Excellent Kitchen Composter That’s Easy to Use
This countertop composter has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen. It’s incredibly easy to use and has made dealing with food scraps much more convenient. Instead of constantly throwing organic waste into the trash, I can process it right on the countertop with very little effort. One of the biggest surprises is how quiet it is. Even while running, the noise level is low enough that it isn’t disruptive, and the odor control works very well. I was concerned about smells, but the unit keeps everything contained, making it perfectly suitable for indoor use. The 4-liter capacity is a great size for everyday household use. It holds a surprising amount of food waste before needing to be emptied, and the finished material is greatly reduced in volume, making disposal or use in the garden much easier. I also appreciate the automatic cleaning function, which makes maintenance simple. The controls are intuitive, and the machine feels well built with a modern design that looks nice on the countertop rather than like an appliance that needs to be hidden away. Overall, this composter has made reducing kitchen waste much easier while keeping the kitchen clean and odor free. It’s convenient, quiet, easy to maintain, and performs exactly as advertised. If you’re looking for an indoor composting solution, this is an excellent choice and well worth the investment.

Great counter top composter.
I got this almost a year ago. I got the white one and it sits nicely on the kitchen counter, ready for food scraps. It's not loud and produces a nice compost after a few hours. It's easy to clean and looks good. I did have an issue in month 11 where it would turn twice then shut off. I followed the manufacturers trouble shooting directions but it seems the machine had failed. The company was quick to respond and sent me out a new replacement within 2 days.

Fantastic way to reduce kitchen waste and help the environment
OMG I LOVE THIS THING! I am a fanatic composter, and I am not allowed to compost here. And there is no municipal kitchen waste pick up. This machine fits easily on my table and within 12-18 hours converts all manner of biodegradable stuff into this lovely perfectly barely moist, crumbly substance. No smell whatsoever. I have only used the "ferment" option, and I don't even have my garden beds ready to receive compost. I'm just thrilled that I'm not throwing kitchen scraps away! Nothing is getting stinky in the trash before I can empty it. I suppose the $1000 versions of these inside composters are "better" in the output maybe? I dunno. My main goal is achieved--reduce waste. I don't know how accessible the nutrients will be...I have been putting the finished product in a 5 gallon bucket, awaiting the raised beds. It makes weird noises--like there's a ghost in the house-- but it's not loud. People who are some kind of weird purists are saying "It's not compost"--- idk what definition they are using, but it is compost. There is still "nutritional" value in the result; my red worms are thriving in it. (I moved the compost to a 35 gal garbage "can" until my beds are ready. The beds are going to be a modified hugelkultur-- large branches on the bottom, smaller branches, wood chips, chicken and goat manure filling in the spaces, then a layer of this compost and finally a planting mix of sifted soil w/ aged manure and compost for the top 10". And worms) You do have to be somewhat careful about what you add-- I have to add quite a bit of dry material like torn up paper towel and toilet paper rolls, used paper towels, etc, depending on how much moist kitchen waste went in. Fibrousy things have to be cut in small pieces-- like flower stems, celery, etc. Also, empty the bucket right away before the compost dries inside--I've had to chip away at organic material stuck under the arm. UPDATE: I've loved this composter for 8 months and the last time i emptied it, the blades fell off, including the gear mechanism. Looks maybe like the anchoring screw broke right off? Haven't heard a peep back from the company. I am changing my review to ONE STAR down from FIVE STARS because wtf? $300 and it doesn't last a year? I'm frankly grieving because I need to compost!!! And customer service is really paramount imo to get a good review. Don't sell stuff if you can't stand behind it. SECOND UPDATE!!! Changing my review to FIVE STARS again because I heard back from customer service after a few days, and since the product was still under warranty, they sent me another inner bucket! It just arrived last night and works perfectly. It came from China, so it took a while, but I was able to track the shipment. So THANK YOU for the customer service which totally came through!! I just hope this one doesn't fall apart in another 8 months?

The Perfect Composter!
Love this composter!! Performs exactly as designed, quiet and absolutely no smell. We are amazed at just how much it reduces the amount of garbage we have each week. No more smelly trash!! I found my first one used on marketplace. I loved it so much that when it quit (after much heavy use), I ordered another on Amazon. Looking forward to using the compost in my garden.

