Enchantra (Wicked Games, 2)

Oh this is for sure one of my 5 ⭐️ read! I enjoyed every second of it. The story was so entertaining. The games were fun to read. I thought Rowin and Genevieve were interesting characters. The tension between them you can cut with a knife. I think why made this even better was how intriguing all the other characters were. Every component to this story was entertaining. Also this was a bit of a slow burn and I think I really enjoyed that. Loved this read!! 🌶️🌶️.5/5

Loved it! I put this off for a while because I loved Phantasma so much and wasn’t ready to move on to new characters but wow, was that a mistake. This book was as good, if not better than the first! Genevieve and Rowin have amazing chemistry, and their personalities are so strong and vibrant, it was beautiful to read their story. My only critique would be that the end felt a bit drawn out to end the way it did. I know the standalones are interconnected but something about it was a little off for me. The end of the Hunt felt sudden, but the actual book tapered off slowly— just odd pacing for me. Other than that, I would say this book will easily make my rereads list, and the next one will be an instant buy! Can’t wait to get more of the macabre romance Kaylie Smith is so good at delivering!

Kaylie Smith has shattered all of my assumptions and beliefs with Enchantra. I did not expect this book to live up to the hype I built around this book release in my mind because Phantasma was my number one favorite read last year. While my hopes were high, my expectations were low that this story would be anywhere as good as Phantasma. Kaylie Smith took those assumptions and expectations and completely annihilated them. This is a 10 star read for me for a number of reasons! I thought I had an amazing connection to Ophelia, Blackwell, and Genevieve in Phantasma, but that connection was truly deepened with Genevieve and Rowin’s story. Vivi is reckless, lost, and looking for her place in the world. She is usually her own worst enemy, but she faces everything with dogged determination and bravery. I see so much of myself in her. Rowin is determined to release his family from the devil’s curse and save his mom, and Vivi has no place in those plans. But don’t forget, the games must go on, despite what anyone says or does. There was so much charm, magic, and mystery within this book that I could not help but gobble this up! The banter… Chef’s kiss! The way these two tried to keep each other at arms length and keep their hearts protected before finally caving and giving in was magnificent. I really didn’t think I could, or would, love this book as much as I did Phantasma, but I did… Do! The games are just as deadly, but the plan to eradicate the villain is a surprising turn of events. I have many thoughts and feelings still rolling around in my head about this story, but I absolutely loved the ending and the answers it provided, even if I am now completely devastated because I now want more! Kaylie has completely captivated me with this series, and I don’t think I will ever get enough. The way she evokes such a visceral reaction and feeling from me while I am reading her books, I am truly exhausted, but oh so elated and fulfilled. I read this book so quickly, literally just a few hours, and just completely fell under its spell, and now I’m fighting the urge to just go back and read it again. Kaylie, I don’t want to rush you, but I NEED you to write another book within this series quickly! No pressure though! ❤️

It says something when you have an Early copy of the book but still go and purchase the finished version to have on your shelf. This was one of my highly anticipated books for 2025 and it did not disappoint!! Many times when I’ve read a fantastic book the second one goes through different levels of a sophomore slump, especially when the series is to continue on. Not only did that not happen this book surpassed Phantasma! One problem I had with Phantasma, which was one of my favorite books of 2024, and prevented me from giving it 5 stars was that it had too much spice in it. Now I didn’t mind spice but the plot and writing was so good it didn’t need as much as it had as it took away from the story. Thankfully, in Enchantra that did NOT happen. It was very well balanced where the spice supported and uplifted the plot appropriately. I loved the relationship between Rowin and d Genevieve and how it built throughout the book. The games were even more engaging than what she and her sister had to endure in Phantasma. I am so incredible thankful to have gotten a complimentary audio ALC from Second Sky, and particularly Noelle H through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review. At first I wasn’t sure about the Narrator, Laura Horowitz but I couldn’t put my finger on why when I first started listening. I had been so excited to start it that when o got access at 5:15am I started it immediately. I made it to 20% and exhaustion won out so I went back to bed. I decided to start it from the beginning again when I was able to sit down and listen again. I am so glad so did because Horowitz did a fabulous job! It was such a great example of how your experience listening to a book can be completely transformed depending on your mood and tiredness or lack there of. Horowitz did a great job with all the different voices and I appreciate that she didn’t choose a high pitch for Genevieve despite her being a young woman. She also spoke a a fairly natural pace, a little on the slower end of typical, at the 1x speed. I did bump it up to 1.25x but no further as I didn’t want to rush listening. The book comes out on April 8th 2025 and I can’t wait to get my physical copy! I also can’t wait until the third installment which is expected the fall of 2025. My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars ⭐️ Hated it ⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Genevieve Grimm has been restless since her sister Ophelia beat Phantasma and became happily coupled up with the Prince of the Devils. When a mysterious invitation to Italy arrives, Genevieve jumps at the chance. Rowin Silver answers the door at the address Genevieve is seeking and tries to send her away. Genevieve has never liked taking orders, though, and sneaks in. What she finds within the palace is nothing like what she expected. Before long, Genevieve and Rowin find themselves married and playing a deadly game with fatal consequences. Enchantra is book two in the Wicked Games series by Kaylie Smith. I’d highly recommend reading Phantasma first to really immerse yourself in this world. I had such a fun time reading this! The enemies-to-lovers marriage of convenience was the perfect set-up for tons of spicy chemistry and snappy banter. I loved the relationship between Rowin and Genevieve right from the start. The game itself made for a real page-turner. I was desperate to see who would emerge victorious. I was shocked time and again by alliances shifting and danger coming from unexpected places! If you’re a romantasy, dark romance, or spicy romance reader, give this series a try! It’s a wild, entertaining ride.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a wonderful fantasy romance and the world is super whimsical. I liked the characters a lot but I liked the characters in the first book a lot more. This was still super fun to read and I would highly recommend it.

