POUND HD Link Cable for Original Xbox

This HD link cable in my opinion is the best investment for original Xbox owners of Microsoft's first console. This HD link cable when connected to the original Xbox and plugged into the HDMI port of modern HD televisions will improve the picture quality of the games and can even allow for games to be played depending on resolution support in 480p, 720p, and even 1080i. Now, keep in mind that this is no upscaler. It is able to pass analog signals to the HDMI port of your HDTV and convert the signals to digital with no lag of any kind. It does enhance the picture quality for any game played on the original Xbox with the HD link cable and can improve and sharpen the image even for games at 480i to where the games look less blurry. When using this cable, on the main Xbox dashboard for the original Xbox with no game inserted into the disc drive, if you press both joysticks down and the right and left trigger buttons at the same time, you will switch between 480p or 480i depending on what resolution it is set on. This is a useful feature when using this cable on your HDTV to play original Xbox games on to play them at a higher resolution. When switching between 480p or 480i, check your HDTV to see which resolution you switched to. This cable is plug and play, with no additional external power source needed. There is a micro USB port on the unit, though to allow users to connect a micro USB cable to it to give it more power to the unit and improve the picture quality even further if wavelines do occur during gameplay. Now, it should be noted that not all HDTVs are compatible with this cable. Some HDTVs, as I have heard, are not capable of accepting analog signals at 480i or 480p through the HDMI ports and may need to be tested on some HDTVs to see if it works on them. For the HDTVs that do work with this Pound HD link cable for the original Xbox, this is a good investment for any original Xbox owners who still want to play their games and be able to connect to the HDMI inputs to play them as more and more HDTVs are manufactured without the older composite and component inputs and older as they are deemed obsolete by today's standards. I give this product a full five star rating. Highly recommended.

**I am a real customer and I have no ties to this company** I will go into more detail below on what equipment I used. I know some people were having issues. Besides does it work, the big question is does it improve the game image? YES!!! 480i will still be 480i, but it will look clearer. Teen Titans for Xbox looked ok at best with standard cords. With the HDMI converter it looked clearer and you could see more detail in the characters. The colors also had more pop. On the modded xbox Golden Axe for sega I saw a big jump in detail with the HDMI. I used this HDMI cord on my unmodded xbox. It's the 1.5 version. I know that because I had to remove my clock capacitor. I used it for about 6 hours and only had 1 small glitch. I go into detail below. I used it on 2017 4k LG LED tv and an older JVC 1080p led tv. NO issues with the picture. On the Modded Xbox when I first connected it after an hour when I paused the game the screen went black like it lost connection, but the tv screen saver didnt come on, so it was still connected. I disconnected the HDMI and shut the tv off plugged HDMI back in and turned tv on and it played fine for another 5 hours(no issue, just stopped playing) . That was the New 4K tv. Besides that one small glitch it has been flawless. I cant recommend this enough. It comes with everything you need. No power source needed. At some point I hope to buy another one so I dont need to switch it back and forth between my systems.

Works as designed with no issues. I used the power supply for my Firestick to power the adapter, as it does not come with one. I had used an XBOX to HDMI adapter from another manufacturer that did not have the external power option, and it was problematic. Not so with this one. Picture is clear, no blackouts, no loss of synch, no rainbows or wavy lines, etc. As such, I would recommend that you use the microUSB jack to give it a power boost, though I did not try it without. Some (if not all) games have a setting for brightness that you may wish to change, as they were originally designed for analog connections with analog TV's and may be too bright or too dark otherwise so adjust accordingly; this is not a fault of the adapter. The cable came in the green and black box shown in the product description. The game picture is significantly clearer using HDMI with greater sharpness, color, and contrast. It's easier to read smaller print in menus and title screens. The difference is similar to going from interlaced VHS to progressive scan DVD in the titles I've played. I originally played these games on a 27" CRT analog TV in standard definition. Now I'm playing them on a 43" LED digital UHD TV at 480p (maximum resolution on most games); the difference is well worth it to me. The included instructions explain how to set it up on an unmodded Original XBOX. This cable does work with a soft-modded XBOX, as that is what I am using. If using a soft-modded XBOX, you can enable the correct video settings in the soft-mod or load the Microsoft Dashboard and follow the included instructions. Easy to recommend this cable.

