellis for Kitchen Window Sill or Countertop Plants Cage - Sage Green

I had recently purchased this company's Vego Tomato Grower, and was so impressed with the quality, design and function, I had to get this beautiful herb garden to go along with the tomato grower (caprese salad anyone? 😊) It's just the right size to get the herbs I use to add to dishes - basil, thyme, dill, chives, etc. Working as a private chef and yacht chef, I'm always reaching for the fresh, organic flavors to highlight and enhance my dishes. I've tried outdoor herb gardens, but living in the South, it's just too hot to keep anything alive for very long, and the deer and rabbits enjoy them, too. The size of this Vego Herb Garden allows me to place it in a sunny window and snip what I need in an instant. It's very lightweight, sturdy construction, has an upper cage to allow supported height in growth, and features a reservoir to keep the herbs hydrated on weekends when I am away from work. It's portability is such a plus, as it can be conveniently brought on board the yacht when the boss wants to go cruising - and very stable with the mounted legs. Every galley or kitchen should have one! Bon appetit!

I received the small trellis pot first and was impressed (except that no assembly instructions were provided). I must say, this set of two rectangular planters are as lovely as the single one. I really like the sage green color and I am sure the other colors are as nice. WOW, these came in the most amazing and brilliantly designed secure packaging. I wasn't sure which side of box was the top because no arrows or indication where to open the box. I opened from the bottom. Make sure if you open from the bottom side to remove all of the cardboard to find the oval steel trellis rail boxes. As mentioned, these are immaculately packaged and does include an instruction booklet. It even comes with a good screwdriver for attaching the 4 small bottom leg supports. I am very impressed with this company and their super smart designs for their line of planters. I've been using self-watering planters in my apartment indoor window garden and they really save my plants from overwatering or forgetting to water. I really prefer self-watering planters that have the water level indicator gage, as do these planters. I look forward to transplanting herbs to these. I wish I'd known about these when I bought other self-watering planters. These seem impressive.

excellent/ quality product/ well built

I’m loving this adorable herb garden planter! It can fit about two or three different herb plants And it has a little trellis along the outside. the instructions say you can use it both indoors and outdoors. It’s self watering so all I have to do is fill it up with water and it will do the work for me! It has a clear water indicator that notes when you need to refill it or when it’s full. It also has a water level regulator and they give you instructions on how to modify it for if you’re using it inside or outside. This will be great. I move this planter out onto my deck! The planter itself is really well-made and it was very easy to put together. I would consider buying this as a gift for another plant lover! I’ll try to update My review once I fill it up with my herbs!

We bought 2 of these and also 2 of the minis. They look good and cute BUT from a functionality standpoint they are not worth the cost. Its not not as easy as they claim. I planted basil and chives and used their method to water. My basil plant died in spite of me NOT overwatering. In addition, since the water collects in the base reservoir it leads to small soil flies and mold. I have to keep these plants out in the sun repeatedly. Overall very unhappy with the product. A regular planter with a planter tray (or a self watering globe) would have worked so much better.

I bought this to have an herb garden over the winter. It was easy to assemble, and looks good on my kitchen windowsill. But a couple of months in, some concerns have emerged. First, since plants grow toward the light I have to keep turning it or the plants become lopsided. And it’s heavy. Second, I think there is more water than the plants need. They are not thriving, and I think they have fungus issues. This is underscored by an infestation of fungus gnats that requires attention. A whole new challenge.

This self-watering planter is made of heavy enough plastic and is easy to use. Yes, the text in the instructions is very faint, but it's not like this is a complex thing to put together. It seems to be designed for three plants, but you could do whatever of course. It has drain pipes that can be adjusted for how much water (or no water) that you want stored in the reservoir. There is a little bobber that rises showing you how much water is in the reservoir. In direct sun this gauge will inevitably get some condensation in it. You can still read it, or just yank out the gauge and shake the condensation down. As with other planters of this style, you should top water for a long time until you feel confident that your plants' roots are growing down in the reservoir. Overall happy with the purchase; we will see how it fares in the sun for a summer.

This planter is so perfect for me as I have always desired to have a small garden to plant my favorite herbs in and be able to pick fresh herbs when I need them. The planter is made of a very sturdy plastic and was extremely easy to assemble. I love the added features of a trellis and that it is self watering, both of which is what really wanted. I can’t wait until I cook my next batch of marinara sauce from scratch and have my own home grown fresh herbs at my fingertips.
