Easy Install, Hole Template Included, Tinted!
I love this cat door and I am so glad I bought this one. I have an exterior wall in the garage that is 1/2 inch thick and this cat door works perfect. I just put the template on the wall, traced with a pencil, and cut the hole. No measuring needed. I did use a level to make sure the line was straight across the top before I made the cut though. I was not expecting the flap to be tinted, its almost like sunglasses or window tint would be. This was an extra plus for me as it is not possible to see in. The cat goes in and out freely but at night I just set it to "In only" so she can come in and stay in. + Excellent Price + Easy Install + Tinted! + Template + Hardware Included - Screws & Plugs + Super Quiet - Near Silent + Magnet Holds Flap Down + Two way, One Way, or Locked + Easy to Adjust Locks - Pinch and Slide + Clean Look + Cat Loves it and my dog cannot fit....perfect!! - There are no cons here _Bottom Line_ Yes, I would recommend this to a friend for sure. I would also buy another Cat Mate in the future if I need one. The price for the quality is just awesome. This is a durable little cat door that installs in minutes. Tip - Be sure to read the description and get the thicker (more expensive) one if the material/door you are installing this in is greater than 1/2". The back plate will not attach if the wall/door is thicker than 1/2 inch. Easy 5 Stars

Great for inside the thin panel of a door.
We have a wood panel door that goes from our kitchen to our garage where the litter box is located and it has been hard to find a pet door that would work in the panel section of the door. We have just lived with a hole in the door until I found this one. It was easy to install and fit together great (I've had other ones that get out of square and the flap won't swing freely) and it fit up against the door well so that air is no longer escaping into our garage. The only downside is that it took my cat almost 4 weeks to master the flap (she was used to jumping through the hole already) and I think it was mostly because the magnet is so strong. It definitely helps to ensure a great seal, but she had to learn to push really hard to get through. I called the manufacturer about temporarily removing the magnet for training purposes, and although the woman I spoke gave me a suggestion of something to try to pry it out, I never could make it work. As long as you don't have an incredibly skittish or shy cat, I think this door is perfect!

Awesome/Can get interesting...
We have 4 cats and decided they needed to learn to go in/out by themselves. This door was easy to install, once we managed to cut our way through the metal of the door. It’s secure and looks great from the outside. The inside is not as pretty looking. It would have been nice if the front piece and back piece extended further in to each other cover the gap (foam, insulation) that is now exposed from cutting into door. I included a pic for reference. It doesn’t look bad but would be nice if I didn’t see the inside of the door. This door has a pretty strong magnet and one has to nudge pretty good to get it to swing open. Now for the interesting part of this review. My cats are indoor/outdoor and are avid hunters. This door has been installed for almost 4 weeks and I honestly didn’t think it was being used. I was wrong. I’ve also come to realize that they apparently have been missing out on leaving me “gifts” from their hunting adventures. A few mornings ago I awoke to find some feathers, what looked to be a stomach and two bird legs neatly position on my bedroom floor. Somehow I slept through this meal. Then two nights ago, my cat, Butters, hopped on the bed. I realized then that he was using cat door because I knew I’d let him outside. Anyways, something seemed off when he jumped on the bed. I turned on the lamp and surprise! He had a mouse hanging out of his mouth! Standing on my bed! I did a little praising of his skills and tossed him out. Next morning he strolls in and we hear this crazy sound- he’s now brought a cicada in. Needless to say, this has been an adventure. Lol. Would I recommend the door? Yes. Just be aware that you might start getting “gifts”.

Very nice cat door.
This is a very well built pet door for a cat or small dog. It was easy to install. It actually comes with a template so you can cut a perfect hole. As many others have said, this door comes with screws that are only long enough for a door that is 1/2 inch thick or less, like a storm door. You could use it for any door, but you would have to buy longer screws. The door seals well when closed and it actually snaps into the closed position almost magically (I could not figure out how it does it, it does not have any springs). The door has two locks; one to prevent the door from opening inward and another to prevent the door from opening outward. When both lock are disengaged the door will open either way and when both are engaged, the door will not open at all. I found this two way locking system very useful. We live out in the country, so our cat wonders a lot, especially on days we want to take him to the vet. We just set the door to open inward only, and the next time he comes in for a drink, he can't get out. I recommend this product for anyone with a cat or small dog.

