I have an August lock that is supposed to provide some "door ajar" alerts. It never does, and the sensor does not integrate well with HomeKit. Recently, I put down a door mat that catches on my door and leaves it open, and I've had a few times where I've left the house and left my door wide open because I'm used to it closing behind me. I already have a few Aqara sensors around my house for leak detection, and a door sensor on a deck door that is harder to close and can get left ajar accidentally, so I decided to get another sensor for my front door. This sensor is perfect! It was easy to setup and get connected to my existing Aqara hub, and it works very well with HomeKit. I get notifications every time the door is open or closed, and in addition, priority alerts when the door is left open past my timeout setting (two minutes). Installing it was also a breeze, and one of the sensor parts is small enough that it fits on my recessed doorframe with just enough distance between the sensors for it to be effective detecting opening and closing. My Zigbee hub is close by, so it does not need to communicate over a long distance, which should probably help with battery life - however, the sensor on my other door is on a second floor and it communicates perfectly, and I have only had to replace its battery twice. I continue to be pleased with the Aqara ecosystem!

The Aqara Door and Window Sensor Kit is a simple but highly effective smart home accessory. Setting it up was incredibly easy, especially if you're already using the Aqara Hub or a compatible smart home ecosystem like Apple HomeKit. Within minutes, I had these sensors installed and working perfectly. The sensors are small, discreet, and blend seamlessly with my doors and windows. They are very responsive—notifications are almost instant whenever a door or window is opened or closed. I also love how they integrate with other Aqara devices and automations. For example, I’ve set them up to turn on lights when a door is opened, and it works flawlessly. The battery life is excellent as well, and I appreciate the low-maintenance design. There's a lot to like about these little sensors, but a few things to note as well. First, I bought one of these to test before committing to putting them on all of my windows and doors. Worked great. I have now purchased several more sensors. I've seen recommendations that you don't pair your devices with the receiver until you have it near where the final install is located. It was explained that zigbee networks kind of self-sort and adjust power, channels, etc. based on the network signal. I have no idea if this is true, just passing it on. The Good: -- I connected these to Home Assistant via a Sonoff Zigbee USB receiver and ZHA integration. Home Assistant picked it up almost immediately upon putting it into pairing mode. -- The open/close signal is picked up within a fraction of a second. Very sensitive. -- There's a basic temperature sensor in the device that is reported back to HA. -- The devices report back LQI for your network. Kind of handy to know. -- However small you think these things are, you're wrong. They're smaller. I wouldn't call them non-descript, but they were significantly smaller than the devices they replaced. A quarter of the size. You can find the dimensions on the product page. The Less Than Ideal: -- Sometimes when I close my windows, the window "bounces" a little. Just enough for the sensor to "close" and then immediately "open" again even though the window is closed and properly seated. It's kind of annoying since the only way to see if this happened is to open the HA app and check the status. Maybe I should just pulse the lights in the room when it's been closed for 5 seconds. Anyways... -- There is only a small fraction of the information I would have preferred transmitted -- RSSI is not reported to HA. Not sure if this is a HA thing, Sonoff thing, ZHA thing, or Aqara thing. -- The temperature isn't very useful. It's the temperature of your door frame basically. I'm not entirely sure about the accuracy, but I have my doubts. The Ugly: -- The batteries that are shipped all show up as about 75% upon installation. Really annoying. But not a dealbreaker I suppose. The Undetermined: -- I've had these installed for 2-3 months. For the first month, several batteries went from "100%" to 77.5%. All have basically stayed at 77.5% for the entirety of the second and third months. Another went from "100%" to 55% in the first month. Another is at 65% after two months. There's no correlation between amount of use and battery life as of yet. My longest-lasting and first installed battery is also the battery with the highest amount of life left. --Update 10-28-2024: I have yet to replace the batteries in a single one of these. I have had three installed since May 2023, another three since July 2023, and couple of singles installed since. All are hovering between 50% and 70% battery remaining and have been flat since roughly November 2023. Bottom Line: I'd recommend them if you're looking for non-wifi, immediate signal, zigbee door/window sensors that are small. They tick just about every box you could need.

