The 'Magic' in SoundMagic is true!
Alright, you are thinking - what a tall boast! Anything backing it up? And so, here we are: If you do not wish to read through the review, although I won't geek out a thousand words, there is a TL;DR version at the bottom. Also, wherever necessary I have added extra notes for explaining jargon - like this: [1], [2] ... - which are accumulated after the review. First, let's get to the specifications. Please do not think of specs as redundant or useless; in fact, they are helpful in indicating what a headphone is capable of and what are its limitations. Brand - SoundMagic Product - E10C Sound - Stereo Minimum Frequency Response - 15 Hz (Note: This means on the bass side of things, where 20 Hz [1] is normal for humans, this 15 Hz gives our E10C a decent bass) Connector Plating - Gold (Note: which is excellent) Technology - Wired Impedance - 16 Ohm (Note: at this price point, the impedance [2] is of no consequence, all you need to know is that your laptop or smartphone should be enough to drive [2a] the E10Cs) Cable Length - 1.2 meters (Note: decent) Maximum Frequency Response - 22,000 Hz (Note: Standard) Driver Size - 10 mm (Note: standard [3]) Form - In-ear Weight - 11 g Interface - Play/Pause, Skip/Back, Volume (Note: Volume works with 95% of the smartphones; it did not work with mine but that's a non-issue, skip/back are working) The Japanese company SoundMagic really knows what they are doing. There is solid engineering behind every earphone they come out with, and while some are misses, a lot of them are hits and the E10C is one of the latter. You will not find better sounding earphones in this budget. As you will see on the box and on various audiophile websites, this earphones have been awarded. Yes, awarded. But all this won't mean a thing until you try them on. Now they come with an array of earbud tips (as pictured), and you can pick out what fits you the best. Put them in. They are light and comfy. Both iOS and Android users can listen through as it has a switch for manually changing between devices. In fact the 'C' in E10C stands for compatibility. It just works. Additionally, the in-line buttons give you volume, track skipping and play/pause controls. The 3.5 mm jack is angled at 60 degrees, which makes life easy. A twisted 1.2 m cable should make it last a long time. The sound from these earphones is well balanced. You will feel the energy of a metal track without missing a beat. The mids [4] are pleasing, clear, which makes the vocals open and level. As lively as the bass is, the highs are distinct and smooth. This makes for a great overall listen. You will be lost in your music for hours. And your time will be well-spent. End Notes [1] Humans can hear from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Anything under 20 Hz is felt and not heard - which is the bass you guys love so much [2] Impedance is resistance to the flow of current. At high impedance the manufactures can make even better sounding headphones as the drivers - which are in the earbuds - have less chance of distortions seeping in [2a] In simple words, a smartphone, a laptop or an amplifier 'drives' - gives power - to your earphones, which means that high impedance headphones are harder to drive. 6 to 40 Ohm is a good range to be driven by smartphones and laptops, but you'll need an amplifier for anything above 60 Ohm [3] All you need to know is that 10 mm is good enough. The normal range for IEM (in ear monitors) is 8 mm to 15 mm. Loudness or quality is not dependent on the size [4] I will use very simple language to demystify this most used audiophile jargon - highs: think cymbals, the 'tss' part of ba dum 'tss' on a drum. Or when a singer does an elongated, and high 'aaaaa'. So, does that 'tss', or the 'ting', or the 'aaaaa' sound clear and distinct? Highs are good! Mids: when your voice crackles, or is raspy, or when you whisper sweet nothings to your partner - those are the perfect mids! Here lie most of the vocals and if you can hear the timbre, the tone cleanly, you've got good mids! Now lows everyone knows! Just another way of saying bass. It is better felt than heard. The air moves to the plucking of a bass string, and you hear a 'thrum'. The more popular one though is the 'boom boom' sound. TL;DR If you care about how you consumer your music, if you are looking for a gateway to understand how music should sound like, or if you simple want a simple good pair earphones without breaking the bank - you will not be disappointed. + Detailed, clear sound Solid design Switching between iOS and Android Sturdy build Cheap for what they offer - None at this price point

it's a good earphone I'd say
Been 2 days since I got this, it's a good earphone I'd say. Worth the money, yeah. The build is very good. Tangle free. This is my very first earphone above 1500/-, so I did many reviews before pinning on this. The wire is very lengthy, smooth. The raw music is so so nice to hear. The Mic is close enough to the mouh. Very much satisfied for the amount. Only two drawbacks from my end: 1. The volume and the call on button couldn't be differentiated nor they've a protuding button which makes it a bit hard to press/tap. 2. The bass. It is low. But that wouldn't be an issue. You'd satisfied still. So if you've decided to get it, go for it.

