Don't need maps or ECG? Don't need golf data? Buy this Garmin!
First off, apologies for some photos being a little blurry. I was battling my phones camera, but some are pretty good. Please know the display is extremely clear and crisp with vibrant colors and fun transitions from various screens. YouTube has plenty of reviews, but I paid my own money for all my Garmin watches. Tactix 7 Pro Solar, Epix Pro AMOLED, and this 50mm Instinct 3 AMOLED. I love those two others, but this Instinct 3 AMOLED called to me due to its cool factor and its build character harkining back to my former Ironman and G-Shock days, but with modern smartwatch luxuries. It just looks "cooler" to me than the smooth and sleek top tier models I also own. Additionally, I just love watches and collect a select few brands with mechanical movements among the majority. This Garmin Instinct AMOLED 50mm is extremely light weight. It's actually lighter than the heavy duty strap I show in these photos. Left in it's original offering, you may forget its on your wrist until it notifies you about your newest Amazon delivery.....maybe another watch....😁 I found I wanted the AMOLED screen for it's highly enjoyable bright and colorful display and I already have an MIP screen on my Tactix 7 Pro Solar. I was honest with my usage with maps and determined I basically never use them, so the lack of maps didn't matter to me, and again I already own other options. It does all the fitness tracking under the sun and has incident detection for many activities that most users would logically want to have. The LED flashlight in either mode is very usable and plenty bright. It seems to be, from memory, at least as good as my other two. It has the red/orange/green shift feature like other more expensive models and this feature is programmable for sunset and sleep timing for either color or a mix. The buttons feel quality and tactile with a felt click when interacting with them. It does not have a touch screen, but I like that. My other two do and I disable it on both. I don't use the touchscreen for anything but manipulating maps and as stated above, that's rare. This watch has no maps to move around the screen, so a touchscreen doesn't add value or cool factor for me, and the price reflects this. Any quick attach/detach 26mm watch band will fit this watch, to include any of the ones for my other two Garmins mentioned above The charger port is along the band attachment point in this model. This may seem inconsequential, but it isn't. This allows the port to be in open air in the gap from the bottom of the watch and the lugs where the band connects. This allows it to dry and not be subject to constant skin produced wetness and keeps the charging/data transfer contact from being against your skin. This results in less irritation for the wearer and longer service life of the plug port. I could go on and on, but my thumbs are getting annoyed with me typing on my phone. This is a great heavily featured Garmin for a price that seems to make sense to me. It could be your first and only Garmin for long time unless you are a watch fiend like me. If your looking to go Garmin but don't want to spend $600 plus, you need to consider this model. The solar model is likely as good with potentially endless battery life (claimed by Garmin), but it won't be as pleasant to interact with. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk!

He wears it every day — battery life is amazing!
My husband wears this watch all the time and absolutely loves it. One of the best things about it is the battery life—it lasts a long time and doesn’t need to be charged often, which is super convenient. It’s durable, looks great, and is perfect for everyday use or outdoor activities. Definitely a solid smartwatch if you want something reliable without constantly worrying about charging!

Incredible Watch!!
I bought the Instinct 3 as my first smartwatch, though I have used my wife's apple watch for weeks at a time in the past. I have used G-Shock watches for years before buying this one. I sprung for the AMOLED display after looking at a friend's solar version and I'm very glad I went with it. So far, it has proven to be very durable, even through various types of workouts, both in and out of the gym, as well as at work as a firefighter. It tracks a ton of useful metrics as far as health and training efficiency goes. I am currently using it to about 60% of what it is capable of and it has already made a big difference in my training and recovery. I also have loved the flashlight or "Torch" feature it has. Red light and 4 levels of brightness. WAY better than my wife's Apple watch. This is an actual flashlight! I also look forward to using the GPS and tracking functions when backpacking season hits again. I bought the 45mm, and for sizing reference I'm 6'1" and 200lbs. The 45mm seems to be about the same size as my G-Shocks. I think I could have gone up to the 50mm and been very comfortable but I'm happy with the screen size and since it's not a touch screen, I don't think there would be much advantage to a larger screen other than for the aesthetics of a larger, heavier watch on your wrist.

A Very Cool Fitness Watch!
This is my first Garmin watch, and I'm really impressed with it. It's really good looking with a huge "cool" factor. I got the 45mm amoled in the tropical style, which fits my 6 1/2-inch wrist perfectly. I appreciate the advanced GPS, though I wish there were maps on the watch itself. Otherwise, it does everything I want out of a smart watch. I use my phone to view a detailed map during navigation. The display is bright and colorful. The sleep and fitness apps are very accurate and easy to use. It knows when I've been sleeping and it knows when I'm awake. After wearing this watch I became a Garmin fanboy.

