Death Wish

The movie does quite well despite its cliche plot and supporting Vincent D'Onofrio as his brother wasn't bad but it made me wonder why he was in the film. His character didn't bring anything that helped move the story along. The overall reminds a lot of "Glass" where Bruce becomes a kind of superhero that can't be killed and has some side abilities that are nearly magical. In this movie his character is a doctor taking the law into his own hands for righting a wrong done to this family. As expected this totally fits Bruce as he is well casted for the role. The movie was good and flowed well and is a keeper. To note - my copy had some kind of defects where the movie freezes a couple of times despite the disc looking perfectly clean. It is a used copy though.

This review is for the movie "Death Wish with Bruce Willis" on BluRay. First of all, stop comparing this to the Charlie Bronson movies. This film is NOT a remake or competition for any of the Bronson versions. The words death wish do not mean Charlie Bronson. Death wish means a person who is so hell bent on revenge that his own life is less important than the revenge for a horrible event that affected his life. Bruce Willis fits this roll perfectly. Bruce plays an ordinary man who's home life was invaded and practically destroyed by the lowest form of criminal scum who break into his home, kill his wife and severely injures his daughter. She is in a coma for days. A fuse blows in Bruce's head as he does everything and anything he can to track down the killers and do the kind of justice that the law would probably never do. He hunts them down one by one and slowly inflicts big time pain and then finally kills them coldly after he gets the information he wanted. Some would call him a cold blooded murderer, some would say it was poetic justice. Some even say the punishments fit the crime. There may be truth in all of the above. But no matter how you look at it or what your values are, you can't help but find yourself cheering for Bruce Willis's character. I guess that has always been the point behind the "Death Wish" movies. I won't give away the end, but you will smile and maybe cheer. The BluRay (1080p) version is super clean with great color and brightness to contrast ratios. The sound is DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 Surround, and they make good use of all 5 channels. I hope Bruce Willis makes a couple more Death Wish movies. He played the roll very well, it fit him like a glove.

This is a hardcore movie, in the tradition of Death Wish style violence. Some old schooler traditionalists will not allow a modernization of this sub genre, but it's here. Perhaps if it did not carry the DW name, it would have been more popular. The kills put the original to shame with regards to the ultra violence and Willis is just the guy for it. However... This physical product is a 1⭐... It includes a Blu, a DVD and a Digital Code (which as of today still works), BUT came in a case that was already broken on the inside and not able to close, and instead of standard cellophane enclosed it was heat shrink sealed which, of course, always causes the clear plastic on the case to get perma-wrinkled. Almost like it was repackaged in a junk case and that's why it's cheap. 🤷‍♂️

Good movie and good price.

I love this remake of the original Death Wish, transposed onto Chicago, from the original New York. Bruce Willis is perfect as the aggrieved ER doctor whose wife is murdered and his daughter brutalized in a home robbery, and finds the means to carry out some justice of his own in the streets. It is more satisfying in some ways than the original Death Wish, as the doctor hunts down and kills off the perpetrators. The only unrealistic piece comes at the end where he kills the bad guy with a full-auto machinegun, in Chicago, where finding a handgun is in itself something of a bureaucratic nightmare. A double-barreled would have fitted the movie better. In this way, Willis, the private citizen, having his own legally owned and held machine-gun, the film is used as a back-handed attack on the availability of such weapons in the US--which are very difficult to get anywhere. Less realistic than the original, but extremely well-acted.

Death Wish is a great mindless action movie that has put Bruce Willis back in the driver's seat. He definitely took a lot of bad roles in the last decade, but this one definitely kicked ass! The one thing that was a shock to me was, Eli Roth directed this. When I first saw the previews for this, I remember thinking to myself, "That looks cool!" but didn't notice Eli Roth's name. After seeing his moves, I gave up on him for having the most gruesome movies that were horrible, but not this one! I don't want to say anything about this movie and spoil it, but I can recommend this movie to action junkies who love action and don't need a deep heavy plot to enjoy it. If you're in the group of hating that type of genre, I don't recommend this for you. Whether you rent or buy, you won't be disappointed!

上映している劇場が近くになく、正規のＤＶＤもなかなか発売されないので、待ち切れずに購入しました。 英西仏の3か国語対応はさすがアメリカ。語学学習者の方は是非挑戦を。当然、日本語は無しです。そのうちいつかと思いつつまだ見ていない特典映像やコメンタリー、予告編も普通に収録。あと省資源のため日本版と比べるとペラッペラのケースには驚くことと思いますが、きちんと役割は果たしています。 ストーリー展開はＣ．ブロンソン主演のオリジナルを地で行くものですが、違いは主人公の職業が建築家ではなく人の命を預かる医者であること（なので犯罪による死の不条理さは常々見ている、という設定に活きています）、従軍経験の有無（湾岸かアフガンあたりを出すかと思いましたがそれは無かった）、主人公の２つ名（自警団ではなく死神）。 Ｂ．ウィリスは個人的にどうしてもダイハードのマクレーン刑事のイメージが強く、事前情報では銃を持ち慣れていない設定という事もあり、違和感があるかな？と思いましたが、止めに来た弟相手に堪えていた感情をぶちまけるなどのシリアスな場面での演技はとても決まっていましたし、後半はアクションもばっちりで満足の行く作品でした。出来れば久々に劇場の大きなスクリーンで見たりパンフ買ったりしたかった。ブロンソン版を見た方なら分かるであろう、ラストシーンでの例のポーズにはニヤリ。反面、ネタバレになるので言いませんが、前作中盤の印象的な≪あるシーン≫を入れなかった事には好感が持てます（敢えて、でしょうねきっと）。サプライズだったのはカージーの弟役の俳優。かなり前にサンディエゴだかパリスアイランドだかのブートキャンプ（もちろん映画の中）で見たような記憶があるぞ、という方も多いのでは。 最後に。本編とは無関係な事ですが、国内仕様のＤＶＤプレーヤーで再生できない為、リージョンフリーのプレーヤーをご購入される方は、「リージョン１～６全てに対応」なのか「リージョンＡＬＬのディスクのみ対応」なのかを事前にご確認される事をお勧め致します。

on time and in good condition, excellent minus film, more problem of character development, Bruce Willis perfect for role, should be a second but like Mad Max films better more story development for it

I enjoyed Bruce in this movie as much as I did Charles Bronson.
