A lovely book, a bit large and thin for smaller children to hold and turn pages
A lovely book. It's quite large but thin so can be fiddly if your child likes to hold it and turn the pages. The illustrations are very nice and the words are arranged nicely with words with emphasis being larger than the other. This book doesn't result in any dead piggies but does have quite a nasty end for the big bad wolf.

Unbelievable
Even classic children’s fairytales aren’t safe from being used for equality and diversity purposes when Miles Kelly is at the helm. I’m sure it helped you get your book in print Miles but is there any need to revamp an innocent children’s fairytale to show the clever female pig come to the rescue of the two stupid males pigs? This never had anything to do with the original story and I won’t be reading this drivel for a second time. It might be an idea to actually put some effort in and come up with your own idea for a story of this nature instead of tweaking a book that has already been written. I’m all for getting the message of equality and diversity across, just not when it’s done in a cheap and thoughtless manner such as this.

Bringing gender bashing to 3yearolds
I recently read this book to my son. It never occurred to me the pigs even had a gender they were always 1st, 2nd, 3rd pig. However the book had been politicised to make the 3rd pig a girl. So we go from gender-less tale of taking the time to make something sound too constantly gender referenced tale of two useless boys and the smug little girl pig that had to save them (as illustrated in every picture in case any 3yearold reader didn't understand). I'm sure it help's Miles Kelly get his book published but Is that really needed for a book aimed at 3yearolds?

Unnecessary changes to the story
The book is illustrated well and my son likes to read it with me. However I feel it unnecessarily gave gender to the litle pigs. It insinuated that the little girl pig was the clever one who build the house of bricks, as opposed to her two brothers. I'm all for gender equality, however I think this has got it wrong by being slightly derogatory of the boy pigs. I don't remember even considering the sex of the pigs as a child and I don't think it should come into now.
