Just Go For It- Wont be disappointed! Its AS5
Arctic Silver- Age old name & professionals choice for any high end machine. Had its name in mind since years. So when the need came ordered one. Product comes in open poly packaging. There is neither any blister pack nor any seal. Appears like product is imported in bulk & then sold in loose packaging. Only a Zip lock poly bag with a syringe containing 3.5 AS5 compund. But it appears genuine & performs well. ******* PROS ******* 1. Its old & trusted name in thermal paste world 2. Will bring down temperatures by 10-20 degrees. More important is system will be stable under load & run for longer durations at higher frequencies. 3. Qty is also good. If applied in right qty without wastage, it may last for approx 4-5 repaste jobs, on cpu & gpu. ******* CONS ******* Only con being, though not electrically conductive its slightly capacitive, and if not applied carefully, will spread outside to small components on die & create trouble. ********************** USAGE SCENARIO ********************** I used it in my old Dell XPS L502x & Inspiron 15R (all stats are wrt xps one), to replace stock thermal paste on CPU & GPU. CPU throttling due to excess core temperatures 95 Deg + on load. On even small load, it shooted up to 100 & then throttling will occur. High temp were due to dust accumulation on vents, fin & old expired thermal paste. *********** HOW TO *********** 1. Using cleaning solution (eg isopropyl alcohol available at chemist shop) & swab, clean out old paste. Be careful. Clean dies to mirror finish. 2. On square die, apply a drop. Neither too big, nor too small. Will depend on die size & your guess. On rectangular die, apply a line. When heatsink is pressed on to die, due to pressure it auto spreads consistently. Its preferred method, i did not go for spread method as it may sometimes leave air bubbles which is a no go. *pic attached with illustration on square/rectangular die & real application on rectangular die ************************** BEFORE APPLICATION ************************** Cold boot, no apps running, core temp was 63 Deg, CPU at 800mhz On full load via prime 95 After 2 min 95 deg & cpu at 1700mhz After 5 mins 95 deg & cpu at 1500mhz After 15 mins 95 deg & cpu at 1100mhz Fan: at full rpm, continuously whirring. ************************ AFTER APPLICATION ************************ Cold boot, no apps running, after 15 mins core temp was 50 Deg, CPU at 2400mhz On full load via prime 95 After 2 min 79 deg & cpu at 2900mhz After 5 mins 82 deg & cpu at 2700mhz After 15 mins 82 deg & cpu at 2600mhz Fan: less noise and triggers less. Very lesso n high rpm So it appears like, huge difference in performance & power saving!! Its been a few days after application, n laptop seems to run cool & there is visible boost in performace on load. ****************** FINAL VERDICT ****************** So getting AS5 was not a bad investment! You can surely go for it. Just be careful in its application as though not electrically conductive, its capacitive & if not used in desired qty may spread out to small components on die & create trouble. Also be patient after application as it takes around 200 hours to cure or to reach its full capacity. Thats burn in time for AS5.

Amazing product !!
My intel core 2 quad was overheating immensely ,since it had been 4 years old and with practically no maintenance, the thermal paste was nonexistent. It would go above 100 degree Celsius within no time , then I finally did some research n found this to be the best thermal compound around, and true to it's word, after using this, now the cpu heating issue is solved and all 4 core temperature is stable at around 38-50 degree Celsius, and I just used a wee bit of this,it is good for usage many more times, so all in all a good buy.

as good as advertised
it works well. reduced cpu temperature on my gaming computer. but also use cooling fans to help dissipate heat from the cpu cabinet.

Excellent and Magical - It's the silver in it that does the magic.
I heard about this product from a youtuber Dave Lee. In 2014, my laptop went dead and I sent it to a Samsung authorised service centre. They told me they will need to replace the MoBo for a total of Rs 6k. After the replacement, Samsung guys broke my laptop web cam and the laptop used to heat up and shutdown to protect cpu from melting. I searched on the internet and found that a thermal paste is needed to transfer heat efficiently from the CPU to the heat pipes. So I ordered a cheap thermal paste for Rs 150 from a local shop. I applied the paste but to no avail. The laptop still heated up and would shutdown. So I did a temporary os hack and reduced the max CPU power consumption from power options to 80%, both on battery and charger. I stopped playing games as my cpu could not perform well. Then I heard about this product and ordered it. I quickly opened up my laptop, removed the heat pipes cleaned them as well as the cpu and applied this thermal paste. I can now use the cpu 100%. The laptop still heats up but it doesn't shutdown due to heat up. I think I need to replace the fan as well as I once dropped some milk on laptop and it has seeped through and clogged the heat vents and slowed down the fan. Tldr; this is an excellent thermal paste. I recommend it without doubting it's abilities.

Works as expected.! Very satisfied!
Used it on my mid 2012 Macbook pro because the cheap normal thermal compound I applied wasn’t making any noticeable changes for the heating issue I had with my mbp. After applying AS5 though, I could see immediate drop in temperatures upto about 3 deg C. And after about a week it was still showing consistent effect. And I still have enough compound left to repaste 2-3 more times. I understand that 3-5 deg C of temperature might not sound so big, but for a computer running for hours without a break, that level of cooling means a lot. I’m very satisfied with the product and would recommend it.

Read much good about Arctic Silver Thermal Compounds
Purchased it instead of Cooler Master Thermal Paste. Read much good about Arctic Silver Thermal Compounds, this one though came without manufacturer packaging, which made me suspect if it really was original. Tried contacting the seller, but never responded. Though Amazon refunded the amount. The compound works fine. My laptop turned off just after it booted. Now, works pretty much well.

