Best white noise machine we've ever had & we're not even using to full potential
HIGHLY RECOMMEND - My son is 6, he has always been a very light sleeper and we've been through MANY white noise machines over the years. I was actually very happy with our current one, however, he had an "ok to wake" clock as well as a star projector all on his nightstand and it was just too crowded. I paid about the same for our current white noise machine, so the price wasn't a big factor for me. PROS: -lights: color and brightness both fully customizable. -volume: many kids white noise machines aren't loud enough for us (we live on a very busy corner, lots of honking and fire station nearby) Not the case with this one, at max volume, its WAY too loud. -loops: as he's gotten older, my son has complained of being able to hear loops or patterns in the sounds (usually with varied sounds like rain or babbling brook). Neither the wind or TV sounds have discernable loops -quality: the sound quality and speaker are both great. We've had some that had flat/tinny sounds before. -ease of use: easy to download and connect to the app -programmability: this has been by FAR the greatest feature. I've set up 4 different auto on/off programs for SLEEP, WAKE, WEEKDAY, WEEKEND. Orange light w/sound =stay in bed and comes on at 7:30 pm Sun-Thurs and 8:00 pm Fri-Sat. Green light (with same sound and volume so as to not accidentally wake him up if he's slept in) = ok to get out of bed comes on at 7:00 am M-F and 7:30 am Sat-Sun. I have the green light & sounds turn off at 7:30 on school days and 8 am on weekends. CON: -the ONLY hiccup we've had was the very first morning after programming. I had to manually turn it on the night before (since I set it at 7:45 pm which was after the weekday "stay in bed" timer should have started) so the next morning it was still in "manual" mode and the green light never turned on. I noticed around 7:10 am when I heard him singing to himself, so I used the app to manually adjust the light color to green and heard him "ooh and ahh" in amazement. Since that first night, we haven't had any trouble with the timers. I've also turned on the toddler lock so he can't put it back into manual mode. BONUS: -less bedtime struggle: I'm no longer to the one enforcing bedtime - when the Hatch comes on, he knows it is time to go to bed and there's no arguing for or whining to the Hatch for "just 5 more minutes". We just got an Echo Dot and I saw there was an Alexa integration. I read up on the features and really wish this had been around when he was an infant. You can log diapers, sleep times, nursing times, pumping times and all kinds of other cool stuff. Even so, as our all in 1 night light, white noise, wake timer - this thing has been amazing!

Great night light and sound machine!
We have only been using this for a couple days now and so far it has been a great little machine! When I first found this, I wanted to get it for my son, especially since it has the OK to wake feature that we wanted to try to get him used to, but he wasn't interested in giving up his moon night light to his baby sister. When I put it in my daughter's room and set it to start playing music during our bed time routine, he was instantly curious and decided he would give up his moon night light after all. It will take some getting used to and playing around with the programs to make it work for us more consistently, but so far it seems to be working without a problem. The sounds are much richer than we are used to with our old sound machine and the light has nearly infinite choices in color. A bit of constructive criticism - My son is used to the night light turning off after a period of time, but his white noise machine is on all night. This has posed a slight problem with figuring out how to maintain this routine with the Hatch Baby night light. So far, I have only been able to make it work by setting two programs, one starting at the same time the other one ends. It actually works really well with the exception of the volume setting. It would be really helpful to have the volume (and brightness) slider give a number like a percentage as you move it along the bar to give an idea of where it is. Even hash marks on the bars would probably be helpful here too. It's been tough trying to keep the volume the same between the two programs, and even if I adjust the volume on the fly it would help to know where I put it so I could go back to that setting again, or adjust the next program to that same setting. Along the same lines, the other thing that might be nice is the ability to save colors, so if you choose a custom color, or two, being able to go back to that color for other programs would be a nice feature. And, pro tip - don't try to adjust the ring presets when you have it set up and running for your kid. As you adjust them, the light and sound actually change dynamically with your actions in the app. Whether this is good, bad or indifferent is probably going to vary by user but I thought I would mention it since my kid just got all freaked out as I was trying to tweak the ring settings in preparation for going into his room to remind him it was time for sleeping. (Pretty much backfired!)