A great smart watch that handles whatever comes
If you need a tough watch that provides a lot of data then this is the watch for you. It is great for tracking most of your physical fitness and cardio related information. The Garmin community is very supportive and you have a wide selection of apps and functions that are easily accessible. The battery charge lasts for up to a month depending on how you use the watch, and it recharges very quickly.

Advertised as new and they sent me a used one
Garmin watches are great! One star review is about Amazon. I purchased this watch and it worked just fine. The reason I gave a one star review is because Amazon advertised this watch as NEW and they sent me a clearly used watch. The sticker that ALL new Garmin watches have on the screen was missing, the watch smelled like men’s cologne, there were clear marks of wear on the band, and the box was dirty and beat up. It was obvious the box had been opened and closed several times. Needless to say I returned the watch and bought it again somewheres else.

Haven't came off my wrist since I bought it.
The Garmin Instinct 3 (50mm) has been a great everyday watch. The screen is bright and easy to read, the battery lasts forever, and it feels tough enough to handle hikes, gym days, and everything in between. It doesn’t have full offline maps or music, but if you want a rugged watch with solid tracking and great battery life, this one is hard to beat.

Nice upgrade if you're active and need something sturdy
Wanted to wear this watch and see how well it worked for a while before I reviewed - its been 12 days. BATTERY: Coming off the forerunner 645 that was at the point of needing recharged once a week (if not sooner) and the gps draining the battery 80% on a day long hike, this is amazing. At first, it took half an hour to go from 1 to 2% and I thought I got a defective watch. Gave it another 5 minutes and it jumped to 64%. I stopped charging at bedtime at 84% that night (for a starting point). I did a half mile hike, ran twice, and hiked 11.5 miles. I have bluetooth hooked up so notifications come on my watch, too. In 12 days, I was down to 22%. I lost 20% on a 6 hour hike, which tracks with the "30 hours with gps". I could have gone two full weeks before charging. The charging is slightly slower than my old Forerunner, but went from 22% to 99% in just over an hour. SIZE: I have tiny wrists. I was worried the 45mm would be too big. Instead, it feels very nice and fits very well. I am incredibly pleased with how light it is and how I barely notice it. I also like the color the longer I wear it. APPS/FUNCTIONALITY: Holy cow does this have everything. Coming from another Garmin, it was easy to figure out. I LOVE that it has hiking as an activity now and that I can change each screen to match what I want information wise. In general, there is so much information in this watch that I barely need my phone any more aside from calling and texting. (I kid - but the weather has more than current, and includes future, dew point, uv index, past precipitation). You want to have 8 points of data on your main watch face? You have that option. You can personalize so many sections of this watch, so I have access to what I want to know in whatever order I want to know. And of course, the connection to Garmin Connect so you have easier access for trends. I love the morning report as well. The screen is beautiful and I have no issues as I keep it as dim as possible. I can see it in the dark without blinding me, and read everything perfectly in the sun. HEART MONITOR: I give this a 50/50. Sometimes, it is spot on. Sometimes, while resting, it has me at a rate of 15-20 bpm higher than my actual. During hiking and running, it stays pretty well on course. SLEEP MONITOR: If you're laying down browsing/reading, and it's your designated sleep schedule, the watch will think you're sleeping. That's a big downside. I've had it tell me I was in REM when I was actually awake for 30 minutes tossing and turning. MAPS: A pain point, as it's such a new model but lacking this for the price point. There is the breadcrumb/backtracking option on the GPS, but that is it. However, I also always have my phone and use Gaia while hiking, so this wasn't a deal breaker. GPS/TRACKING: As with my forerunner, the step tracking takes into account hand movements. If I'm knitting or talking animatedly, I might get additional steps. The worst of everything so far is the distance tracking. On one 2 mile run, it matched Gaia exactly. On the 11.5 mile hike, it had me going a distance of about .4 miles farther than Gaia. It happened randomly, where it had a difference of about .1 miles half way through, and the last few miles added an additional .3 miles on top of it. This makes me think the GPS function is based more on movement than actual GPS. I did have the lowest functioning GPS, so I will test on the next hike with top tier GPS and compare. All in all, I'm glad I upgraded. It seems much sturdier than the Forerunner with the raised edge, and I won't feel as bad banging it around, as I'm apt to do while climbing over deadfall and playing with the dog.

The Ultimate Outdoor Smartwatch!
The Garmin Instinct 3 has completely exceeded my expectations. The AMOLED display is vibrant and easy to read in any lighting condition, and the rugged design with a metal-reinforced bezel gives it a premium, durable feel that’s perfect for outdoor adventures. The built-in flashlight is surprisingly useful, especially during early morning runs or late-night hikes. Battery life is phenomenal—up to 18 days on a single charge is a game-changer for someone who’s always on the move. GPS tracking is fast and accurate, and the watch is packed with features for fitness, health, and navigation. Whether you're hiking, training, or just want a reliable smartwatch with a bold look, this is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!