These devices where quite easy to set up, and work flawlessly in my Smartthings environment. I'm very comfortable setting up custom devices handlers and the one for this are well written. I absolutely love the size. I'm using these for window sensors and you barely even notice them - all other sensors I've seen or tried are enormous compared to these. The magnet is quite strong and I have not had a single false reading since using. Now the potential problem. The mfg quite clearly states you must use their hub and they are not compatible with any other hubs - this is a hint you need to consider before purchasing. Xioami / Aqara devices use a partial implementation of the Zigbee protocol and as long as you have no other Zigbee devices, capable of acting as a repeater in your network, things will work fine. I don't so these work brilliantly. The decision to make is whether or not you will be able to limit Zigbee devices in you smart home to battery only devices (battery only can not be a repeater). I have implemented Z-wave and Wi-Fi devices so this isn't a problem for me. I don't use any smart light bulbs, kr other Zigbee devices (I replaced all my switches instead), but with how technology changes it hard to say if this will be true long term. If you currently have Zigbee devices or plan to, skip these. If you don't have, and don't plan to, these things are cheap, powerful and arguably the best looking window sensors on the market and definitely worth considering.

Two weeks in, running through HomeKit via an Aqara G410 doorbell as the Zigbee hub, with zero missed notifications or failed automation triggers so far. Aqara doesn't sell a security system, so this is a pure contact sensor: it reports open or closed and notifies you on status change, based on whatever alert settings you configure. Ease of use: setup is simple with one exception. Don't pull the battery-isolating tab and try to pair right away. Pull it, wait about a minute, then start pairing on the hub. Skipping that wait is what caused mine to need a couple of extra attempts before the doorbell recognized them. Once past that, adding them to HomeKit and building automations around them was straightforward. Battery life: too early to say. Two weeks isn't enough runtime to speak to this honestly, so I'm leaving it out rather than guess. They're small enough to disappear on a door frame, and the adhesive holds well enough that repositioning one lifted a thin layer of paint. My apartment's frame has decades of paint on it, so that's more about the frame than the sensor, but the adhesive is genuinely strong. I'd previously used Ring's contact sensors as part of a full Ring security system. The difference is scope: Ring's sensors are one piece of a monitored alarm setup with a siren option. These Aqara sensors don't do any of that: no monitoring plan, no alarm, just the open or closed signal feeding into HomeKit. If you want a sensor to build your own automations around, this does that well. If you want an actual security system, this isn't one. Pros: -Compact, barely noticeable on the frame -Simple HomeKit pairing once you follow the wait-before-pairing step -Two weeks, no missed events or automation misfires -No extra hub cost if you already own an Aqara doorbell hub Cons: -Pairing can take multiple attempts if you skip the post-tab-removal wait -Adhesive is strong enough to lift paint on repositioning (as evidenced in one of my photos) -Zero security-system functionality: sensor only, no monitoring or siren Bottom line: A solid, low-profile contact sensor for anyone in the HomeKit or Aqara ecosystem who wants open/close alerts and plans to build their own automations. Not a replacement for a monitored security system like Ring's; different category of product entirely. Still open: got a photo to attach? And if you want to circle back and add a battery life note after a few more weeks of use, that's an easy edit to the posted review later.

