How do I close the trap without getting near it? Absolutely terrified of spiders.

With the trapslid to the open position, cover the spider trapping it. Slide the cover shut using anything longer than your finger trapping the spider inside. Be careful when lifting it to ensure the trap door faces up. Facing down it will open again letting the spider out. Transport the full trap to the release point ,preferably outdoors and turn the trap over to allow gravity to open the door. If the wind blows the release spider towards you RUN. Be brave.

Does it work on carpets

haven't tried it on carpets yet, most spiders I usually spot in our house are normally on the walls or close to the ceiling. Depending on your type of carpet, if the pile isn't thick there shouldn't be a problem-although you would have to push the trap door by hand to close the catcher due to lack of downforce.

How does the door close if I use it above head height such as ceiling. False widow issue.....!!!

I've stood on high stool and caught intruders (don't even like saying name:( . But you have to be brave!, and feel confident you have it contained whilst sliding shutter with free hand. Worth trying other suggestion of using object like wooden spoon etc to tap shut. Would think this might be more risky unless a skilled bug catcher user x.
