I can’t believe I haven’t already left a review! Love them!
You alone will know why an open ear headset might be something you’d want. So let me just focus on the function of these. Battery life is epic. I mean all day. I use them all day a lot of the time. Comfort is excellent. As I said, sometimes I wear them all day. I barely know they are there. In fact, sometimes I forget they are there. sizing is something we need to talk about. I am 6 feet tall and have a normal sized head I suppose and the mini ones fit me perfectly. I also have short hair so keep that in mind. The reason this is important is because the standard ones might give me a little more freedom without getting tight. I really don’t care about that because the minis allow me to sit in a chair without being uncomfortable when I put my head against the pillow. They can also be used in bed. In fact, sometimes I sleep all night long with these on, and they are still there when I wake up. If you can wear the mini and have a little bit of distance between your neck and head and you don’t have to look up a lot, get the mini! Otherwise get the standard ones and be aware that you probably won’t be able to put the back of your head against anything without removing them. Yes, you can pull them down and put them around your neck and they will stay there until you are ready to put them back over your ears. The sound is excellent. Especially once you download the app and boost the base a little. That is the essential feature of these with the extra speakers. However, they work just fine without the extra speakers as long as you were fine with a little treble. Since I normally listen. to podcasts, it doesn’t matter to me. I am just listening to some person‘s voice most of the time. However, if you use them in the classic mode, which means you are just getting the bone conduction, be aware that when you turn it up to a higher volume, you may feel some buzzing on your temples. I suppose I could look up the IP rating for these. I don’t know what it is. But I’ve worn them in the rain and not had any difficulties. USB-C charging is clutch! And I saved the best for last. The microphone call quality and noise, cancellation or voice isolation is really top notch. I mean, handset quality. I really prefer using these for telephone calls over AirPod earphones. These things blocked out a crowing rooster! I mean, wow! i’ve been using them for a few months and they seem to be pretty durable. No problems. The case that they come in is very nice and they charge quickly. I really don’t have a downside for these except maybe it would be nice to have the microphone extension Like the other model. But then again, the voice quality on these is so good. I don’t think I need it and that would just be something else in the way. I got these on sale. I don’t know what they cost right now. But if it is within your budget and you are considering them, just hit the buy button because they were great.

Best headphones on the market
I was introduced to bone conducting headphones years ago but only recently got into them. This is the third pair of Shokz I've bought. The first pair was for my husband. It has a boom mic. He loves them because he absolutely hates in-ear and over-ear headphones. He uses them for gaming. Sound quality is amazing. The second pair was bought for a friend who enjoys going on walks around town. He's able to take calls and listen to music without losing awareness of his surroundings. I bought this pair for myself. I love how well the mini fits me. The sound is amazing and clear. I don't turn them up past mid-level volume while gaming (like D4) still hear my surroundings (like when gaming with my partner). Connecting them to my computer for gaming is simple. They are light and easy to wear. Well worth it.

A fantastic device with one major setback
As soon as I started encountering multiple problems from my AirPods Pro 2 after 2 years of abusive use, I was in the market for some alternatives. Some of the features I prioritize in wireless earbuds are long battery life, good sound quality, simple and consistent Bluetooth connectivity, and ease of use. After some research, I came across the OpenRun Pro 2 with many reviews stating its improved sound quality compared to its predecessor. I was initially hesitant given by its high price tag and my unfamiliarity with the SHOKZ brand, but I decided to give their flagship product a shot. Here are some of my thoughts after 4 months of use. I went to the SHOKZ website to print out their measuring guide to decide between their standard and mini variants. I was a good half-inch over the cutoff limit for the mini. I still decided to buy the mini after reading some reviews expressing some discomfort with the standard size. The mini fits snugly on the back of my head, leaving room for two fingers to fit in-between. Sure, the headband doesn't droop down to the nape as intended by the cover pictures. Needless to say, I think I made the right decision with the size. The packaging is excellent with the OpenRun Pro 2 arriving fully charged in a moderately sized silicone case. I have never once used the case in my 4 months of use, optioning to throw the headband naked into my cramped backpack while commuting. The headphone still holds up fine after daily torture. The controls are arguably intuitive with the volume rocker on the right side and the function control button on the left. You use your right thumb to control the volume and the labels protrude slightly so you know which button to press by feel. The function control button is on the left side next to the driver near the temple with 1 press for play/pause, 2 presses for next track, and 3 presses for previous track. Long press will activate the virtual assistant. I am very impressed with the battery life of this product. With moderate use at half volume, I can easily exceed 12 hours without needing to charge compared to 2-3 hours from my AirPods Pro 2. I have absolutely no complaints with battery management here. Bluetooth connectivity is also impressive, allowing me to walk around the house and my backyard with minimal dropouts. Multipoint pairing on this device is the best I have seen so far. I can seamlessly switch between my phone and my computer with the controls responding to the connected host currently playing any media. Latency is also not an issue at all. I am very particular with sound quality, and the OpenRun Pro 2 meets my expectation. The treble is crystal clear. The bass is quite lean and well-controlled, but the sub-bass doesn't extend far enough to be audible without EQ. Timbre sounds natural, but it can sound a bit "glassy" at times. While their mobile app is easy to navigate with product guides and online firmware updates, nearly all of their EQ presets are terrible. Bass boost is very muddy and bloated. Vocal is inferior to the classic preset. Treble boost straight up hurts my ears. My custom 5-band EQ is +3 and +2 on their 1st and 2nd band respectively and I tone down the 3kHz band by -1. Stick with either the standard or classic presets if needed. I often use my AirPods Pro 2 to listen to podcasts and audiobooks on the bed before going to sleep. As a side-sleeper, the OpenRun Pro 2 has been nothing short of amazing! With the excellent sound quality and battery life, I can watch YouTube videos or listen to audiobooks with my ear pressed against the pillow with little to no discomfort. The headband will still be on my head by the time I wake up. I can set an alarm without disturbing family members with the drivers next to my ears. This is a terrific sleeping aid for side-sleepers. My biggest complaint by far with the OpenRun Pro 2 has to be the volume control. I wish there is more variability of sound intensity with the discrete volume control, especially between 30-40% volume. I will often walk around my neighborhood late at night, jamming through my music playlist with little ambient noise. At 30%, the volume intensity is too quiet to enjoy the music, but stepping up one unit results in the device suddenly being too loud. It's as if they opted to switch the gain at those levels and it disappoints me to hear this issue persist despite multiple firmware updates. There is never a sweet spot of volume intensity between 30-40%. Overall, it has been a pleasure to use the OpenRun Pro 2. The headband fits nicely around my head. The sound quality is impressive. Battery life is spectacular! And it is forever anointed on my head as I sleep. There are some features I have yet to test such as microphone quality, sweat resistance, and bone conductivity. Yes, classic mode uses bone conductivity, but I have not used that preset enough to fully develop solid opinions. I guess if you want a more mid-forward tonality, then go with classic, however, my custom preset has been sufficient enough for daily use. If they could somehow fix the volume issue, I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a substitute wireless earbud/headphone if their budget supports it.