Why Are you Even thinking,Buy it
I am writing this review after using the earphone for 2 months now, probably after using this in every device possible and through all genres of music. At this price this is probably few of the best accessories you can get for your phones as well as media players. PROS- 0.The wires are really tangle resistant, the build quality is great and you can feel the endurance of the wire . 1.The sound quality is much better than other earphones of same price, it's surely an underdog but there is no compromise in quality. 2. The highs ,lows as well as the mids are all very well balanced, the bass output is upto the mark ,the exact and the apt amount required is present, even the bass heads wont regret buying it. 3.the quality is amazing ,no matter how much I stress on it ,its the biggest plus point for it, the earphones fell 5 to six times from height of my ear to the ground straight, not a single scratch was observed. 4.The noise isolation is really good ,in the mid sound range not a single sound can be heard from outside. 5.The mic is very clear and has noise cancellation. 6.The earphone works great if you are operating on a surround sound and gives a very nice feel. 7.The comfort is really great,I have worn it for 8 to 9 hours straight and didn't face any irritation. 8.The angle of the jack is really a great innovation as it doesn't put the whole stress perpendicular but at the same time maintains some stress compared to full straight jacks while the device is in your pocket. 9.The looks and the design is very premium CONS 1.The volume is a bit low, although it's high enough and you don't really listen that high volume but still if you compare, the max volume is less. 2.The earphone caps are available in a lot of sizes but they are basically the mid sizes of the standard sizes so most of them are not that useful. 3.The phone adaptor basically has no use, not at all. 4.The earphones doesn't have recognition so your peers may not recognize it as a great earphone or may consider it as a cheap one. Basically it's only drawback is that it doesn't have a big brand name otherwise it's probably the best value for money earphone in its price range. Go ahed BUY IT!!

Disappointing in comparison to so many great reviews that I had read.
After doing lots of research online, I finalised E10C. After using for few days, my conclusion are as follows: 1) The headphone is actually normalizing all kinds of frequency, in doing so, some faint sounds gets slightly elevated and since at the same time bass is slightly pulled down, we are able to better recognize all sound. 2) Due to sound normalization, bass is reduced by considerable percentage. But for a particular low frequency, which I'm not able to pick, the bass is not normalized and comes out as it is. So rather than doing constant normalization, the headphone is attempting variable frequency normalization, which means that it is selectively processing the audio. 3) No there was no instant where I found a new instrument sound in songs as other have magically discovered with this headset. I'm still hearing the same instruments sound, only that they are very slightly more subtle (credit to reduced bass) the great example is tabla sound which I always knew in a particular song was there but on this headphone it's faintly more clear (i.e. I was able recognize dha kete dha dhin unlike previously were I recognized only dha dha dhin due to high bass) Conclusion: 1) Not at all for bass lover 2) Classic and Blues are good on this 3) Due to normalized audio and volume not very high, I can wear this for few extra time. 4) Convert all your audio to VBR aac or other format instead of CBR MP3, this will help in few category of genre to osund better and save space as well.

Better earphones require "Better Device"
This is my fourth pair of earphones in the last three years. Other three being Soundmagic PL21, Sennheiser CX180 Street II, JBL CS150. Coming to the earphones, I have been using it for four months. Bought it for ₹1699, copper colour. Build quality: It has really great build quality. The earpiece, control buttons unit and jack, all are made of machined aluminium. The wires are thin, contoured and shiny but feel sturdy enough to take some beating and don't catch dust and grime. Accessories: Seven pairs of buds to get the perfect personalized fit for that great music experience. A much needed carrying case and other stuff. Sound quality: With having an okay ear, I could understand the quality and details of music. One thing that I've noticed a lot in the reviews that everyone seems to blame the earphones but not their device. It depends a lot on the device you use. I'll give you an example. I have a Redmi 2 Prime phone. On this device, the sound qualiy was good. I was able to feel the clarity, bass etc, but not to a great extent. Later I got Mi A1. It has an inbuilt 10V DAC amplifier. The first time I plugged it in, I was like, this is how it's supposed to sound like. It was underperforming with Redmi, cause the impedance requirement is higher than other earphones and the amplifier really upped the game. The sound is louder, clearer and has wider sound stage. I can feel the tiniest of sound all because of the Mi A1. Hence, guys, don't just judge your earphones by using it on a single device, try a couple of other phones. Maybe your phone isn't capable enough. I am quite satisfied with it. One thing I would like to add is, if you are looking for bassy earphones, please don't go for it. This has a very balanced sound. No mid to high range earphones will have bass centric sound output. If I have to talk about comfort, I would rate CX180 the most. It was so comfortable that I could wear it for more than 5-6 hours at a stretch without even feeling that it's there. While using this one, it begins to mark it presence after 3 hours. I was in a fix while purchasing as I was also looking at Beyerdynamic Byron, but it was pricier at ₹3200( made in Germany, though) and came with nothing but a pouch. Hence, my suggestion to anyone looking for a really good pair of earphones is that you can go for this, provided your phone gives the output to match the performance levels of this earphone. Otherwise, it will perform like a supercar, being ridden in traffic. Won't be able to entertain the way it's supposed to.

