Genuinely great radio alarm
This alarm clock is what you want if you’re looking for the most economical alarm that can at minimum play radio for the alarm. It’s not intuitive to set up, but I was fine with that. There’s no backlight for the buttons at the top and they’re a little hard to read, but since that’s the worst thing about a $15 alarm clock that does everything else I want it to do surprisingly well, I’ll take it. Fwiw there’s a review on here from noname that says they’re frustrated the clock failed after 6 months - I don’t think it actually failed them based on how they described what happened. I think they had a grid outage and forgot or didn’t know to put batteries in it to back it up. I wish I could respond to their review so they could say if they did that or not. If you’re looking for a very well designed, high quality, wifi-enabled, midrange radio alarm this isn’t your best bet because the tradeoff for the price is it’s a little less than intuitive to set up, and is lacking some modern features. If you’re looking for a cheap alarm and you don’t care about radio, there’s $10 alarm clocks out there that are easier to set up than this one. If you don’t care whether it’s easy to set up, it’s actually a pretty awesome radio for the price. You can even set an alarm to only go off on weekdays, and to adjust to daylight savings time automatically. I’m honestly amazed it wasn’t more expensive.

A great little clock at a great little price
I love this clock. It's compact and easy to use. The feature I like best, though, is the four level dimmer. I can have it bright in a sunny room or dim in a darkened room. The clock was easy to set up. All I did was plug it in. (I live in the Eastern time zone.) I like having a clock in both bedrooms even though I rely on my smartphone for a daily alarm.

As expected with nice display
I needed a new clock radio with AM/FM radio and this fit my needs given the price and quality. I did like the bright green numbers which showed my the time - can still see even across the room. The FM channels were good but did have a hard time with the AM channels which is really an antenna issue. Depending on price, I would buy again.

Incredibly Cheap Quality, NOT User Friendly
I've learned the hard way that almost nothing is made with quality anymore, so I had reasonable expectations regarding a replacement clock radio. I chose this Emerson brand because about 5 years ago, I had purchased a different model Emerson Smart Set clock radio for a different room, and the quality, design, and the features of that model were excellent. That one looks, feels, sounds, and functions like a premium, high ticket item. It had exceeded my expectations. Since that model is no longer made, this time I decided to try this Emerson model. This newer model is pure JUNK, JUNK, JUNK!!!! There is zero comparison to their previous product, or any clock radio I've ever owned, except that they are all technically clocks radios. First of all, this thing is so lightweight that a strong breeze from an adjacent window would blow it off its surface. Just walking by it, it's incredibly easy to knock it to the floor just by accidentally brushing against it. As for sound, it sounds like you'd expect a cheap radio to sound. It has adequate sound quality to wake you up and the volume can be made loud, but the louder it gets, the more marginal the sound quality becomes. But, since I bought this solely for the purpose of waking up on time, the radio sound quality was not a big problem for me. The cheap, textured, black matte plastic that it's made of is a dust magnate vs what a slick, smooth, shiny plastic would be, and it's tacky looking. Still, I could have lived with it if had to, though I know it would require constant dusting. Since I hate returning things, I tried to convince myself that this item would be okay for short term use, maybe longer. HOWEVER, the absolute deal breaker for me is the black buttons with the black writing on this black clock. What complete idiot designed this???!!!! I was willing to accept this clock's cheap quality and design for temporary use to avoid having to do a return, but the black writing on the black buttons on the black clock case is downright abusive!!! Especially given that this item is normally used/set at night in dim lighting. No one wants to have to turn on a bright overhead light or stick their face and this clock next to a bright lightbulb at bedtime just to try and read the settings when they're winding down and ready for bed. How are people supposed to set an alarm when the settings are unreadable??? Even in full daylight, you have to pick up the clock and try to angle it in the right light to read the control buttons, and I have excellent vision. Even in the daytime, I have to bring this to a sunny window and angle it 45 degrees in the sunlight just to read the controls. NO! An alarm clock should be able to be easily and quickly set. It should not be a nightly ordeal! This clock was designed with only making the cheapest possible product in mind. There was no attempt to offer the customer reasonable features, and there was no consideration of the customer in mind. Seriously, black buttons with black writing on a black background???!!!! Beyond idiotic! Can't wait to send this hunk of junk back!!!!