Great product, great price. [[ASIN:B001UKX484 Cat Mate 4 Way Locking Cat Flap, White]]
Just what I was looking for and at a great price. We take care of a colony in our area and had built a shed for them. At first I was just leaving the door open for them but it didn't take long for the racoons to find out there was food in there. That and a cold spell was due. I found these on Amazon and decided to give them a try. Not being much of a handyman, the first one took me about two hours to get right. (I cut the hole too small and not very straight.) Once I got my mistakes corrected and got some longer screws to fit the 3/4 inch plywood everything came together well. The second one went in just right and only took me about 15 minutes. One of the older cats figured it out pretty quick and the others followed shortly after. Now they are going in and out like they had been using it all their lives. Only thing is one of our more playful cats decided to lay in wait inside and jumped the next cat to use the flap. It was fun watching them play fight back and forth through the flap. I've been bragging about them to everyone I know and would recommend them to anyone. Even a clutts like me can get them installed with the enclosed pattern and instructions. All you need is a jigsaw and a screwdriver.

Great door for kitties
We installed this in our garage door. The install was very easy and straightforward. It works great for our skittish, somewhat ignorant cat. We have had our problem with a juvenile raccoon who kept getting into our garage and ransacking the place, all the while leaving excrement on everything. He has since disappeared, only to be replaced with our neighbors cat who attacks our cat, eats his food and hisses at us. The door does have a locking function so you can lock your kitty in (or out) at night, limiting unwanted guests. Currently, we are looking for an electronic door since our neighbors cat is such a menace.

Pet Door Works Great, Maybe TOO Great!
"Spot the Cat" is our Indoor/ Outdoor cat and master of his domain. We recently went on a week long vacation and there was no way anyone could be here often enough to let our monster in and out. So we decided a cat door was the perfect solution. As you can see in my photos, we installed it in a window in the kitchen. And since it is on the windy west side of the house, we built a box out the back with an opening on the side. This design really helps cut down on the wind pressure that might cause drafts. Once in stalled, we absolutely did not let Spot in or out of any other door, but pushed the flap a little and coaxed him out. When he wanted back in at the front door, we went outside and tenderly coaxed him to press his head to the flap and in he went! After just a few days of this he went in and out very well on his own. As I mentioned, with the door on the windy side of the house, there can be some pressure on the flap making it a bit more difficult for him to exit the house, but he has mastered it and it's fine. I think in our case, going the extra mile and building a small box outside the window with a side door helps a lot. This door can be set to only allow entrance, only allow exit, or swing in or out. The opening is edged in brushing that works very well to keep the door from freely blowing in the wind while allowing the cat to push and easily get in or out. Now for the downside. Since installing our Kitty Door, Spot the Cat, who apparently hunts for sport, as showered us with a variety of vermin, some alive, some dead, some in between. My husband and I have cornered and "neutralized" several mice, moles, and I think a small rat, in our house just in the last 2 months. If anyone has any ideas on how to stop the carnage, I'd be happy to hear it.

I used two, to form a passage through exterior wall
In the old house, we had a cat flap mounted in a piece of 1/2" plywood that sat in a basement window. When we moved this past September, the only viable set-up was to mount the flap though an exterior wall. I installed it myself, using the new flap on the inside wall, and the old one mounted to the cedar shingles on the exterior. It forms a two-door passageway for the cat. Installation was easier than I thought, once I got the alignment right. (By luck, the old brand of flap lined up perfectly with the new one.) It did not require any type of liner. I just toe-nailed in a piece of 1/2" plywood to serve as the floor. The fiberglass insulation is cut away on the sides and top to form the tunnel passage. Even on a 20-degree morning, there is no draft, and only a little bit of heat loss through the two flaps. Once she got over her initial fear, kitty has had no problem with this set-up. I am buying a second flap, because this morning our little darling virtually flew through the two flaps to chase our neighbor's fluffy calico across the yard and through a fence. We were impressed with the fighting spirit of our baby, who usually is kind of a wuss. However, her exit was so vigorous that the old cat flap mounted on the exterior side cracked at the hinge. It was a very cold morning, and I believe the 15-year old plastic just couldn't take the stress. I've just ordered a second Cat Mate flap to replace it.

Gatera excelente
Perfecta.

so it took some time but it works fine and my cat took about 10 days to learn ...
Works perfectly. A little difficult to install on doors in India considering the doors here are quite thick and bulky “mostly”, so it took some time but it works fine and my cat took about 10 days to learn to use it. In the beginning she was afraid to pass through it, as if she will land on a different planet like john carter if she passed through it but then slowly she realised it’s not what she thinks and now there’s nothing stopping her from going out to play with my dogs and may be catch a few rats for me, live ones and leave them in my bed, to crawl over me at night. But ya, I love it. So does she. She is a little fat fur ball, so this will work perfectly for big cats or small puppers.
