Whats the difference between the rp-140sa and the r-41sa?

Can I use this for a 7.1 system for the rears directly behind the couch. The couch is only 2 feet from the wall. Thanks

In a similar seating situation, I used Bi-Polar speakers for my rear surrounds, a couple feet above ear level. I got the Fluance XLBP Bipolar speakers and love them.

My current A/V is 7.2, but tops out at DTS (no DTS.X or Atmos). Are these "backwards compatible"? re: still provides good surround experience?

Works very well as a surround. I can do Atmos so I have them as up-fire speakers until I finish my basement remodel. Then I will use them as rear surrounds, and then get in-ceiling speakers for true Atmos.

Do I need speaker wire for these?

Yes. These are not self powered speakers so the need to be connected by wire to your amplifier or A/V Receivers speaker terminals. The 100W designation refers to their power handling ability meaning they should be used with an Amp of 75-150 Watts per channel.
