Fast ship, but more padding needed
Guitar is great and areived a day early. Seller didn't respond to inquiry about stringing for left-handed players but purchased anyway and restrung it. Plays nice. See photos for more info (had to edit my review in order to be allowed to post).

A really nice guitar!
This really is a great guitar. It has a solid spruce top. The plywood side and back really don't diminish the overall sound that much. I can't believe one can buy a guitar this good for the price. I can only speak for the guitar I received but fit and finish are excellent, the intonation was right on, the action was very good, no major problems with buzzes and rattles, and the tone resonant and pleasing. Switching the strings to Dadarrios new carbon strings really brought this thing alive. The neck width which is wider than an electric or steel string acoustic is standard for this type of guitar but would probably require normal adult hand width, I.e., not a child's hand. Yamaha also makes a 3/4 size and 1/2 size for younger people. I played the 3/4 size and it is just as nice. This is a real guitar, not a toy, or a beginner sounding compromise. In my opinion this sounds and plays just as good or better as any $500 classical guitar I have played. It is made in Indonesia, not Japan but Yamaha really must exert some great attention to quality control. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Perfect hybrid! And it’s made of wood! Love the sound
Love this guitar for the sound. Just the right balance of warmth and clarity. Was surprised to find that both sides are made of wood and not plywood in this price range. Another important reason that I picked this guitar was that it’s a “hybrid” it’s not really advertised as such, I kind of had to research about this till I found a video on YT from one of Yamaha’s presentations. There are basically 2 types of categories for nylon stringed guitars - Classical and Flamenco. I like the playability of Flamenco but the warmer tones of Classical. I play everything on this guitar because the string action is low (strings are close to the neck like on acoustic/electric guitars). Typical classical guitar action is too high for my style of playing and is generally more difficult to play (also their neck is thicker). I pretty much narrowed it down to two brands in similar configuration but the tone of Yamaha was more rich to my ears.

Great for beginners or players on an early intermediate level.
I moved to the states 2012 and that's when I bought this instrument. I sold the instrument after a year (since I moved back to Europe). This guitar is for people who want to buy a simple instrument for playing in their leisure time. I would recommend it to beginners or players on an early intermediate level. During my stay I recommended this instrument to a friend who wanted to start learning guitar. She really liked it and her instructor tested the instrument and confirmed that it was a great choice. Generally, buying a classical guitar can be very tricky since there are a lot of aspects to consider: Playability, the wood quality, the combination of woods, the mechanics, the neck type (spanish or german), the particular sound of the guitar, etc. If this sounds familiar to you and you feel these aspects are important to you, then this is not the right instrument for you. However, then you should not buy at amazon at all but visit specialized dealers (for instance: Guitar Salon International). For the price, the playability and the sound are really good. I read some of the reviews and thought I might add a few lines to my review: If you want to get world-class sound quality you probably need to spend more than 15000 US-Dollars. If you want to get truly great sound you pay 8000 US-Dollars and up. If you are looking for good sound you will have to pay more than 10 times of what you are paying for this guitar. We are at the absolute lowest of ranges of what you can pay for a decent instrument. In case you are looking for good sound, you should be willing to pay more. It is unfair if you are just willing to pay for a small sub-compact car and then complain that it is not a fancy sportscar like a McLaren. So, for the price this instrument is really ok. I think for a beginner it is a good strategy to buy this one. Play for maybe two to three years and when you realize you are getting somewhere with your skills (you naturally grow out of this guitar by then). Then, invest in an instrument with price 1500 US-D and up.

Best beginner guitar to learn on
You get great quality with all Yamaha guitars. They have great sound and are well made. The intro guitar is no different. Very high quality. As you progress, you'll outgrow it as the threads are beginner far apart. But it's a great first guitar.

I am a beginner when it comes to guitars, although I own a few of them. Considering the price point this is a great guitar. I replaced the strings and it certainly sounds well enough for me to enjoying playing it. Very easy to play, as it has good low action. The action is low enough for me that even as a beginner I am learning to play barred chords fairly quickly with no muting or buzzing. Guitar was shipped in a flimsy card board box, but much to my relief (and surprise) it did not sustain any physical damage. Guitar has great sustain, strings will ring for a long time. Only downside is lack of truss rod adjustment. Overall, this is a good purchase and I do recommend buying this guitar.

Great Sound and Comfort, but Some Drawbacks
I recently purchased this guitar and overall, I'm quite pleased with its performance. The sound quality is exceptional, and its lightweight design makes it easy to play for extended periods. Holding it is a breeze, contributing to an enjoyable playing experience. However, it's important to note a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, the absence of fret markers for 3-5-9 positions can be a bit inconvenient, especially for beginners. Additionally, while the overall string quality is decent, there's room for improvement as I've encountered some issues with their longevity. Despite these minor drawbacks, the guitar's positive attributes make it a solid choice for players who prioritize sound quality and comfort.
