I tested these against the Q Acoustic 5020s and the Dali Oberon 1s. The KEFs far surpassed both sets on soundstage and separation. The Q Acoustics were a very close second on tone, and were better than the KEFs on the high frequencies picking out tiny bells and percussion and bringing them to the forefront, but this was almost to a fault being a bit too bright for me. The KEFs are flatter with a fuller mid-range and thicker bass. Round up; the KEFs deliver a fantastic balanced, almost flat, even tone from highs to bass, and an impressively wide soundstage. They may not be the most exciting on first listen, but given a day or two you'll start hearing things you hadn't noticed before in music you've heard a hundred times. You'd have to spend a lot more to get significantly better.

I use this as the surround speaker for a 5.1 system where the front speakers are Kef R-series. The Q1 Meta sonically blends very well with the front R-series speakers. These Kef Q1 Meta speakers have the same excellent dispersion uniformity so that the sound is similar across the entire listening area. Although I'm sure the fidelity doesn't fully match the R-series, these speaker are more than sufficient as surround sound speakers to provide an immersive sound field. The finish of these speakers is more of a matte finish whereas R-series speakers are glossy. However, in white, the difference is not obvious at all in a typically lit room and the finishes look the same. The grille is obviously different, however. At regular price, these are very good. At a sale price, these are a fantastic bargain. EDIT: I had a chance to listen to these solo as a 2-channel system with a Denon AVR-X3800H and also with an outboard NAD C268 power amplifier. These Kef Q1 Meta speakers sound much better than I expected. Putting aside that these speakers are obviously not going to have as much bass as a floor-standing speaker, the mid-range and treble are surprisingly competitive with the bigger brothers. There were certainly some tonality differences with the Q1 having a slightly less pronounced treble, but for anyone using equalization or room correction, this is easily rectified. Meanwhile, the dispersion has the same uniformity that Kef is known for. What a bargain.

I got a pair of these on sale last year to add some stereo music capabilities to my office (not desktop). They're connected to my PC and Macbook each via optical to an S.M.S.L RAW MDA1, into an 3e Audio A5 stereo amp. I also added a small Kanto SUB8 sub into the setup to complement the bass output on the Q1s. For extra context, I run an additional system in our media room that uses KEF LS50 speakers (the originals) with a Kube 8 supporting them. Out of the box, these speakers sounded pretty weak, like an entire spectrum of bass was missing (that's when I added the sub). They otherwise sounded quick and clear, and the image was incredible (similar to what I was accustomed to with the LS50s). Fast-forward a year now, and I have to say I rarely turn on the subwoofer. The Q1s have opened up in the low-end, and they are enjoyable enough for low-key listening by themselves. Aesthetics-wise, they are a perfect match for the decor in their room and the grills stay on since I prefer that look.

音質は当然ですが、見た目もきれいでとても良いスピーカーです。 当初はBowers&Willkinsの705辺りを考えていましたが、設置スペース、価格などを考慮して こちらにしました。 Sonyのハイレゾアンプで駆動していますが、かなり大きな音を出しても問題なく再生してくれる ので、良いですね。 この前はBose、Fostexなどのより安価なものと、キット品で購入したバックロードホーンなどを 使用していましたが、音質面ではこちらがずっと良い音質になっています。

I bought a pair of these for my son at $399 a pair. Still a bit spendy at $399 but they sound decent at this price range. I’m an audiophile with high end equipment so these speakers seemed incredibly cheap and not at all durable to me - but I’m not the consumer for them. My son loves them and they were perfect for the application he is using them for - so I have to say at $399 they were a good value and exceeded his expectations. Definitely not “high end” speakers, though. They Shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition!