Impressive, durable product
So I received this composter today, and just so happened to have a bowl of food scraps (potatoe/carrot peels and egg shells) from last night's dinner. I threw them in on the crunch setting around 4:15 pm thinking I could save them to use for fermenting later. I sat down to fully read the owner's manual while drinking a cup of coffee. Finished the coffee, went to check on it, and to my surprise the scraps had already been reduced to a pulp like consistency. I realized I should have probably put in some dry stuff, so paused it/filled to brim with some dry leaves (loosely chopped) that had fallen off of my corn plant. I didn't get pics of the food scraps to mulch progression, but the video is from what it looked like at around 6 pm and the pics are from 7 and 8 pm (that's agent it switched off). I will say that it probably would have chopped a little better if I had made the leaf bits smaller b/c some of them were pretty tough, but all in all it did a good job working through them. So much so that there's not enough left to ferment. I'll have to try that process after I accumulate enough to make a batch. Also, it's incredibly quiet (all you hear is an occasional crunching sound, which did get louder after I put the leaf stems in). I've tried composting outdoors, and it takes forever. Not to mention the flies/other pests that it attracts. So far, I love this product and can foresee all kinds of uses for it. I will definitely be using the compost in my houseplants, garden and on the lawn.

Garden fertilizer source, high energy costs.
This is a great device for processing the large amounts of food waste most households will produce. We got it to replace our composting bin; the old composting bin smelled constantly and attracted flies in spite of the filter. The Ouaken device solved the flies and kitchen smell issue immediately. As a bonus, we get a constant supply of organic fertilizer for our home garden. The downsides in daily use: - High-energy costs. Running this device will increase your power bill. This may be hard to justify if you have no use for the processed compost and you have no cheap power source (e.g. solar panels). - Odor during processing. The device does a great job holding scraps without smells. When the device actually processes the scraps, it emits a smell that can be best described as "scrap crockpot", with a specific flavor depending on your home's recent eating patterns. We move the device to the garage before running the crush or ferment cycles... We had used the device constantly for about 8 months before the gear at the bottom of the removable bucket broke... Customer service was extremely helpful and sent us a replacement bucket. Do note also that, with repeated heavy use, the nonstick coating in the bucket will begin flake. This will make it harder to empty and clean the bucket.

Compost-tastic!
I have been very happy with this product. I use it about 3-4 times weekly. It can give off a slight smell depending on what you have in it. Its no louder than my dishwasher and fits perfectly on my counter. All in all I am very happy and would buy it again

Easy to use and works great
I have been using this composter for about four days now and so far I’m happy with it. It’s simple to use, runs quietly and has not produced any noticeable bad smell yet. It has made dealing with daily food scraps much easier and keeps my kitchen cleaner. The size is also perfect for my countertop. Good product 👍🏼

No mess, no smell and quiet!
I am a senior in an apartment condo. We do compost in our building, but I hated the mess! I had been wanting an electric composter for a while but found them pricy. This one was by far the least expensive but with the best reviews. I have used it five times since I got it. I collect compostable stuff in the bucket in the machine. The lid is tight so there are no smells. Someone complained about the power button coming on and beeping every time they lifted the lid to add things, but I unplug it between uses and don’t have that problem. Once it is full, I turn it on. It is very easy to use. Press power then choose “crush” or “ferment.” I don’t foresee using the ferment option often as it takes over 17 hours, but it does take the product closer to actual compost. Crush slowly pulverizes the contents and adds heat. In about four hours you have a dry, coffee ground consistency product. In fact, it has a very faint coffee smell because I compost our spent coffee grounds and filter. But otherwise there is no unpleasant smell, no dripping bags, no moldy and stinky rotting fruit. I keep it in a container to give away. My daughters have been sprinkling it on their gardens where it further composts and adds nutrients. I will do a cycle of ferment to see what is left and use it on my plants to give them a boost. Not everything works well. I left a cherry pit to see if it would mulch, but it came out the same. Grape stems came out identifiable and I would never put bones. But I can still collect those things for the Condo building’s compost. Most everything else works, but I do cut apple cores and bananas up a bit before adding. The machine takes up about the same room in your counter as a compost bucket or air fryer. It is attractive. The black one matched my black and stainless appliances well. I highly recommend it!