Easily installed and has worked great since. It was easy to connect to my zigbee even with a broken arm

After spending a few hundred dollars on these door sensors along with water and humidity sensors after seeing the amazing battery life reviews, o picked up a ton of sensors at the prices no one else got near. I then tried to connect to my zigbee network and after minutes, the sensors stopped reporting and just locked up in home assistant zigbee. After getting some tips from other users with the same exact issues, I ended up installing zigbee2MQTT and migrated my entire zigbee network over to it just for the sensors. I mate'd all the sensors, and they seem to be working great. But then I noticed after anywhere from a week to a month, they stopped working locking up and not reporting. I would then rejoin them, and they would work fine again until a week or a month later. On all the home assistant forums, I worked with a bunch of other users playing around with settings and everything else. It turns out Aquara does not follow the zigbee standard. They have their own semi zigbee implementation. And it's probably what they do to save battery life, because the battery life you know the reviews that I saw is months if not years longer than all other brands. But the amount of trouble I've had with these I would gladly replace the batteries every month over dealing with this. And I am not going to attach the Aquara hub to my network, just to connect all the sensors. At this point I am cutting my losses and completely replacing all of the sensors with known good brands. I learned a lesson not to save a buck and just bite the bullet and get something that's known good. Hopefully this helps others. Because if I would have saw reviews like this I would have followed them and stayed off of this brand. I just wish they would fix this and either allow the end user to select to follow the correct zigbee protocol and deal with shorter battery life.

This door and window sensor has been a great addition to the Aqara smart lock system we recently installed. It works really well with the lock and helps ensure the door only locks at the appropriate times. Our previous lock setup didn’t have anything like this, so it would sometimes try to lock even when the door wasn’t fully closed, which was frustrating. I really appreciate the added convenience and smarter functionality this sensor provides. My only minor complaint is that I wish this feature was built directly into the lock itself instead of requiring a separate sensor unit. However, the cost was still reasonable for the extra convenience and peace of mind it adds. Overall, we’ve been very happy with how well it works together with our smart lock setup.

Acheté en octobre 2024 pour 44,79€, j'ai équipé mon logement de ces petits espions d'Aqara : porte-fenêtres, fenêtres ou porte d'entrée, tout y est passé. Autant vous dire que mon chez moi est maintenant plus surveillée que Fort Knox ! 😄 L'installation ? Un jeu d'enfant ! Les autocollants double face fournis font le job parfaitement. Si vos ouvrants sont assez épais, vous pouvez même poser le plus petit élément sur la tranche. La détection se fait de face ou à 90°, avec une distance max de 2 cm. Côté réactivité, ces petits bijoux sont plus rapides que l'éclair ⚡. Ouverture, fermeture, tout est détecté en un clin d'œil. Fiabilité 100%, pas de faux positifs ni de ratés. C'est du solide ! Maintenant, parlons autonomie. Les piles d'origine semblent s'épuiser assez rapidement, avec une baisse de 10 % en moins d'un mois. Bien que cela puisse être un problème avec les piles fournies, il est possible que d'autres modèles sur le marché offrent une meilleure autonomie. Pensez donc à prévoir des piles de qualité lors du prochain changement. Pour l'intégration, c'est un sans-faute. Je les ai branchés sur mon setup de pro : passerelle Zigbee 3 Sonoff, Raspberry Pi 3B, et Home Assistant. Ça fonctionne comme sur des roulettes ! Les possibilités d'automatisation sont infinies. Vous pouvez transformer votre maison en véritable assistant personnel : rappels d'ouverture de porte, coupure du chauffage quand une fenêtre est ouverte (adieu les factures astronomiques !), alertes si une porte ou fenêtre est ouverte quand vous partez... En conclusion, l'Aqara Détecteur d'Ouverture, c'est le Batman de vos fenêtres : efficace, discret, et toujours là quand il faut. Certes, il a un petit problème d'appétit côté piles, mais hey, même les superhéros ont besoin d'énergie ! Pour les amateurs de domotique ou ceux qui veulent simplement savoir si leur ado fugue la nuit, c'est un must-have.

Good connectivity and accuracy. It was easy and intuitive to add these to the Aqara hub and as secondary devices to HomeKit. The only issue I had was that two of them would not show as closed when installed on outer metal doors, and the adhesive strip did not allow repositioning. I added an extra layer of my own adhesive tape between the door and the sensors and they worked. The battery life has been great after a month.