The cable does what it needs to do, allow you to use your standard composite video cable, and link it to your tv by way of an HDMI connection. I am definitely no A/V connoisseur, so take this as a review from the "everyman" A lot of the reviews here are super nitpicky, and while valid if you're an A/V person, for those of us who just want to play, I think this is the best bang for your buck adapter. My tv actually has a composite input still, so using that alone, my picture was really fuzzy, playable, but not pretty. Using the pound cable, my xbox allowed me to output 480p/720/1080i , flipped all those on. The handful of games I've played with the cable, look considerably better, no more fuzzy haze, things look sharp (as sharp as they should for a 20ish year old system) and it could be me, but i feel like I was exsperincing some input lag using the composite cable, which this appears to have solved. Yes, i do experience some minor screen artifacts, but even so, far better than before. Yes, the cable makes things dark, like real dark in some areas, fiddling with my tv brightness etc, and it's not a dealbreaker. It WAS a dealbreaker when attempting to hook the system up to my computer monitor, a nicer, new-ish, samsung curved screen, blacks are so dark, even with all the monitor settings brighter, that I could not reasonably play. All in all, for the price, this is a pretty excellent solution. As I see it your options in this day are: -throw away your xbox -play with a fuzzy washed out picture -hunt down an old CRT that takes up a bunch of space -spend $$$ on monster cables, or a fancier unit like this chimera cable I hear good things about, but its over double the cost of this one. -spend a little on this cable, deal with some darkness and minor screen artifacts, and enjoy Jet Set Radio Future.

For those of you who don't know there's a little USB port on the adapter to give it power, I almost returned but once I figured it out and hooked that up the adapter works perfectly without that part I was getting purple lines and poor image. Great adapter.

I previously used the composite hookups through a cheap ONN Walmart converter at first. The text was horribly blurry and the colors/images were so cloudy, it was like a fog was over everything that made edges blurred and colors dulled. Dark rooms were impossible to see in, I had to turn my TV brightness to max. The OG cable was extremely thick and clunky, this is so much neater and compact, 1/3 of the size. This worked immediately out of box, even before I followed the instructions to adjust my XBOX video settings, which I did do eventually. Now the title screen for Prince of Persia is so CRISP and the borders of the text are SOLID! Improved colors on the temple loading screen also, I can actually see details I didn't know were there before! The game is so much more playable as bars and footholds used to be so blurry they blended into everything - parkour was a nightmare guessing game. I can actually see where I'm going now, everything is much more defined. I'm going to go for the PS2 version of this cable now since I can't read any text on the signs in those games.

The picture is so dark it makes the games umplayable. Ive tried messing with settings on my tv to compensate, but its not anywhere near the original component cables. I am looking into other options.

The Xbox version of the POUND HD Link is not good. It's cheap, it's easy, and you shouldn't buy it. If you've got no other option, like if you can't track down component cables or if your TV doesn't have component inputs, it technically functions (sometimes). The docs that come with the HD Link say that the USB power input on the side of the device is optional. It's not. Without it, the image will be absurdly dark, grainy, and weak. It will cut out occasionally, or flicker, or the colors will drop out (leaving a black and white image) for a second. When power is supplied, the image brightens and becomes stable. Even when powered, however, the image is very dark. Color reproduction is poor, and there is a surprising lack of sharpness when compared to component output. Other reviewers have noted graphical glitches in some games; I never experienced any of these, though I only tried the HD Link on 3 games for about 30 minutes before giving up on it. Overall, a better option is to track down some component cables, run them into a component-to-HDMI box, and use that instead of the HD Link. The official component output box for the original Xbox can be hard to find, but if you're willing to spend fifty bucks or so you can find online sellers modifying Xbox 360 component cables. Those work great. Admittedly, this solution totals about double the HD Link's price, but if you can afford it, the image quality is greatly improved. Despite my gripes, I kept the cable and gave it 2/5 stars. It does work, and in a pinch the simplicity is nice (it helps that my TV has a USB port that can power it fully). However, there are significantly better options out there, and at least for me, I wanted to experience my Xbox games at the best quality possible. The HD Link certainly does not provide the best possible quality.

使用テレビはハイセンスのA6800です。 このケーブルで初代XBOX用は3本目です。 最初に買ったSRPJのケーブルは補助電源が付いていないのでまともに映らず。 ２番目に買ったLiNKFORは使えましたが最終的に720pや1080p出力になるだけでハード側の認識ではAVケーブル扱いです、画面も滲んだりジャギが目立ちはっきり言って汚いですアスペクト比も変えられません。 値段的に中間の本ケーブルですが出力解像度はゲームに依存します480pでも前述のなんちゃって1080p出力より遙かに綺麗です。 テレビ側で4：3に変更できるので正確なアスペクト比でゲームがしたい自分にはベストなケーブルでした。