By far and away the best sound machine/nightlight/sleep timer out there
By far and away the best sound machine/nightlight/sleep timer out there. Replaced a sound maker, a nightlight, a time-to-wake clock with one very fashionable unit. Key features/improvements: -Nightlight. It's adjustable. It's different colors. My kid can mess with changing it by touching the top ring without access to all the other settings. -Soundmaker. It's a symphonic masterpiece compared to other units. There's a wide variety of very nice sounds, not just one or two. And it doesn't revert to a creepy heartbeat sound if the power in my house goes out. -Phone control. Not wifi control, that scares me. But Bluetooth, so if you're going to hack it you need to be doing it from my house. It allows for control of all functions from the app. A very user-friendly app that puts far more engineered ones to shame (I'm talking to you, DirecTV). I no longer need to run off with the time-to-wake clock so my kid doesn't see how to access the back panel. I don't need to press 5000 buttons to change time or change time-to-wake. Kid wants it bright because he's scared? I can turn it back down from his door after he's asleep. Dinner party, so cranked the volume? Ditto. -It's (mildly) interactive, and that's been a lifesaver. Every other unit required a draconian "don't touch it!" policy, strictly enforced so the kid wouldn't change the time-to-wake to 2am, turn the volume up, etc. With the Hatch he can play with it a bit, change colors and sounds, but nothing that would be a problem. And again, it's completely customizable. I didn't love one of the default colors (white), so I just changed it to purple. My kids are too old for the nursery music sounds to be useful, so I disabled them. Now he's got 6 colors/sounds to choose from, all totally ok. When we bought the Hatch, our 5yo was in a budding scared-of-the-dark phase. We ended up with the door cracked open and 3 nightlights. He'd come out a few times and need to be reassured. We told him the hatch was especially for kids who were scared of the dark, and he could change it to whatever color made the scariness go away. It was just a spur-of-the-moment parent white lie, but to our amazement it's been a week and he hasn't come back out and while we can see the color change for 10 minutes or so after putting him to bed (meaning he's messing with it), it's basically cured the problem. YMMV, but we're ordering 2 more for our 2 other kids. At the worst, it's $20 more than any individual sound machine or time-to-wake light, $20 less than the combination, is a joy to program, and looks downright fancy to boot. Obviously, we like this product very much, but that's not really surprising given how superior it is both technologically and from a design perspective than any of the other units out there.

One of the best purchases for us and baby 💗
This really is an incredible product. I'm so happy that I came across this. I was going to order a sound machine/light that was either a third or half the cost, but after research, I decided to go w this one. First off the design is clean and beautiful. It can be used as a nightlight as well. The sounds are so crisp and soothing and realistic. The colors are beautiful. The sensor is insanely practical- along with the phone app to control. I've had this for 2 months. At first, I plugged it in and it didn't turn on. I thought it was broken and was pretty bummed. So I emailed the company explaining what was going on, and I received a reply almost immediately. Really- in the next hour maybe. Super soon.. so it turned out there's a small reset hole on the bottom or side I just had to poke it with a paper clip. I just moved my baby to her own room, but before that she was in a bassinet in our room. If she would wake in the middle of the night and cry, I would just change the static or rain sound to a lullaby FROM MY PHONE APP (Bluetooth) and she would by quiet and go back to sleep. I didn't have to get out of bed! I use this for my 7 month olds naptimes- I just tap the top and walk out of the room. I also set it for her to sleep at night without color and with the lullaby playing. I have my favorites preset- I loooove the colors and the rainbow option. They're constantly working to improve the product (I've received 2-3 emails either updating me on new software or them asking what they can do to improve.. it doesn't even need improvement but what they have changed/updated is amazing.. for example- a toddler option so toddlers can't change the settings or the sound scale so you can see how loud or how quiet the sound is. I can't say enough good things about this sound machine. And also, a phenomenal company. she and we both will get (and already get) a lot of use out of this, so the price really is a good investment.