Genevieve wasn’t trained like her sister, and it took her a while to realize her family has issues and she doesn't like to be alone, but she does have magic, just is used to hiding it. Ophelia has taken over the family legacy and embraces the title of necromancy. Genevive is naive but trying to learn. She is looking for an answer that has led her to Italy. She used her feline curvy wiles to help her in the new area, her demon ex-boyfriend is what haunts her, and encouraged to chase the letter and the invitation to Enchantra. This book reads much more historically and ghostly than the other; it is more subtle but less enthralling. Her powers are very cool as we get the display them. Her welcome isn’t warm in Enchantra, but she wants an audience with Barrington. His voice is so deep. Once inside, it's like she is exploring a haunted mansion. Omg I love Rowington's voice and the umbra. She finally found the man she was looking for, but also a whole host of questions. A house full of wraiths and a night she can’t leave, this gets spooky. Add in a death game of the HUNT. We do get the details of this spooky game, and in the worst possible way. Oh, this gets interesting with a fake relationship/marriage of convince to a wraith and one of the Silver Sons at that. All this to live through the game. Oh, Knox gets her anyway, and then we get Mirror Portal and a unique warmer setting. I love the descriptions. With the banner with Rowin, they have a whole enemies-to-lovers going on. He is something grumpy, ghostly, and of course, the last thing she wants. The whole family of the Silvers is like a dramatic soap opera that never ends. Her materialistic sensibility is very drama queen-like like which is honestly quite annoying . There are a lot of descriptions and this story is slow-moving, but the enemies-to-lovers storyline is quite though. It carries from online bed to marriage of convince. The important part of the storyline is covered by all the details. Genevieve is looking for acceptance, family, and individuals like her powers and family. But are the games really the place for this? Geneve has no survival skills and is constantly making the wrong choice despite her husband's insistence. She is annoying as an MC. I’m not as much in love with this story as I was with Phantasma. But we’ll see how it ends. This gets steamy as they have some shadow play with the wraith. But it took a while and had the help of some drinks. Admit the life and death of the games. This does get steamy, but it is a very slow burn and angsty. When they do get steamy, they do finally move into torture and oral play. But it is smoking hot when the shadows get involved. More games, more family drama lead to a trip to hell and a visit to the other side of the games. Genevieve and Rowin act more romantically, but will it last? As if this can’t get twisted enough, at the end it gets knotted like a sailor's rope. The ending of this is just as confusing as the start. Genevieve and Rowin have come a long way, and we finally get a happy romance with them, but it is still sooo twisted, and she is still so needy. I enjoyed the cast of characters and the basic premise of the storyline; it was interesting and twisted, but not as good as Phantasma. I didn’t enjoy the fmc and her constant high-maintenance attitude. Rowin and his family were delightful and charming and different, but it didn’t make up for the fact that the main character was absolutely no heroine. She wasn’t damaged or anything other than a brat. Unfortunately, it wasn’t endearing to me.

Enchantra by Kaylie Smith will fuel your desire for a dark romantasy. One which features complex relationships intriguing and complicated puzzles coupled with the enemies to lover's trope. Prepare for a hazardous journey into the supernatural world where survival is the ultimate goal. Enchantra is the second book on Kaylie Smith's Wicked Games series. Wow! What a sequel? After my experience with Phantasma I had high hopes for Enchantra, and she did not disappoint. Enchantra follows Genevieve Grimm the younger sister of the heroine from Phantasma. In this installment Genevieve intercepts an invitation meant for mother. Unfortunately, her mother died and so she decides to take up the invitation. This decision led her to Tuscany, Italy. On her arrival she got caught up in a deadly game of hide and seek in an enchanted mansion. A game which led to a marriage of convenience and one where survival is not guaranteed. I had lots of fun with this one. The characters despite their dysfunctionalities made the story a treat. The heroine and the hero made a perfect match. It took me sometime to warm up to Genevieve, but when I finally did, I enjoyed her role. Feisty, argumentative and brave, poor Rowin didn't know what hit him. Their romance was intense. They both had baggage. Geneive needed to stay alive at all costs and Rowin had ensure her safety. These issues served as a barrier to their attraction, but not for long. Rowin's siblings added a little more zing the situation. Getting to know the family will leave you with the desire to be a part of them, dysfunctionalities and all. Enchantra is a solid addition to the Wicked Games series, and I look forward to the next book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I absolutely devoured this book. Enchantra was dark, addictive, and ridiculously fun from start to finish. The banter was sharp, witty, and perfectly balanced with the darker undertones of the story. Every interaction crackled with tension and chemistry, making the romance feel intense and earned. The games were one of my favorite parts, genuinely thrilling, high-stakes, and so well executed that I couldn’t put the book down. Each challenge raised the tension and pulled me deeper into the story. The spice level hit just right for me. Steamy, emotionally charged, and woven naturally into the plot instead of overpowering it. The romance and power dynamics kept me hooked the entire time. And that ending… absolutely brilliant. Shocking, bold, and impossible to forget. The kind of ending that makes you immediately want to reread everything and desperately need the next book. If you love dark romantasy with clever banter, dangerous games, intense chemistry, and a jaw-dropping finale, Enchantra is a must-read. One of my standout reads and an easy five stars.
