Top quality guitar string cutter
A good guitar string cutter is essential for any guitarist to ensure that their strings are cut to the right length and don't effect their sound. This cutter is top quality - easy to use, very strong and robust and fits the hand comfortably too. Recommended for any guitar players.

Decent
these side cutters work well for cutting through guitar strings cleanly. They are quite big and chunky, and the plastic handles do keep the weight down, which does help if travelling with a guitar. They look good and are well made so will probably last a long time. in terms of functionality, I was hoping for something a little bit more bespoke, as these are pretty much just a pair of side cutters. If there were some way to protect the finish of the guitar when cutting the strings for example perhaps I would have given a high score, but maybe I'm asking too much? either way these are easy to use, and looked like they will last a long time. Maybe a little expensive considering they don't offer too much more than a standard pair of side cutters, but if the price is right for you this is a decent product.

Precision Tools for Effortless Restringing
I have found this D'Addario Tour Grade String Cutter to be an indispensable addition to any guitarist's maintenance kit. Unlike standard household pliers, these clippers are specifically engineered with high-quality heat-treated steel to snip through the thickest of bass strings and the finest of high-E strings with equal ease. The compact design allows you to get close to the tuning pegs for a clean, professional finish, which helps to prevent jagged string ends from catching on your gig bag or fingertips. The ergonomic handles are a thoughtful touch, providing a comfortable and non-slip grip that makes the repetitive task of restringing multiple instruments much less taxing. I noticed that the spring-loaded action is particularly smooth, ensuring the blades return to an open position automatically for a faster workflow. For those who frequently perform or maintain their own collection, this tool offers a level of durability and precision that far exceeds cheaper alternatives, making the routine chore of changing strings a much more efficient process

Decent compound cutters, plastic handles can flex a bit, otherwise fine for the intended task
These cutters from DโAddario arrived inside a lovely looking cardboard box with some images of the cutters and a basic description of them printed onto it. Theyโre secured inside with a cardboard insert which had no issues keeping them safe and sound in combination with the included blade guard. Right out of the box there arenโt any blemishes, defects or misalignment to be seen on my pair, theyโre a well-made pair of palm-sized cutters that can be easily slipped into a pocket, bag or toolbox. They do spring open fairly wide due to the compound action, but with the fairly small size theyโre still manageable enough for someone with average sized hands. I have to say, I was mostly intrigued by these because of the advertised compound action which is claimed to make it easier to trim through โeven the thickest stringsโ, which sounds great as I've been after a small pair of cutters that can get through thin music wire I use for random projects and applications. In a direct comparison to a pair of similarly sized side-cutters they do get through wire and guitar strings easier and with less grip strength, but the fact that the metal ends at the top of the handles does limit the amount of force you can apply as the plastic can (and does) flex. If youโre specifically keeping them to the intended guitar strings and arenโt pushing them on harder and thicker wire itโs unlikely to be an issue, but the fact that the handles arenโt reinforced is a strange choice, especially when theyโre heavily advertising that theyโre 7x stronger than standard cutters. My only other comment is that theyโre a bit expensive at ยฃ25 when compared to generic compound style wire cutters from tool companies. Though you are ultimately paying a bit of a premium for a fairly specialised pair of cutters from one of the largest guitar accessory brands in the world.

D'Addario Accessories Tour Grade Guitar String Cutter - Guitar Tools - Guitar String Clippers for
I ordered the DโAddario Tour Grade string cutters because are looking to restring our daughter's guitar at home, and using random pliers that either struggle with thicker strings or leave jagged ends everywhere was never looking like a fun scenario. First off, these feel properly well made. Theyโre compact, lightweight, and sit really nicely in the hand. The grip is decent, too, so they donโt feel like theyโre going to slip around when youโre trying to snip a string close to the machine heads, which makes them easy and safe to use. Cutting-wise, theyโre excellent. They go through guitar strings (and even chunky bass strings) really cleanly, with hardly any effort, and you donโt get that horrible frayed end you sometimes get with cheaper cutters. Itโs a really smooth, controlled cut, which just makes restringing quicker and less fiddly. I also like the size: theyโre small enough to live in a gig bag or guitar case without taking up space, and thereโs a little cap included to keep the blades closed. The only minor thing is that the cap doesnโt feel like itโll stay on forever, so I can see it getting lost at some point. But that's a minor point. Price-wise, they are definitely on the expensive side for what is basically a pair of cutters, but they do feel like something thatโll last years rather than needing replacing every few months. I believe you get what you pay for and, as far as quality goes, I would say these are worth every penny at ยฃ25.00 at the time of reviewing (especially when you factor in not having to pay to have your guitar restrung going forward). Overall, if you change strings regularly and want a tool that just works properly, these are great. Not the cheapest, but good value for money in the long run if you want something reliable and solid. Would definitely recommend.

Very overpriced for the quality
Quite cheap and tacky looking for the money, just buy a normal pair or wite cutters instead. They do the job but because they are so small you have to apply a lot of force. Bit of a rip off.

They work very well, but at a premium.
Supplied in a display box with the cutters and the obligatory card with D'addario Players Points (these are worth 425 points by the way, so don't forget to redeem them), these cutters have a hardened steel head, sturdy ridged plastic handles and a slip-on retainer cap to hold them together while not it use. The mechanism is a twin point lever design which D'Addario claim exerts 7 times more force than normal cutters. I can't vouch for that but they are VERY effective at making clean cuts in 0.130" bass strings with no fuss whatsoever. The cutting heads aren't actually cut flush, they overlap and are designed to add shear force to the cut. They aren't very sharp but they are very hard and show no wear after a few test snips on some dead strings. The retaining cap is black plastic and unfortunately doesn't hold on very well, so I can see this getting lost pretty quickly. A mechanical release clip built into the handle would have made more sense. Although plastic, the handles feel substantial and don't flex in use. So why only 3 stars? Well, for ยฃ25 at time of review I feel these are not exactly extortionate but certainly overpriced. The cutting mechanism works well, but a little more of an engineering solution to holding them together when not in use would not have gone amiss, maybe even a storage pouch/holster for the asking price. So one star deducted for price, another for the afterthought retaining solution.

Great performance
Superb quality string cutters. They allow you to cut excess string really accurately, right next to each winder. They're very straightforward to use and give you enough power even to get through the thicker wound strings with minimum exertion, which again helps with the accuracy. You can probably buy a basic, bog standard pair of wire cutters for less than this, but they're not specifically designed for the purpose of trimming guitar strings, so I think even though these are a little expensive at ยฃ25, they're absolutely worth it.

Work great with little effort.
They seem to work fine. Have used them to cut strings on five different guitars with little effort. The edges look to be holding up great.
