Mediterranean Gin, 70 cl | Super-Premium Spirit with Basil, Thyme, Rosemary & Arbequina Olive Botanicals | 42.7% ABV

Wonderful, flavorful gin. A slight savouriness to it which I love. Great with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of pink grapefruit or lemon.

This is an amazing gin. I am a massive gin fan and I overheard an assistant in Waitrose recommend it to a customer. Since then, it has been on my list of things to try and I am so annoyed it has taken me so long to discover it, the man was not wrong! The bottle is beautiful, which is somewhat irrelevant but a nice bonus, and it is so damn smooth and delicious with orange peel. There are so many good quality gins out there but this one really does stand out.

My usual go to gin for dirty martini's is Opihr (affordable, tastes nice, most shops stock it) but Gin Mare is definitely a treat! Very smooth in cocktails, would be a perfect gift for any gin lovers, the bottle is fancy, and I love the Mediterranean flavours. Just a minor negative comment and that the safety seal doesn't seem that 'safe'. I've bought this twice and every time I open the bottle the seal doesn't tear, instead it rather lifts from the glass. So even if I opened and closed it, it would still look like a new bottle due to the seal not actually tearing. I think this aspect of the bottle should be redesigned. Other than that, delicious gin and would continuously buy!

I have something of a gin habit and rather geekily score gins for both g&t and martini on a spreadsheet (I mix 1:5 with a twist of lemon, well I don't mix it myself thats what husbands are for ) . I score out of ten and I give my go to gin (Bombay London) a 5 out of 10 to act as a baseline to judge against. We score more than once so I get an idea of how they taste over different times and occasions. Please remember these scores are personal and what I like you might not. So on to Gin Mare G&T 7/10 Martini 6/10 This Spanish gin makes a very nice Mediterranean gin. It is superb with a sprig of rosemary but also works with the more traditional garnishes in my opinion. For the martini we paired it with Noilly Pratt. It definitely isn't a classic martini but it is still. The flavours of the Mediterranean botanicals are very distinctive. I will definitely be buying Gin Mare again. It isn't particularly cheap but it is a lovely gin.

The gin itself is nice enough, not overly strong in flavour like some others. It has quite a long aftertaste but not unpleasant. Overall, I prefer Hendricks and Roku especially when I found the Roku ar 23 quid. They have to do something about that lid though as mine was like it was superglued on. I was on the verge of trying a set of locking pliers after damp cloths and hefty gloves failed when it suddenly opened.
