Our Recliner is less than 6 years old and stopped working all of a sudden. This $12 Fromann 2 Button/Controller Switch kept us from spending lots of money on having someone to come and try to repair our Recliner or even worse spending hundreds of dollars on having to buy a new Recliner all together. Like others have mentioned the overall length of the cord is 1 Foot shorter than the factory cord so you will need to get creative and re-route the cord in order to connect it back into the Motor. The original cord is 78 inches long. To remove the round cover on the side of the Recliner where you operate the Button/Controller, press in on the outer ring slightly and then twist and spin it about a quarter of a turn and it should come off easily. Once you remove this round cover, there are 4 Screws that mounts the Button/Controller to the side of the Recliner. Then it can be pushed out of the mounting hole from the backside. ((When removing the old Button/Controller, pay attention to the orientation of how the buttons are positioned so that the new Button/Controller is installed the correct way or the Recliner will open incorrectly.)) Make sure that the cord has enough "flex room" to operate the Recliner Opened and Closed or you could possibly pinch or stretch the cord and break and snap it in half. I used Velcro rather than Zipties to allow for enough flex room. On the underside of the Recliner, you will need to remove several Staples from the fabric in order to get to where the cord is attached. There are several clips that will need to be removed that hold the cord in place. The new Button/Controller can be installed and ready to go in under 1 hour and will save you hundreds of dollars by replacing it yourself.

I was very happy with this replacement part. It took about 10 minutes maximum to install, including the time required to turn the couch over and remove the original control button.

I have a reclining sectional we bought from rooms to go about 5 years ago. A year ago (the couch was 4 years old) the main seat I used stopped reclining. I read on a forum that the button fails and unless you noticed the motor was struggling, try replacing the button first and see if that works. So I did that, and it fixed the problem. Fast forward a year and the new button failed. Once again, I replaced only the button and it’s working again. Now that I’ve had two failures, I wonder if something in the motor or transformer is causing the buttons to short out. My guess is the buttons are failing as a result of cheaper parts used in the couch. That being said, I’m not an electrician. I’m not a mechanic, and I’m not smart enough to know for sure if that’s true or not. So I’m subtracting a star only because the original button lasted 4 years and this one only lasted 1. Again, I’m not sure that’s the button’s fault but it could be! I’d recommend buying two. Keep one on hand because in my experience it WILL fail. And when it does, you can replace it right away and not lose your chair for a few days while a replacement is shipped.

This fits where it should and plugs into a standard 5 pin plug. Works great, and the price was right. Measure your opening and how much cable you need before ordering.

Saved me the headache of calling for someone to fix my couch and saved me a ton of money. It was the switch that was bad. I had a hunch the motor was working as the chair would open. Just not close. This fit perfectly as a replacement on my Ashley Furniture recliner. Bought two more as a spare and back up.