Nice little alarm clock ...
Nice little clock radio ... fairly simple to use. Was especially nice that it automatically sets time when it's first plugged in. Setting the alarm was a bit confusing but after reading the instructions, which I should have done first, it was okay. Also nice that the display brightness can be adjusted.

Great Clock, but How Do You Disable the Alarm?
Many years ago (back in the mid-80s) I bought a digital clock radio that had all the basic functions and did them well - even more, it was a simple set-up. When the digital display started acting wonky I reluctantly realized I was going to have to replace it. It was like losing an old friend who had served me through the last years of my Army career, going back to college for my second career, and through my second career as a teacher. I needed a good, reliable alarm. That clock never failed, its battery operating for almost a week when a hurricane knocked the power out in 1995. My requirements to replace it were simple - a basic clock with a readable face, simple to program, a radio alarm function - WHEN I NEED IT - I learned in the Army the way you wake in the morning has a LOT to do with your mood the rest of the day. This Emerson clock seems to fit the bill. My gosh, it even sets itself! Adjusting to my Central Time Zone is no problem, its small, others complain about the sound of the radio - I have an excellent sound system for that - I want something that will wake me up in the morning, when I have to get up that won't rattle my nerves first thing. All systems check. So, why does this clock get only three stars? I'm retired and have a pretty good internal clock that wakes me at about the same time every day. I don't need an alarm clock every day and try as I might - I CAN'T GET THE STUPID ALARM FUNCTION TO TURN OFF!!! There is NOTHING about it in the stupid instruction manual (I guess I shouldn't complain, it's obvious English wasn't the writer's first language and he/she/it probably has a better command of English than I have of his/her/its primary language). I've tried the tricks mentioned by users and "Answers" provided on the Amazon product page, I've even looked at YouTube videos that provide solutions - NOTHING HAS WORKED!!! The best thing I've been able to do is set the alarm to later in the day in case I DO manage to sleep a bit late (sleep is a luxury for me) one morning. It appears the default is 8:00 am. That's usually late for me, but imagine sitting up with insomnia until 3:00 am and finally dropping off to have the alarm (which you thought you had disabled) go off at 8:00. I was not a pleasant person that day. I'd love to give this radio a 5-star rating but not being able to disable the alarm function when you don't need it seems to me to be a BIG deficiency. I know you're supposed to be able to set it to go off so many days a week - that's fine, but what about those of us who only need an alarm clock occasionally?

Really like this Alarm clock/AM-FM radio…
I actually own at least 7 of these throughout my house and maybe more. The first one of these I bought decades ago because it would automatically set/reset daylight savings time without me having to bother. The first one cost me $30+dollars and was well worth it. I could/can wake to alarm or radio and it has dual alarms. Unfortunately some of the led display numerals started to burn out on the original clock (after 20-25 years of use) and it became difficult to read the actual time; so I looked on Amazon and found another one that had the same features but the size had gotten smaller which was ok by me. I put it to use so that I had two alarms set daily because I absolutely had to be at work early to open up or I would have dozens of people pissed if I was late. Truthfully, I found these on Amazon warehouse that had been returned but were in like new condition and at least half off the original price from years ago. As mentioned, the smaller size meant a smaller speaker on the radio so waking to music is not a great listening experience, but, when I want to listen to music I have several other quality options. I use these clocks mostly for time now since I’m retired and have one in most rooms of the house and basement. When time changes in spring and fall I don’t have to run around resetting clocks anymore. Check these out if you need a dependable clock/radio for a reasonable price…Forgot to mention these now have several brightness/dimmer settings that my original one did not have!

Just works
Works great-instructions are a bit complex but ultimately fine if you just follow them step by step. 4-step dimmer is actually quite helpful and the alarm is loud and has had no issues waking me up. Haven't used the radio function but I'm sure it works just as well. Gives great 2000s hotel room energy.

Great Compact Digital Clock
Love the size and the fact that when I plugged it in the time set automatically to the correct time - was amazed didn't have to set anything. The display is very bright but can easily be dimmed, I like the colour of the digital numbers (bright green). Has extra features e.g. radio, sleep timer and so on. As I bought it for the purpose of the digital readout when I awaken I have not tried any of the additional features. Can't advise on how they work.
