Pool Leak Detection Dye Kit for Inground Above Ground Pools Spa & Hot Tub

My video shows my first try using this fluorescent dye. My pool has a very slow leak from the spa into the pool. I'm convinced that the leak is through a grout line either below or between the single row of tiles that surround the top of the spa. The spa water drips through the stone wall separating it from the pool all night after the pump shuts off. The instructions on the dye bottle call for positioning the dispensing tip 1/2" from the suspected leak. Not knowing where the leak was, I held the tip maybe 6" above the water surface and dispensed a ribbon. The dye did not seem to disappear through a leak but I did see dye entering the pool below. I wasn't able to tell exactly where the leak was. This was obviously not the best way to dispense the dye. I'll try again by dispensing small quantities of dye near each vertical grout line, one at a time, until I can track down the leak. I have no doubt that I'll be able to locate my leak but it's small enough that it will take time. I like the ease with which I can see the dye in my pool and how it disperses slowly in calm water. As the description says, it does look fluorescent in daylight - like a yellow-green. The kit came with plenty of dye and two syringes with two different dispensing tips. I've been needing a syringe like this for years for precision dispensing of glue, but I couldn't find one. The bottom line: This is a nice leak detection kit at a good price.

This is a good product to have for pool or spa but it's a good product to have in case of leak and a piece of mind. I used this product for my pool and it works great to detect any leak or problem you might have in the future. This is a must have for any pool or spa you have.

This kit works extremely well. Using food coloring and a small syringe I’d spent hours and days trying to find where my pool was losing water. The food coloring would quickly dissipate and vanish against the dark blue patterned liner. Looking for a better option I found this. The neon yellow in this kit stays highly visible much longer. The two included syringes hold plenty of dye, eliminating the need for constant refills. The long blunt needles/applicators allow you to very precisely distribute and observe the dye. I was able to locate and confirm several tiny pinholes in the liner. I never would’ve found these with the 5ml plastic blunt-tip syringe I’d been using. The bottle cap’s design makes filling the syringe simple and mess-free. It anlso allows you to push the unused dye back into the container. I wish I would’ve known about this product from the beginning. It’s something, in my opinion, any pool owner should keep on hand.

It is very easy to see in the water. But not where the flow of the leak was. We were able to get the general area only because when we squirted the dye, the color came out of the leak on the other side, so we knew it was in that area and just ended up patching the whole area.

This product really works. We tried other ones to try to find a hole in our pool liner but as soon it touch the water it disappeared. This dye is a thicker solution and it stays longer in the area where you dispense it. It’s bright, easy to use, it has a good amount which can be saved for later times if needed. Worth what I paid.
