From the creators of The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom , a heartwarming holiday tale, now in paperback! Stick Man lives in the family tree With his Stick Lady Love and their stick children three. But one day, Stick Man is carried off by a mischievous dog who wants to play fetch! Things go from bad to worse as Stick Man finds himself farther and farther from home. Lonely and lost, Stick Man desperately wants to be home with his family for Christmas. And when he helps Santa Claus out of a bind, he finds the perfect ticket home! Julia Donaldson's pitch-perfect rhymes and Axel Scheffler's witty illustrations combine for an unforgettable holiday adventure. Review: Cute illustrations. A book about perserverance, ages 4 to 3rd grade. See review. - Beautiful illustrations! Like one of the other reviewers, I agree the message of this book is about perserverance. It ends with his adventure with santa, so this could be considered a hoiday book. There is repetition with the phrase, "I'm stick man, I'm stick man, that's me." Youngsters like repetition such as this. Most words are one or two syllables, but there are three-syllable words such as "family" and "deserted" and "delivered." If reading independently, due to some three-syllable words, I'd recommend up to third grade. If reading to kids, I'd recommend from age 4 to 2nd grade. Review: Brilliant! - My 3 and a half year old son just simply adores Stick Man. Every night I send my son to his book shelf to select books for his night time reading, and since we have purchased this book, it has been selected every single night. We have loved all of Julia Donaldson's books (we own Snail and the Whale, The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's child, Room on the Broom, The Spiffiest Giant in town and Monkey Puzzle) and this one is just as popular with me. I enjoy reading it to my son. As with all her stories, they are just the right length (not too long and not too short), have an engaging plot, really nice illustrations and appeal both to adults and children alike. Stick man has quite an adventure as he is mistaken for a stick and is then picked up one after another by a dog for a game of fetch, a girl for throwing into the river, a swan for building his nest, a father for a mast on a sand castle, a boy for an arm for a snowman and choir singers for firewood. He misses his stick family and wishes to be back with them. He finally makes it back home (I wont spoil your reading by saying how) just in time to celebrate Christmas with them. The story rhymes and the story line is very creative. I cant wait to get my hands on more of her books.

Favorite childrenโs book
This book was published in 2008. It was a favorite for both of my grandchildren. I bought this copy for a little sweetie that just turned two. She carries it with her as she searches for someone who reads it to her

Awwh, stick man..we just love him! Sweet, fun book. Defiantly a favorite in our home!
We saw the video of Stick Man, I believe on Prime Amazon Video, and my boys loved it which was no surprise since we love all Julia Donaldsons stories, both in book form and the short films they've been made into. We also love the Gruffulo and Room on the Broom. They are such charming stories, full of beautiful rhyming, which makes it fun to read. They all have beautiful lessons and ideas. Stick Man loves his family and never gives up hope finding them. Meanwhile on his journey each character thinks he is something else ( a bat, a stick for a nest, a bow, a fetching stick, a log for their fire!!) this really got my kids imaginations amped up! Often when we play outside they'll pick up a stick and run through all its possibilities ..but what if it's stick man?! What about his family?! It's so sweet! I love seeing their imaginations running and because of a book!! Beautiful book, awesome condition and delivery:)

Odddest Plot
We enjoyed the plot, its very silly. I like that StickMan can be anything your imagination can dream of. And then.... Santa shows up. I thought it was more of a Christmas book so I bought it for the holiday season. My daughter liked the rhyme scheme and finding the Gruffalo ornament on the Christmas tree. Great Illustrations - Mediocre Plot.

Toller Klassiker โ liebevoll erzรคhlt, auch fรผr zweisprachige Kinder geeignet
