Does whats needed at a very reasonable price.
Firstly do not expect premium as this is a low cost item. The Pros are it works well, is very light for carriage and easy to use, just plug n go. The lit effect on the top is a nice touch and is switchable on/off. The fitted cable saves having to keep a cable hanging around for connection. It comes with a power A to C type cable if needed. The cons are, the case is a little flimsy so do not put anything on it or it will affect the use, possibly even doing damage, that would be a normal avoidance anyway with most external disc drives. To write a disc I had to use the power cable to supply the extra wattage needed, but reading was fine without once it was recognised by the pc. Not all motherboards supply the same usb wattage on the pins and the main usb on the rear of pc is always best for that. The fitted cable whilst being good with a Type A and C connectors could do with being longer, for a laptop maybe ok but a pc would require you to be able to reach the drive rather than the convenience of placing on top or in easy view at the side. In conclusion, a great drive for portability and carriage, works well with windows drivers and programs like Nero for writing, looks very tidy and modern, comes with everything needed, is plug n play, and has additional slots on the rear for memory cards and usb hub. Highly recommend it as a low budget addition to any modern system, many of which no longer come with fitted drives.

Cheap but nice features
Decent small form factor DVD player with extra features in the form of USB ports and SD readers. Works very well and the USB C power input means you can use your phone charger to take the load from your laptop or Surface. I'm always a little wary of built in cables because if they break the device is ruined but on the other hand it saves space, seems a pretty solid cable and at this price... Plus it connects to USB A or USB C which is handy, I want to use it with a desktop, laptop and Surface, it plugs straight into all of them. Nice lights too. A very bare bones item with no software, but it seems to be working fine with Windows.

A reliable and flexible device that is very competitively priced against devices with similar spec.
There are lots of these multi-function optical disc drives listed and I can't remember why I ended up with this particular model, but I have been using it for four or five months now and I'm very happy with it. The optical drive works fine to rip music CDs and to read old data discs with images and forgotten device drivers. I haven't tried it with a DVD but it appears to be compatible with most formats. "The optical drive supports CD/DVD burning and reading, and the optical drive supports various optical disc formats such as CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW." The card reader and usb hub isn't superfast but it does the job ok. There's only one USB 3.0 port. The other three are USB2.0, so ok for pen drives and the like. However, there is also a USB Type-C port for transferring data, and there's one SD card slot and one Micro SD TF card slot. The only small niggle I have is that the optical drive cable is short, but that appears to be common to all of the devices listed. I've just attached a USB 3.0 extension cable so it can be easily moved around my desktop and that works fine. All in all it's proved to be a useful, reliable and flexible device and it's very competitively priced against similar devices with the same spec.

Great little drive ideal for use with a mini PC or laptop.
Really good value for money. This drive acts as a USB hub and greatly enhances the functionality of a laptop with limited ports. The DVD drive/writer works perfectly.

A Poor purchase!
Worked OK with windows 11 for three months then began to stop reading the discs intermittently, till it stopped reading them altogether. No guarantee or seller contact details on the Amazon site! A poor purchase!

Works a treat, great value
I previously bought a cheaper £8 DVD Player but it wouldn't play anything and my Windows !! PC wouldn't recognise it. So I thought I'd select a player that has thousands of good reviews and few bad ones and chose this one. OK, It cost £10 more but plays CD audio, DVD movies and DVD Rom, with no problems at all, plus this machine has the added convenience of acting as a hub too, so it's great for connectivity also. For those interested in aesthetics, the wording on the top of the player is illuminated with varying colours whilst connected to the pc.

Not plug and play on all laptops.
Works perfectly for reading memory cards but I have a lenovo laptop which wouldn't let the disc driver plug and play so I downloaded the basic VLC Media Player as well as the VLC UWP extension. It didn't want to work properly with just VLC (the film would open but it would be flashing the video on and off while the audio played sort of ok) but the moment I downloaded the VLC UWP it was able to make DVD’s play! Yay! It was a bit of a struggle to use at first but the UWP made the difference. Noise wise it's no louder than a small desk fan and the LED lights have a teensy little switch on the back to turn them off for nighttime watching. I'm only taking that star away because of how difficult it was at first to get it to play DVD’s on its own, it just kept giving me options to burn onto the discs and not actually play anything. So really the stars should go to VLC for being MVP's.

Annoying illuminated text on top can be disabled.
The illuminated text on top is annoying but easily removed. The panel is held on by double sided sticky tape and the two wires can be cut.. The micro SD card slot and CD/DVD drive both work on Linux Mint (A flashed BIOS to remove ChromeOS on an x86-64 Chromebook).

Looks aren’t everything!
The item looks great but that is about all it does. After about 3 seconds it stops loading any CD or DVD and doesn’t work. Such a pity. Build quality is also poor.