Comfortable headset
The SHOKZ OpenRun Pro 2 Mini bone conducting Bluetooth headset is an awesome way to connect to others via Bluetooth. The sound quality is great on both ends. It is made of quality materials including the band being made of titanium for flexibility and lightweight. It is so lightweight and comfortable that you will forget that you have it on. You can wear it all day and it will not bother you at all. The headset is water resistant and it does not go into your ear canal so it protects your hearing and does not interfere with you hearing the outside elements which is a safety feature. You can always hear what is going on around you. The battery charges quickly with the included charging cable and the battery life is extremely long for such a small device. It also comes with a nice storage case to store them and the charging cable in while not using.

Really enjoying these!
I always thought people looked a little strange wearing these, but changed my mind after trying a pair. Ok, so maybe people still look a little strange, but they work really well. I recently tried out a pair of Shokz at Cisco Live! and decided to try replacing my existing office headset with a pair. My office headset works great, except that it goes on the ears and I get extreme fatigue after wearing it for a while. I ordered a pair of Shokz OpenCom 2 UC. They worked great and did a good job at managing my laptop and phone simultaneously with multiple collaboration type calls (Webex, Teams, Zoon). But, they also left the back of my ears a little sore. I thought I would get used to it, but never quite did. And, because of the boom mic, they weren't super functional outside of an office environment. If you are thinking of something to replace you existing headset, I'd give these a try. Queue Amazon Prime day and I saw the Open Run Pro 2s on sale for a substantial discount, and it was still within the window to return my OpenComm 2 pair. I orderd the Open Run Pro 2s in a mini, and they fit great. More comfortable than the OpenComm 2 pair, and the sound is still excellent. I've not had a single complaint that people couldn't hear me or that I sounded distant or muffled. Admittedly, they do not handle being paired to multiple devices and juggle calls/music/collaboration as well as the OpenComm pair, but it's a very minor inconvinience. The biggest inconvinience is that they don't have a dedicated mute button on the headset (the OpenComm 2 does) - there are some videos and information about using both buttons to mute it, but I've never gotten that to work. But again, they are more functional outside of the office so this is a trade off. Overall, I am sticking with these due to their comfort and increased usability for both in and out of the office. So far, I wear these just about all day from when I jump on my first call, until I am completely done with work, and then I still sometimes will wear them around the yard/property. No soreness, no fatigue. Another bonus of these is that you can wear earplugs and still hear music or calls. Why would you do this? I often am operating loud equipment, such as a chainsaw, and while I can't hear the music while I'm running the motor as soon as I stop I don't have to take out my earplugs and I'm good to go. Kind of neat. I've only had these a couple of weeks, but so far the battery has been great, and even after a full day of calls and listening to music I am still at a "medium" battery level (they only tell you high, medium, low). I wouldn't use these in a scenario where I actively want to block out sound, but that's not the intended use. They are meant to allow you to hear the sounds around you and for that they work very well. I have small ear canals and can never find any earbuds that fit me.

