Bresser Digital Night Vision Binocular

This is the third device I have bought to use for loading small pieces of (old-fashioned) cut film. My requirements are that it should be 1x magnification; that there should be a clear reasonably wide-angle viewing screen viewed by both eyes; that there should be a goggle type seal round the eyes, to avoid light from the viewing screen leaking into the darkroom; and, finally, a really effective head mounting, to leave both hands free. This device meets these requirements and more. For instance, magnification can be increased from 1x to a level sufficient for any detail you might want to see in this work. The only problem is that the infra-red illuminators emit visible light that is too strong for this work (invisible illuminators are more expensive and can be dangerous in use) even at the lowest setting, and they cannot be turned off completely without the machine being off. I have fixed this by taping a piece of fogged but unfixed film over each illuminator, and now at the lowest illumination setting I can see perfectly well (actually with improved contrast) and there is a great reduction in the visible red light. I have still to determine whether exposure to this reduced visible light could affect the Black and White films I use (I choose films with apparently no red sensitivity) for the short times I have to expose them. I have not tried this device in its more normal mode of use, but I can only say that it is streets ahead - in convenience, comfort, viewing angle, screen size and brightness, and illumination power- of a Monocular device which I had previously tried, for not much less money -and which had no provision for any headgear and no decent eyecup, and many other inconveniences. So, ignoring my particular hobby, I would say this would be an excellent choice for any work such as checking security round a property. Its uses are expanded because it can be supplied in different magnifications.

This does not use 'ambient light' and amplify it, so can be used in totally dark scenarios. I was beyond impressed by its ability to light up my 3/4 acre garden and has a zoom feature, as well as a brightness adjustment. The headset is a bit clunky but totally usable . For the price, it was well beyond my expectations! Highly recommend it.

Focus wasn’t great

Great binoculars. Adjustable brightness levels & very easy to use. Can't fault them. Value for money.

If you wear glasses you will be disappointed with this as it is difficult to have the unit strapped to you head whilst wearing spectacles. There is no adjustment for focus for the screen. However it works ok in the dark and the IR LEDs illuminate quite a distance. It is nothing like an image intensifier that has real optical components more like a low resolution electronic camera attached to a screen. It suited my purposes though but don't expect staggering image quality.

This isn’t the best of the best BUT it is damn good for the money! Couldn’t use with the head mount as it gave me motion sickness but it’s a decent entry to night vision for the money. I was pleasantly surprised.

Would rather have kept the money than get this, is very average. As others have mentioned it's light gathering not classic NV. I have a trail camera that has better night vision that was bought for £40 on Amazon. Head mount is quite good but I couldn't walk with it as it won't sit flush to face. I know it wasn't prohibitively expensive but disappointed with what I got for the price.

Very good very clear images and focuses well. I do recommend them.