I would like to start off by saying I very rarely give ...
I would like to start off by saying I very rarely give reviews; there needs to be something significantly flawed with a product, or something that exceedingly surpasses my expectations for me to take time out of my day to review a product. I have now had the Hatch Baby Rest Night Light for about 6 months. We started using it when we decided to sleep train our toddler. It works perfectly and is really easy to use and set-up. I really like the app; I was easily able to customize everything for when he sleeps, wakes, and his nap time. For his night light, I used a soft amber color and in the morning I have it switch to green when he should be waking up. I think he is just now starting to grasp the concept of the colors, but I can see it being a lot more helpful in the near future. I saw some reviews stating that the white noise was louder than they had wanted it to be, but I did not find that to be the case with me. You can easily control the volume of the sound and the brightness of the light with multiple colors. That being said, here is why this product gets 5 stars. 6 months after I had purchased the night light I received an email from the company with the subject line "Can we send you a new Hatch Baby Rest?" At first I thought it was junk but then I started reading and here is a little bit of the email I received: "When your Hatch Baby Rest app connects to Rest, it runs a quick diagnostics check to make sure everything is working correctly. When running this routine check on your Rest named "Hatch Rest", we were alerted to a problem with the sound on your device. You may not have even noticed it - but we'd like to send you a free replacement. It's so important to us that your family's sleep routine stays on track. Please enter your shipping information on the form below and we will send a replacement Rest ASAP." I clicked on a link which prompted me to fill out my shipping address and a few days later I received the new Hatch. I honestly did not believe it until the new one showed up at my door. I didn't even notice that there was a glitch with my old one. Obviously this company cares about their customers and the quality of their product which I find to be extremely rare. Thank you Hatch Baby, 5 stars is not enough!!!!!

Finally, my kids are sleeping!
This is my first ever Amazon review, but I loved this product so much that I felt I had to share my experience! I bought this out of sheer desperation simply for the “ok to wake” function. My 18 month old had been waking between 5 and 6am for over 6 months, and literally nothing I did helped him sleep any later. We already had a cheap white noise machine, so when I first heard of this product, I balked at the price, thinking I didn’t need it for the other features. I first purchased a cheaper “ok to wake” product, but found it difficult to operate, and poorly designed and made. I finally purchased the Hatch Rest, thinking if it didn’t work out, at least Amazon would let me return it. Now, I had serious doubts about my 18 month old’s ability to understand and abide by the “ok to wake” concept. But mom needs a little time to herself in the morning, so I was willing to give it a shot despite my reservations. The beauty of this product is the app and Bluetooth capability. I set the clock for 6am the first night and told my son that when the light turned green in the morning, he could get up for the day. For the record, my 18 month old can only say about 10 words... but he seems to comprehend a lot. The next morning, he woke at 5:30. I wasn’t about to let him cry for 30 long minutes, so I opened the app, changed the wake up time to 5:35, and then when the light turned on, went into his room and did a big dramatic wake up. I said, “look, your light is green, that means it’s time to wake up!” I then turned on the lights, threw open the curtains... made a big deal of it. Over the next few days, I gradually set the clock back little by little, and he started sleeping a little later each day. After a week, I was able to set the clock to 7:30 (my ideal wake up time for him). He woke the first few days a little earlier, and I would just tell him through the baby monitor talk function that his light wasn’t green, and I kid you not— he laid down and went back to sleep until the light came on. Now if he wakes a few minutes early, he just plays in his crib and waits for the light. I can’t believe that this worked, but it did. And now I feel like I have to spread the word! I actually loved this so much, that I bought a 2nd one for my 3 year old. He loves it. He plays in his room until his light comes on at 7:30, and also stays in his room to play or look at books during “quiet time” in the afternoon. He loves choosing a nightlight color and sound on the app every night. I truly cannot say enough positive things about this product... try it!

Program setting could use some work...
TLDR; I would buy it again, just REALLY wish it had batteries and future updates will include a toddler lock switch and a program end time. *crosses fingers* First of all, I love the quality of the sound machine (gets super loud and good variety of noises) and the ability to change color is fun. Being able to control it from my phone is FANTASTIC. Love that it’s Bluetooth. Two major downsides for me: there is no battery capability and toddler lock only works when it’s on a program. We are still working on training our little guy (2.5 yrs) to not touch the light (unplug it), because when he does, it turns off and my ability to control anything remotely is gone. Also, if the power goes out, he wakes up because his light and sound have just shut off. I have bought really cheap sound machines that have a battery option and this $60 one doesn’t? (I recognize the plus has batteries, but I’m not going to pay $30 just for a battery option especially when I don’t want a Wifi enabled machine.) Sometimes when it’s plugged back in, it forgets that it was in the middle of a set program which is the only way to enable a toddler lock. If I want the toddler lock enabled, I have to go into the program and reset the time to one minute from now so that in a few seconds, it will start the program and resume toddler lock. I don’t put him to bed at the exact same minute every day, so any time he goes to bed or nap, I’m resetting a program. Kind of defeats the purpose of a program, I know, but it’s the only way to get the toddler lock to work. Also keep in mind when setting a program, you can’t just set an “off time”. It only lets you set an amount of time. So if I start his program at 8pm, and I want it to go until 7:30am, I have to input 11.5 hours. Not 7:30am. Doesn’t seem like a big deal until you are resetting the program all the time (for reasons I just explained) and when you change the start time, the end time will flux as well. Why can’t I just want it off at 7:30am instead of 11.5 hours? AN EASY SOLUTION: create a toddler lock on/off switch on the app so I could simply turn on the machine whenever I was ready and lock it instead of having to set a new program every single time and wait until the next minute passed. And if he unplugged it, I didn’t have to worry about it resetting and me having to start the program over again. I feel like he is close to figuring it out and we have only been using it for about 2 weeks, but it could have been a much simpler and less frustrating process with these two features. One thing I did to try and get around a toddler lock is I turned off all the “Favorites” settings except for one which matches the setting on my program (white light + ocean). That way if the toddler lock is off and he touches it, it will switch to the favorite setting which is identical so nothing changes. He can still turn the volume up or down, but he hasn’t figured that out yet.

