Criterion Collection has truly outdone itself with CC40, an extraordinary celebration of cinema that spans decades of iconic and must-see films. This set is a dream come true for any true film aficionado. What stands out isn't just the incredible selection of titles—it’s the wealth of extras. As a collector of Criterion films, this is a must-have. A collection of Criterion Closet most favorited movies. May not be for everyone as it contains some more common titles that some may own, but I love the box set. I got it for half price on sale (Amazon and Barnes & Noble offer this a couple times a year) it's a beauty and I was so happy to add it to my collection.

This collection is superbly bound and presented. A definite conversation-starter and even quite a value compared to buying these individually. If I have one knock, it's that I wish they split the discs into two books instead of one. The single book is a beast (this thing is HEAVY) and I'm concerned about how it will hold up over time. I feel like rough or fumbly handling could cause the spine to fail. I see there are already the "reviews" from people who will never buy this collection but just needing to add their crybaby 2 cents, wondering why they chose the films they did or why this collection wasn't magically designed to fill the gaps in their personal collections. The description reads: "CC40’s eclectic selection includes the releases most frequently chosen by the hundreds of filmmakers, actors, writers, and other movie-loving luminaries who have visited Criterion over the years, as documented in our popular Closet Picks video series."

Good introduction to the collection, just a shame some Blu-ray discs in CC40 have already been replaced in my personal collection with 4K's from Criterion... oh well, another double dip or triple dip!

A fine box set celebrating Criterion Collection's 40th anniversary. I got it on sale for 1/2 off which works out to $10 per film - each film is remastered and comes with extensive bonus features, which are always high quality and make specifically for Criterion. If you think it's too expensive, easy, don't buy it. But don't rate the whole set poorly when you're really getting quite a bargain.

Great selection of movies to start off your collection. Cost-effective if purchased during a sale !

The item is fantastic and the price i paid was a steal. However there were some issues with some of the discs. They were stuck in their sleeves and there were parts of the paper (ink) that got stuck on the discs. I wiped it off and tried playing the blu ray discs and they played alright, but it's going to be a while before i can check them all.