Not Happy with delivery
Update: I ordered another pair of these beauties on 13Nov20 as I lost my old ones and got delivery on 17Nov20. This time I got cheated as the Shipping box and Product box packing was tempered already. When I checked the product was used and damaged. Although I like these earphone based on my past experience but I can't keep these used ones. I trust Amazon as it's a trustworthy site and I am very much happy with its services. It's an human mistake I understand. Waiting till Amazon sort out my issue. Will update my review soon after my return process. Thanks Great earphones with premium feel and performance. Rich bass, rich vocals and balanced high and low. I think I'm nobody to review these beauties only thing to say awesome deal near 1.5k for such great earphones. Look for genuine retailer like Cloudtail and go for it. Trust me u will not regret with your decision... Thanx Cloudtail and thanx Amazon for such a great service. I appreciate you guys for what you are providing to us.

Overall Good. Cheap Looks
The sound effect of these earphones is superb. I am not an audiophile, who listens to finer tones of music. My purpose of buying this is to attach it to my MacBook Air while watching movies. I am happy I purchased this. It works the way I wished it to. The cables feel a little different. They don't get tied in knots. It seems they are not rubbery; they are plasticky. Good, right? The black-gold look of the metal may look a little cheap. But, I don't mind it as the job of these earphones is to give me good sound. And, that it does well. (I bought this at about Rs. 1700 in a lightning deal.) I wish to warn you all about Amazon's much publicised discounts. Keep a watch on product's pricing before the offers start to understand the fluctuations well. As it happened with me, I bought my Dell laptop during a discount, but it was later sold at a far cheaper rate sans any annual sale going on. (See my review of Dell Laptop.) These sale offers are on limited products and the rest of the products are offered at a regular price. The advertisements of those limited discounted goods attract us to the site, and we end up buying things that are regularly priced. Even without any great offer they are available at some discount on the MRP. The Great Sale doesn't offer you any extra discount.

Amazingly beautiful sound!!!
My search for an outstanding earphones under 2k ended here. This is a gem of an earphone. But to be honest they were not love at first listen. It sounded tinny right out of the box. I was extremely disappointed and cursed those people who recommended it on various forums and also cursed what hi-fi for awarding them. I tried to return it but felt extremely disappointed that Amazon only accepted replacement and returns were not allowed. I only had two options. Sell it in used market or live with it. Assuming I would sell it, I took a shot and ordered Cowon em1 and Sennheiser cx180(I know they are not in the same league but I was hesitant to spend more on single earphones again. I strongly believed that I would choose one among those). I started using e10c with hesitation until the ordered phones arrive. Now, this is were I realised the transformation. After some burn in the tinny sound subsided. It sounded better and better day by day. I started liking them soooo much. This had more balanced sound, plenty of details, especially the soundstage was phenomenal. The carry case is extremely handy and gives a decent protection. The bass and mid bass was adequate and had the adequate punch. I was extremely satisfied with the way they sounded. The only limitation is it's sensitivity. I have to crank the volume up in my player to almost full inorder to get a reasonable volume. Anyways, Their output is sufficient enough for my listening. I highly recommend it. The only note is allow it to burn in for few hours. Comparison: Sennheiser arrived first. Sennheiser had warm presentation which I usually prefer but e10c outbeats it by miles. I felt that their sound was not that accurate and was distorted, especially in reasonably high volume levels. It's not to my liking. Then Cowon em1 arrived, It had a dark presentation but still delivered detailed sound. The mid bass was slightly more than e10c. They are never fatigue. The detailing and sound stage was very good. But still e10c outbeats it. But, I like these earphones next to e10c.

Liquid Terminator durable. Great sound quality.
I bought these headphones a little over three years ago. They still work great except the microphone stopped working at some point. I have never had ear bud headphones last this long without one of headphone going out. These headphones are incredible value. Sound quality is great. Probably the best sound quality of any earbuds in the sub $100 range. Ive taken this bad boy on the train, in the rain, knotted in my pocket for weeks, through the washing machine multiple times, 3 years of sweaty texas 5 mile runs and the sound quality is still great. Im buying another pair this weekend.