You’re missing out if you don’t have this
I regret not buying this sooner. My now 7 month old wouldn’t sleep through the night at all since she was born. I made the purchase out of desperation when she 5 months because I wanted a sound machine with more control beyond the typical limitations of other machines and the 30 minute timer. This product is high quality, I don’t know how they’ve done it but the speaker is of HD quality. It’s very clear and sounds like surround sound almost. It’s so easy to use, the lighting is soft yet vivid. The sound is soothing and realistic. The options to control the device is unmatched by any other product out there. You can set a timer, schedule multiple timers actually, or you can have it run all night with/without sound and/or with/without light. You can set it to any color you want, all this from your phone with Bluetooth. If not from your phone, you can touch the top of the speaker and use the controls in the bottom of the speaker. My only wish is that I can control it from my phone when I’m not near the device, eg at work. When my sitter is there she doesn’t know how to work it and doesn’t want to attempt to try. This speaker has helped my little one develop a night time routine that I wish we had sooner. Other sound machines just weren’t doing the trick. This is worth every penny, and I highly recommend this to any parent, first time second time whatever. This would make the perfect baby shower gift if you have no idea what to get. The only 2 updates I’d suggest to the makers is a function that allows the sound and light to slowly get dimmer instead of abruptly off, and have a charger option so that it can be used plugged in or via a rechargeable battery for on the go, or to take to grammas house.

Interesting Experience?
I had an interesting experience with this hatch speaker..I want to start off by saying that the product absolutely did show up as advertised, nothing was broken and everything was alright (this review is just about my unexpected experience). So I got this speaker for my baby sister when she was 15 and half months old, her sleep regressions were getting really bad which made it hard to deal with her fussing all the time because she didn't want to sleep or kept waking up (and we were tired and exhausted too). I read that this speaker was good for sleep regressions and sleep training, and saw it had good reviews, and I was feeling hopeful..But when I bought it, I got the most unexpected reaction from my sister.......she was scared of the speaker😂. She used it at first , cause I turned it on when she was sleeping, but after she woke up from her nap, everytime after we would bring her in to sleep her for the night, she would keep watching the speaker, and would wake up from her sleep, crying. Even in her sleep she knew when we switched from using the phone to the speaker. To be honest the first night was dreadful, she woke up crying not to long after we left the room, and after that we weren't even able to leave the room. She wouldn't let my mom put her down, cause she would keep waking up and crying. This led to us having to stop everything we were doing and just go to bed, which made my mom upset cause she's only able to do her business at night. My mom kept telling me to return it, but I was so set on getting my sis to get used to it (cause I thought it could help her), the next day, I would let her hold the speaker and let her push the buttons, show her how the music turns on from the phone (she's a fast learner). I would show and explain that this speaker and her fisher price speaker are the same but just looks different (her fisher price speaker plays out for like less than 30 minutes so you can see why I bought a different one). And She would look and observe, and she would even start playing with the speaker. I Also put the speaker in a place she can't see it when we were ready to sleep her.. but night fell (second night), we were able to leave the room to eat...after midnight though, she would keep waking up again and again after my mom kept trying to put her down, which led to her not actually falling asleep till after midnight. So my mom still didn't get to do her work. I felt began to feel guilty that I got something that made my baby sister feel scared and that prevented my mom from doing her work. It's not only night we used it, even during her day naps, she would wake up and look at where the speaker is , even if I hid it , she would look where it used to be. And Even wake up feeling scared / upset from her day naps. Ultimately, I just returned the speaker (kind of crazy how you have to pay for the return considering the price for the speaker itself🙄) and just went back to using YouTube lullaby and just pushed through the difficulty of her sleep regression, I made this review late due to being busy. But her sleep regressions definitely eased up from how bad they used to be. So if your baby is scared easily and all ready has trouble sleeping, maybe don't get the speaker?😅 I don't know my situation is pretty unique compared to the other reviews..but other than this crazy experience, the product is over all alright. My mom thought the product was very nice at first, and really liked the lights. The lights look good during the day, but aren't bright enough to be used as a night light, it still is very dark even at its brightest. It has a wide range of sounds with 3 lullabies,, I think one or two of the lullabies creeped my sister out (I think one of the more slower ones it was) there was one that sounded similar to her youtube lullaby, but she definitely noticed the difference when her yt lullaby was playing and the speaker.