My money was well spent, I guess :-)
I'm an avid computer gamer and a proud owner of Alienware M14x R2 gaming laptop :-) For last couple of months I was experiencing unbelievably low fps in games like Counter Strike and World of Tanks while playing on this beast. After some research online I realized the problem to be my old thermal grease, which no longer remained efficient, and causing thermal throttling frequently. HWMonitor showed the CPU temp jumping up and down between 91 degree and 75 degree. While, GPU is constantly over 70 degree. Initially, I thought of buying 'Arctic Silver Ceramique 2' as it doesn't show any capacitive effect like Arctic Silver 5, but finally zeroed in on this product for being superior thermal grease, as many other claimed here in Amazon and elsewhere on the Internet. I also purchased 'Amzer 97265 Alcohol Prep Pad' to rub off the older grease from CPU and GPU heads. But, that turned out to be a wrong choice as it took much effort to do the cleaning with those prep pad as they were not wet enough. Applying on GPU was easy as its top surface is in a shape of square; so applying a pea size of grease worked fine. Apply on CPU (i7, 3rd gen) was rather tricky for its size of upper surface. If you're also planning to do it by yourself, go to the Artic silver home page, and check the instructions on how to apply this grease on different CPU models. Improvements I noticed so far (after almost a month went since I applied it): 1. Temp of GPU (NVidia Gforce GT 650M) is now really well balanced. After playing for couple of hours, max temp reaches around 72, and on average it stays around 60. 2. Temp of CPU is not so well balanced, and most likely that is because I failed to applied it properly. Though, the max temp never goes beyond 75, but it on average remains at 66/67 while playing (I expected it to be around 60, on average). Moreover, HWMonitor reports that core 7 and 8 remains nearly 5/6 degree higher than other cores, which make me suspect the thermal grease was not applied properly over the complete surface of CPU when I assembled my laptop. But, right now I'm not going to correct that as it is not causing not much trouble for me; may be I'll give it a shot after a year or two. BTW, since I applied this thermal grease on both CPU and GPU, the overall temp still shoots up high while playing for couple of hours straight, but it doesn't go up unbounded like before and I have NOT experienced any thermal throttle since then. My money was well spent, I guess :-)

Thermal Paste of Choice, but doesn't come in its own packaging
I purchased this at around 550 rupees from PrimeABGB. Arctic Silver don't ship this paste in a box, so seller will provide their own. Check that it's sealed before accepting delivery. This is the famous Arctic Silver 5, the paste of choice for most system builders in the US. I had been hearing about it for a while, so when I found it here, I bought it. Been using it for a year and a half, no complaints. About usage, be warned that it's very sticky and difficult to come off, so don't get any on your hands. Application depends on the CPU, you can view the list on Arctic Silver's website(...). For modern i5 CPUs, apply a thin vertical line half a centimetre from the top and bottom, and put the heatsink on directly. If the sink comes with paste already applied, you don't need to use this paste in addition. The line will turn into an oval after the heatsink presses it, which is exactly what we want. Lasts for three-four computers easily. Overall, worth getting.

Its my go to thermal paste for the last 20+ years
Ive tried other thermal pastes but this seems to be the best IMO. Ive went 4-5 years before reapplying it because I noticed my CPU temps were getting a little higher. Transfers heat well, spreads well, and cleans up pretty easy with ISO alcohol and it spreads like peanut butter. My only gripe is the tubes are small so you'll only get a couple uses from it. Works well on my GPU's too

Excellent Quality | Easy to Use | Well Packaged
Despite building various computers and working on others, this the first time I have reviewed thermal paste. I have always believed that when it comes to certain PC components, there is no point in buying cheap as you will always end up having to replace it sooner; thermal paste is one of them. If you don't know, thermal paste is used to create a thermally fused bridge between a chip such as a CPU with a heat sink; this is done to ensure as much heat can be dissipated from the chip as quickly as possible. Why? Because we don't want anything to overheat and potentially cause permanent damage. Packaging: This came in a clear resealable bag. The tube itself is a spring loaded syringe that feels strong. Ease of use: I recommend sacrificing a small amount to start with as it is nearly always slightly watery compared to the rest of the tube. Firstly, you MUST wipe off any old thermal paste from the heat sink and chip that you wish to apply this too. I recommend using 99% rubbing alcohol and cotton buds to work off any residue. Once clean, apply a small line to the chip and very carefully put the heat sink down evenly so not to smear the paste. Tighten in a cross motion, that is, tighten screws as opposite pairs so that the load is even across the heat sink. Doing this will help spread the line of thermal paste in an even manner. Many people think you need to cover the chip entirely, you do not, don't forget, the heat sink is in contact with the chip anyway and the paste only serves as a very fine bridge between the two. Performance: I have used this on so any PCs and have only ever seen decreases in temperature. Notable examples include repairing an old Xbox 360 using different screws for the heat sink and replacing the paste with this stuff. The Xbox no longer overheats and still works now. This specific order was used for an old Acer Aspire Revo Nettop. In order to upgrade the hard drive I had to remvoe the heat sink. Because th eheat sink was coming off, I needed to replace the thermal paste. Running Kodi before showed idle CPU temps of 70-75 degrees. Since replacing, I haven't seen it go over 71 and idles at around 63. It seems to be often the case that factory used thermal paste just isn't as good quality as the dearer ones such as this. Value: Considering I still have at least 3g left, I'd say that I will get another three big uses out of this tube, and at £5.99 delivered next day, this is great value. Pros: - Spring loaded syringe - Thick compound - Excellent quality Cons: - Paste separates in storage (but all seem to do that) If you are looking for a thermal paste, buy this, you will not be disappointed.