Amazing - this electric composter is worth every single penny
I don’t usually leave reviews, but this little machine genuinely deserves one. The Ouaken electric composter has completely changed how I deal with kitchen waste. It’s tidy, fast, and surprisingly quiet - I honestly can’t imagine going back to a regular food caddy now (which I also bought from Amazon). It reduces waste dramatically and turns it into dry, odour-free compost in just a few hours. I was sceptical at first, but it actually works exactly as described. Even onion peels and leftovers are gone by the next morning. The smell control is excellent – no weird odours at all (carbon filter system clearly does its job) Build quality is solid and it looks quite smart on the counter, not like some bulky bit of equipment you want to hide away. Our kitchen is relatively small/moderate size so it was quite important that it's not bulky. The bucket lifts out easily and can go straight in the dishwasher, which makes it very handy. I also like that it tells you when the filter needs changing. It’s quiet enough to run at night (you can barely hear it), and it doesn’t give off any heat or steam. I’ve noticed my kitchen bin hardly needs emptying anymore, which feels great from both a convenience and environmental point of view. To conclude, it does exactly what it promises, and does it brilliantly. Super easy to use, very clean, no smell, no fuss. If you cook regularly and care about reducing waste, this is a fantastic buy. Highly recommend it.

Ouaken Composter is Awesome
I have wanted an electric composter for a long time, so I did research, read customer reviews and consumer reports before settling on the Ouaken electric composter. While there are a lot of options and brands available, I chose this one because of the many positive reviews, consumer reports, good price and features other brands do not have. The 4 litre bucket size is the largest I could find within a reasonable price range. I can fit a ton of kitchen scraps into it and only have to run the composter once to clean them all up. This model also has a self cleaning feature that I did not see in any other brand. The glass top allows you to view the composting process as it happens. It's amazing how quickly a full bucket of food scraps turns into a small amount of grounds at the bottom of the bucket. The composter is easy to set up and the instruction manual informative. I would have appreciated more information on what items can and cannot be used in the composter. They do not have a website with this information, but you can email their customer service if you have a question about a specific item. They respond quickly and are helpful. I have used the composter several times on various types of food scraps and each time it took between 3 and 4 hours to process a full bucket. The compost is consistently dry, clean and finely ground. There is no offensive smell. The composter turns off automatically when the process is completed. It's best to let it cool down before opening the lid, as it gets quite hot. You also want to sit your composter where it has open space all around it, for safety, given how hot it gets. I followed the recommendation to add browns to my greens for a well balanced compost. I have been using finely shredded paper from my paper shredder and it works perfectly. I've also added used paper towels and napkins, which also worked well. The machine is extremely quiet, even at night when there is no other noise. I saw in the customer reviews that some people complained about the lid not fitting. I do not see how it can be an issue, as you just need to line up the arrow and turn the lid to open and close it. The lid fits securely and is easy to operate. I had also read some people experienced the composter jamming. If you do not put unreasonably large chunks of food in the composter, it will not jam. I have not experienced any jamming, even with a full bucket. I have avoided putting in large items like apple cores or corn cobs. I do not eat meat, so I did not try to process bones. The composter has a warranty, so don't forget to follow the instructions in the manual and register your warranty by emailing the company your Amazon order number. I do not have any concerns or complaints about the composter. It has exceeded my expectations. The only quirk I have found is that when you open the lid, the power comes on automatically. This is helpful if you are going to use the machine at the time, but if you are just putting some scraps in there for later, you have to manually turn the machine off. Not a big deal, just a quirk I noticed. Overall, I highly recommend the Ouaken electric composter with the 4 litre bucket. I wish I had gotten this sooner, when I was canning food from my garden. UPDATE: I experienced some technical difficulties with my composter, so I contacted the company for assistance. They were amazing. Initially they provided detailed instructions on how to overcome the issue, but when that did not work, they offered me a new composter, shipped immediately. I have had occasion to contact the company with other questions, and they always responded quickly and provided the information needed. Superior customer service consistently provided by Ouaken.
