Axis Scientific Life Size Skeleton Model for Anatomy Study

We received our Axis Scientific Skeleton today and assembled it, and I have to say, we are extremely impressed. We are a Fire/EMS department that conducts our own continuing education and EMS training, and we have also placed an order for a life-sized torso manikin with removable organs. Both models are from Axis Scientific/Anatomy Warehouse, and I cannot adequately express how valuable these resources will be to our training program. There is certainly a place for PowerPoint presentations and anatomical illustrations when teaching human anatomy. However, there is an entirely different level of understanding that occurs when a student can physically interact with a model, touching structures, removing organs, examining underlying anatomy, and seeing the spatial relationships between organs and surrounding structures. That hands on experience provides students with a much stronger understanding of anatomy and physiology and creates an excellent foundation for discussing pathophysiology. Being able to visualize where an organ is located, what structures surround it, and how those structures relate to one another makes it much easier to understand why certain signs and symptoms present where they do, how those findings contribute to a differential diagnosis, and ultimately why a particular treatment modality may be indicated. For EMS education, this is invaluable. We can discuss anatomy and trauma in a much more meaningful way when students can actually see and manipulate the structures we are talking about rather than simply looking at an illustration on a screen. I have been involved in EMS for more than 35 years and have worked as a Paramedic for 30 of those years. I am also a current EMS Instructor part-time at a local community college and a retired Independent Duty Corpsman and Instructor with the United States Coast Guard, where I served for 22 years. Years ago, during my Corpsman training, we had the extraordinary privilege of working with two actual human cadavers, one male and one female. There is no substitute for the educational experience of working with real human anatomy, and those experiences have stayed with me throughout my career. Obviously, a small municipal Fire/EMS department is not going to have access to human cadavers for routine training, but these models are about as close to that educational experience as we can reasonably achieve in our environment. I am genuinely excited about incorporating these models into our EMS education program. They will allow us to move beyond simply showing anatomy and instead allow our students to experience it. I believe that distinction will make a significant difference in how our providers understand anatomy, pathophysiology, assessment, differential diagnosis, and ultimately patient care. Looks amazing, comes with numbers to learn the bones, sturdy, size is life size, assembly was easy except for a few pieces that needed to be put together a certain way. Value for the money spot on. Favorite item bought yet. Great for homeschooling and to have around.

Amazing skeleton model it’s massive. The head was a tad bit annoying to put on. I recommend balancing the skull and taking the top of the skull off so it’s easier to see where to put the pin. It’s very sturdy and heavy but the box isn’t that bad to carry. I love how detailed it is. I recommend this for people that’re still learning for A&P

This skeleton comes at a good price. For about 200 bucks (at the time of this writing) the buyer receives a fairly accurate skeleton that looks to be made of solid grade material. The stand is a bit flimsy but take care how you roll it around and it should be fine. Easy to assemble - it took all but 10-15 minutes from out-of-the-box to completion. As a student of anatomy and physiology having your own skeleton to observe and work with pays dividends during/after each and every use. Lab time at the university is great but it's much more convenient to have both lab materials and home materials to choose from. Some of the bone markings are difficult to discern. The majority are visible and with that the skeleton scores high. However, if your A & P instructors are sticklers for each and every boney depression, articulation, hole or prominence you'll need additional reference material to help identify. This is my only "gripe" about this product, but it is a small gripe and on the whole this skeleton is a good deal and has much to offer. Happy customer.

The quality of the skeleton is decent, and the anatomical accuracy is good, although some of the more detailed bony-landmarks are less well-defined than with better models. The problem lies with the stand, which is made of very cheap plastic. I was rolling mine on a carpet in my office and one of the legs snapped off. When I took a closer look, the plastic around the break was very brittle and broke easily.

Easy to put together, I only found it a bit tough to get the leg bolts through the small holes (they should be larger for an easy fit) otherwise just follow the directions

The Axis Scientific Full-Size Skeleton Model is a remarkable and versatile educational tool that has played dual roles in my life. So, whether I'm using it to advance my medical knowledge or to set a spine-tingling mood for Halloween, the this has proven its worth in multiple facets of my life. It's an investment that keeps on giving, both in education and in creating memorable moments of fun and fright.

I bought this model after a fellow art anatomy student at the Art Students League of NY recommended it. Mine came with a hole in the box and was missing some nuts and bolts. I tried to improvise. When I asked a question online to help me do that, the seller contacted me and offered to send the missing parts. Now in the past, when a purchase was missing something, the vendor told me I had to send back the whole thing. But these guys quickly and efficiently sent me exactly what I needed, plus a few extra screws. I'm impressed with the excellent service. I also love the skeleton. In art there are things that you cannot guess at. This guy is especially helpful for scapula, pelvis, skull, hands and feet. I can't speak to spinal column and nerves or other parts because I'm still learning. I'm really happy with him. Once I worked at a medical school where we spared no expense to buy a real skeleton. That one was delivered edentulous and stood less than five feet tall. The med instructor thought he might have come from Malaysia because of his stature. So, you can pay lots more and take your chances, or go with this guy for a fraction of the cost. I choose Axis and Anatomy Warehouse. Thanks, guys!

Almost perfect. One broken bone in the neck. Can be glued. Detail is amazing. Medic student delighted with it.

I had to buy a manual printer to print stickers and number the pieces

I bought this for using as a study tool, but it arrived with one of the vertebrae broken.

Amazingly well constructed replica of human skeleton. I was a bit disappointed that there was no factual information about bones with the package.
