REDSHIFT ARCLIGHT PRO Flat Bicycle Pedals with LED Lights

They’re expensive, but they’re amazing, been doing night riders on my MTB in the holiday season lit up like a Christmas tree. Loads of people have asked where I got them from. They aren’t overly heavy either so I’m quite happy.Cool note that I was able to remove the clips therefore converting them to flat. Quite cool for when I’m on the e-bike!

This is an excellently engineered set of pedals. I like the flexibility, I’ve set mine up for flat shoes on one side and clip in on the other. I have an hour commute and both morning and evening rides are done in the darkness during winter months. Having had a close call at a roundabout decided that I needed to increase my side and front visibility. These lights are exceptional at this. When I wrote this review, there was another but it’s quite inaccurate. You can adjust the clip in, initially I made it too loose and able to adjust it so it’s easy to clip in and out quickly without too much effort. It comes with a 4 device USB charger, so you can charge them all at once. I have mine on flash mode and just charge them once a week. Could probably get away with longer. This is a great product for any who cycles in the dark

I love these pedals so much! Not only are the pedals themselves quality, I love being able to configure them any way I want to (pins and flat, or clipless). The lights are so bright, even in the daylight, that I feel like they really add to my visibility. I run them on blinking mode and go months between charges, even with daily commuting. When I see my reflection in windows, I can tell that my blinking pedals really stand out. The only slight negative: they’re not light and they’re not low-profile, so if that matters to you, keep that in mind. I run a pair on a commuter bike and a fat bike, so weight is less of a concern for me on those.

Excellent product that definitely works very well. Be warned, they're definitely a shin destroyer. But... you absolutely will not slip off them.

really awesome design, you can remove Spd from one side or both if you want, the only pain in the ass is that you have to install all the barbs by hand, which takes time...lots of time. Comes with a great charge to charge up all the lights at once. The lights intuitively turn off when you're not riding. Increases visibility in traffic.

They've thought about almost everything with these light-up bicycle pedals. For starters, they somehow know which way they are facing, so the light facing the front of the bike will always be white and the light facing the back of the bike will always be red. Then, the lights have three different modes, and when they are off the first button press turns on the steady light, the second button press switches to flash, the third button press switches to EcoFlash, and then pressing the button again after that switches to the steady light again. To turn each of the lights off, the button must be held down for a couple of seconds.Once you have the lights on the pedals and they are all turned on though, you don't have to touch them again until it's time to recharge them. This is because they automatically turn on and off. Just keep in mind that removing a light from the pedal automatically turns it off, and when it's put back in it will have to be turned on by pressing the button again. But anyway, when the lights are in the pedals and they are turned on, after 30 seconds without sensing any movement, the lights will turn off and enter STANDBY mode. Then, from standby mode, they'll turn back on when LIGHT movement is sensed. Beyond that, after not sensing movement for 150 seconds, the lights will enter SLEEP mode. Then, from sleep mode, they'll turn back on when HEAVIER movement is sensed. I don't know exactly what the difference IS between "light" and "heavier" movement, but once you start pedaling they should turn on no matter what.Just keep in mind that the lights will eventually turn themselves off completely after going into sleep mode and staying there for 24 hours. If that happens they will need to be turned back on by manually pressing their buttons. Also, removing a light from a pedal will turn it off completely, and it will have to be turned on manually when it's put back into the pedal.Here are some other main things to know about these pedals. The light modules take about 2 hours to charge. If something were to happen to the 4 in 1 charging hub that's included, the lights can still be charged individually by inserting them into any regular USB-A port. As for the light's running time on a full charge, they can last for about 36 hours alright, but that's only for the EcoFlash mode. They can last for about 11 hours on flash mode. And then for steady light mode, they only last for about 3 hours.On the rear of each of the clipless mechanisms, there is a tension adjuster that can be turned with a 3 mm hex wrench. Turning it in a clockwise direction increases tension, which gives it a MORE secure shoe/pedal connection, and makes it HARDER to engage and disengage. Turning it in a counter-clockwise direction decreases tension, which gives it a LESS secure shoe/pedal connection, and makes it EASIER to engage and disengage.There are many other things that I could touch on, but my review is already pretty long. And so, if you're looking for information that I didn't mention, you might want to look for and read the review by Doug M. It is quite thorough. Especially if weight is important to you. And if it is, I can at least tell you that it's possible to reduce the weight of these pedals by a good bit. Because you can remove the light modules, the parts on the front and back of the pedals that house the light modules (the wings/cages), AND you can also remove the clipless mechanism from one side of each of the pedals.

Even without the lights, these are very high-quality pedals. They're chunky, with perfect machining and very smooth bearings. They also appear to be rebuildable. It's clear that Redshift wanted to make good pedals that also light up, instead of just something gimmicky.I really love how modular they are, too. This set comes with the SPD brackets, but also includes enough pins to cover both sides of each pedal if you'd rather run them as flats. They're the type that screw in from the top with a special star-shaped wrench, M4x0.7 thread. I've been running them like this so far, as I don't yet have SPD shoes, and traction has been excellent. The platform is very large, rivalling a lot of MTB pedals.The side effect of this is weight. The pedal bodies themselves, with no SPD brackets, pins, or lights come in at 250g each per pedal. Add about 36g per SPD bracket, 7g for pins on one side, and 51g for both lights. That means you're looking at ~375g per pedal with both SPD brackets and both lights installed, or ~315g with pins and lights. Pretty heavy, but you don't really feel it when pedalling. On a heavy commuter bike kitted out with racks and lights, it probably doesn't make a difference anyway. I didn't weigh them without the 'wings' attached, as I don't plan to ever run them that way.As for the lights, they're very bright and definitely draw attention with your pedal strokes. Modes are solid, or two different speeds of flashing. It's very cool how they know what color they should be, based on which pedal they're in and which way is up. It's all done through magnets, which work well and hold the lights securely. My only complaint is they go to sleep after only thirty seconds, which is too short if you're waiting at a stop sign or traffic light. They do wake up instantly, though, but visibility while stopped is important. Shutting them off involves holding the power button, which can be tedious with four separate lights. Or, you can just slide them slightly out of the pedal until they shut off. They go into a deeper sleep after two and a half minutes, and fully shut off after 24 hours.Charging the lights is pretty easy. Each has a tongue on the end which fits a USB-A port. A Redshift-branded USB hub is included to charge all at once from a single port. While I wish these supported USB-C (could be doable with a different hub?), I can see why they'd go with A for ease of manufacture. My only real concern is that the leaf springs in the USB port will slowly wear away the lights' plastic casing.Installation is done with an 8mm hex wrench, there are no wrench flats on the spindle. No tools are included (aside from a wrench for the pins), which I prefer as I don't need more junk disposable hex wrenches clogging up my junk drawer. All of the other screws are various sizes of Torx.So, if you can deal with the weight, there's no real downsides, right? Well... at two hundred bucks they're priced very high. It's really tough to say if that's a good value or not. On one hand, there's nothing else on the market with this amount of modularity, or with such well-designed lighting, and they're very sturdy. A good set of MTB flats is going to run around $150 anyway, but will be much lighter. With these, you get the ability to run SPD shoes, plus you greatly enhance the nighttime visibility of your bike. The price still stings, but I don't think they're entirely overcharging. Keep in mind that Redshift does also sell these as flats without the SPD brackets for cheaper, and that's probably a better option unless you specifically want to run cleats. If you find yourself riding at night in busy areas frequently, want to have foot retention, and don't mind dropping the cash, I don't think there's much to complain about here.
