I was doing some research on supplemental amino acids for horses. L-carnitine is one of those that evidence shows to have shown a difference in performance with consistent supplementation. I put my 15 year old barrel horse on this just to give her extra muscle support since she is starting to climb in age. I noticed a difference in her energy and power when in exercise. It wasn’t a huge difference, but just enough to make me think, wow is this real?? I haven’t been to a show in a while to really see if there would be a difference in her timing, but I will definitely continue with this supplementation. I unfortunately ran out but I’m willing to keep paying if it truly does work 👌

It mixes easily with grain and is well tolerated, even by our picky eaters. While it is on the pricier side and not in pellet form, the quality of the product makes it worthwhile. We appreciate that it delivers concentrated ingredients without unnecessary fillers.

I've seen really good improvement in my horse after starting this supplement. I could see how a more picky horse may not appreciate this supplement.

This is a good brand of Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL Powder. I've used Smartpak a few times over the years because of it's convenience. They normally put the doses of whatever the horse is on in a convenient daily pouch to be mixed in with the horse's rations. It's a great time saver, and almost a must if you're boarding your horses. This 1 lb pouch of Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL Powder is comparably priced to others on Amazon but when compared to my go to brand on Amazon, Bulk Supplements, it's costing twice what it has to. If you're ok with the price, then you'll have NO regrets with this brand - even though the convenience factor of having the supplements already dosed out in daily portions is gone. Keeping horses is not for the person with low funds, so if that's you and your horse needs Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL, look for the other brand on Amazon. There is a variety of sizes. The 1 lb is currently $36, and the 2 lb is $56, same as the 1 lb from Uckele Equine. I rated this product 4 stars, and the high price did NOT affect my rating, otherwise it would have been 2 stars.

We started our older gelding on this supplement a month ago and have noticed an improvement in his top line. As he has gotten older and his workload has decreased, we've noticed his overall condition to have slightly decreased. This supplement appears to be effective and we are now seeing him look more like his old self again.

This is one of about 10 SmartPak supplements we are currently using on our 4 horses. One is suffering from kissing spine among other issues and after losing much needed excess weight, we have him doing low activity over the winter. We added this supplement in, hoping to keep his muscle mass level during the next few months while he rehabilitates. Too soon to tell if it will make all the difference but hoping for the best outcome. We do prefer certain supplements in pellet form as it is less messy but this one does mix easily enough in the grain and our horse eats it willingly. Would order again, and especially from SmartPak.

Long time SmartPak customer. We were looking for a supplement to help our older thoroughbred maintain muscle definition over the winter when he gets less exercise. The goal is to help minimize the recovery time in the spring. Too early to report on results so will update later. This it quite expensive so we hoping for good results. Wish this was in pellet form though as powders are not the easiest to give to this picky eater. But at least in its pure powder form you're getting more actual Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL and can give smaller amounts as compared to something with fillers.