Great Sound and Battery Life — Make Sure You Get the Right Head Size
⭐ Rating: 5/5 These are amazing overall, but sizing is something you definitely want to pay attention to before ordering. 🔧 What I used it for: Daily use for music, calls, and general listening around the house and while working. ✅ Pros: Very comfortable once you get the correct size Excellent battery life for how compact they are Bluetooth range is strong — works across the house without dropouts Good sound quality for everyday listening Lightweight and easy to wear for long periods ❌ Cons: Sizing is important — I had to exchange the first set for a smaller size If the fit is off, comfort and sound isolation will suffer 🧠 Details: Once I got the correct size, these fit really well and became extremely comfortable even during long listening sessions. Battery life has been impressive considering how small they are — I don’t feel like I’m constantly charging them. Bluetooth connection has also been solid, with no issues moving around the house while staying connected. The main thing to watch out for is getting the correct size from the start, since that makes a big difference in both comfort and performance. 🏁 Final Verdict: Excellent everyday headphones with great battery life, comfort, and range. Just make sure you measure your head and get the right size the first time — once fitted correctly, they’re fantastic.

I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THESE SOONER!!!
Just got these set up. I feel like an absolute idioto! Why have I been sleeping on ordering these for so long! So incredibly better than my other in ear headphones! The sound quality on both ends is superior! I washed dishes earlier and the person on the other end had no idea I even was! Mind blowing! I’ve wasted so much money buying multiple pairs of “fruit headphones” and “drum headphones” that I could have saved hundreds had I just ordered these sooner! The app is easy to navigate & is user friendly! Setup was a breeze! The mini’s fit my tiny head perfectly! The carrying case is so luxe! They charge fast & easily! Best value & money I’ve spent on headphones in over 10+ years! I can leave my phone on the other end of the house & go to grab my mail and take out the trash before they start to sound glitchy! I live on 1 acre and I couldn’t even walk to the other end of my house with my old headphones! They don’t distort any of my sound quality for a long distance!!!! BUY THESE!!!! I PROMISE YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!!

the search for bluetooth earbuds or headphones continues
So this is another failed purchase for me. I'm so frustrated. My main challenge is fit. I'm an average height female and I am slim but don't feel "petite" in terms of my bone structure. And I don't look like a pinhead... But I have discovered through these recent purchases that my ears and skull must be unusually petite. What I like about these Shokz Mini _______ **They actually have a Mini size for folks with smaller measurements, despite not fitting me **The bluetooth is very strong and I can stay connected to my computer while walking around about 3/4 of our 1 story 2000 square foot home, better than any other bluetooth earbuds/headphones I own **Simple interface, no manual needed, no fat finger mistakes, love it **Great idea for outdoor activities because I can still hear cars, people, pets, nature for the purpose of staying safe **Comfortable even when I wear glasses, which is what is driving the search for a new bluetooth audio headset/earbuds. What I don't like about these _______ **The fit. Despite being "mini" sized, I can easily fit all five fingers with room for more in the floppy space between the headband and my head. The headband catches on my collar and presses in on the sofa and high backed work chair. So I can choose text neck posture or let my head take the pressure. In a couple words: these hurt after about 45 minutes. The only workarounds would be to wear tops with no collar (like a tank top) and not ever sit down in my work chair or sofa. **Voice audio like video and phone calls sounds terrible **The perceived volume and audio quality adjusts up and down if my jaw is moving (drinking water, talking, eating, chewing gum). Not a deal breaker but it's a weird experience. And I'm a gum chewer. **More of a nitpick: It's 2025 and these came with a USB type A cable. Seriously? What I've tried so far: _______ ***Shokz: audio quality and fit are both poor, even the Mini size ***Beats Fit Pro: solid audio, exceptionally poor fit. The wings are too long for my petite ears. ***Sony WF-1000XM5: incredible audio, probably the best I've heard in bluetooth. But the fit is off. XS ear tip is too small. S is too big. If I chew gum or eat or talk one of the ear buds falls out. If I try to adjust the earbud position there's no place to touch them without turning them off, turning the volume up, skipping a song, ending a call. It's a poor user interface. Also the best audio quality is only obtained with a 3rd party app + account that captures a frightening amount of personal data. I deleted it as soon as I saw what it would do and accepted the lower quality audio, but they keep falling out or they hurt if I mash the larger size eartip in my ear. ***Airpods Pro models: sound okay but not nearly good enough for the price. Poor fit. Always fall out of my ears. Also very delicate. Break easily. Replacement = $$$. Apple Care is more of a prepaid discount than a full on warranty with these. ***Airpods Max: My favorite for a few years despite the weight and expense. But I recently got bifocals and didn't want to do the one contact lens for distance and one contact lens for reading solution because it messes up my dominant eye for sports. Net: contacts are out All Over the ear style headphones push the glasses bow into my head which hurts. Ouch! Bose is up next. This is getting so expensive. Even if I had an unlimited budget I worry I won't find a fit that is close enough to stay in my ears, not hurt, and sound OK.
