I read about different supplements to see what would help me in my older age. I started taking this supplement to help with my sleep as it was mentioned along with magnesium. It has had a mild effect but I've not taken it long enough to see all the benefits. I've written below some of the things I found when researching this product. Calcium lactate also known as cheese lactate is a non-dairy additive as the 'lactate' is a calcium salt of lactic acid. If you are calcium deficient you can add this to your meals or drinks. It dissolves easily and has no taste. It can also be used as as a thickener and stabiliser and is found in many processed foods. Calcium lactate can cause some unwanted side effects like nausea, vomiting or constipation so building up the amount is advised. Calcium supplements can affect how you absorbed zinc, iron and magnesium so it's not advisable to take a calcium supplement at the same time as having these either in a meal or as supplements. Some find a calcium supplement decreased their blood pressure and helps with better sleep but there are many more documented benefits. However, everything in moderation or you may get worse side effects.

This is a 6oz/170g plastic container of calcium lactate powder. It seems to be good quality and is easy to mix and use. It is gluten-free and can be used as a an emulsifier, thickener and stabiliser. It comes in a good resealable container. I like it, but I think £7.99 is too pricey for only 6oz/170g. 🙃

An interesting nutritional addition to cooking a variety of foods. It obviously doesn't add anything in the way of taste or texture, but it brings the benefits of further calcium in the diet. As with other supplements, it is important to not go overboard and use too much or too often, but otherwise we all need calcium - so this is another way of introducing it in our diets