I want to like it so much more than I do
We got this six months ago, and for six months I have been wishing that this was better in so many ways. It has such potential, but is so disappointing, especially considering the price (and we got ours on sale). The two features we cared about were the light and the noise, and both are disappointing. The noise is thin and tinny-sounding, no matter which one we choose. We also have a Rohm and even though it has just three white noise settings, each of them is better than the eight offered by the Hatch. The noises on the Hatch are not soothing or pleasant to listen to, for parents or for kids. The light is also frustrating. The degrees of difference of brightness between the full 100% setting, and the lowest 1% setting, are not that great. The fullest light is not bright enough to change a diaper by or read a book, but the dimmest setting is too bright to sleep by (especially if you want your baby or toddler to get used to sleeping in a fully dark room, as we do). Lastly, the app itself is glitchy. I made the mistake of updating it a month or so ago and since then it has been driving me nuts. There is a delay of 5-8 seconds between when you toggle the volume or brightness button, and when the device responds. About half the time the device doesn't respond at all and the button resets itself back to the prior setting. This is infuriating in the middle of the night when you have a crying child and are also fighting with the app on the phone trying to get it to respond. In short, I regret this purchase and wish I could return it. Its positives are few and have not outweighed the negatives.

Best sleep ive had in a long time
I wanna say the brightest setting of the light is not bright enough. I was looking for a little bit brighter end of the maximum brightness but this machine is not giving that. Yet this is the only minus in it. I am still giving it 5 stars because I got another machine much cheaper and well the light in it is not bright either but also not warm as this hatch has. The warms of the light is already a sleep mood setting. But then I played with the settings and chose the favorites when I got it and OMG I had to drink another cafinated tea to stay somewhat awake. I do have a 2 week old so being sleep deprived is not something out of the ordinary but the night before I got more help from husband so I was okay right up until I played with lights and sounds of this machine. I was so drowsy that not even melatonin was ever getting me this bad before. That night I had this machine on, I slept also super deep. I couldn't get out of bed until I turned of the machine and had some time without the sound. The wind is my absolute favorite sound there. The control through the phone is an amazing function compared to other machine I tried. The other one manual is clicking loud when you cycle through the sounds or colors... this is a silent one to operate. Worth the money. Sleep is amazing!

Helps baby sleep!
Drowns out some usual noise like doors opening/shutting or low level alarms for parents to get up to go to work. It’s actually helped my little associate sleep times and helps with the afternoon nap time. We actually bought a second one because she naps in her own room during the day, in a crib but sleeps in our room in a bedside basinet during the night.. and we figured once she’s fully in her room we’ll keep the one in our room going for us. We noticed we slept better ourselves with this going. Love the timer- have it set up so it’s on at her bedtime and off in the morning on its own. The one in her room I can just tap the top ring when I put her down for a nap and it remembers my last choice and will cycle through previous settings if I tap again. Love this product, we bring it with us if baby sleeps at grandparents house.

Confusing to work out the features...
Overall happy with this product but consider that it is on the expensive side it is pretty hard to figure out all the features. I've only had it for a few weeks so I'm still figuring it out but so far it's a bit confusing with setting up preset settings/ scheduled which automatically turn on, that part is great; however the trouble for me has been with the fact that you can override the preset settings manually if you touch the hatch rest itself and when that happens it overrides the preset and I can't figure out how to get back to the preset....Anyway I'm trying to resolve as it's pointless setting something that my child can just override with tapping the device. As well, when it is setup with preset settings, if you are not near the device you cannot make changes to it manually, at least as far as I can figure out, which is difficult if you have babysitter without the app and it gets turned off or many other circumstances where you may not have access to the app or your phone... So it's been a bit confusing to figure out, at least for me...
