This self-cleaning Fumoi litter box WORKS!!!
We’ve been using the Fumoi Automatic Cat Litter Box for just over a month now. We are using one unit to service two adult (9 years old) Tabby sister cats. It replaced a pair of Omega Paw Roll’N Clean manual litter boxes. We are not using any kind of step in front of the box, and they don’t have any issues with box access. I waited a month to do this review because I’ve had too many experiences with smart or automated items that seem great on initial use, but then the problems started after a week or two of operation. After using the Fumoi litter box for a full month, I can report that we are very pleased with performance to date. There have been a couple of minor issues, but in total, we find the Fumoi unit to be more than capable of handling the toilet needs of our two cats. It looks better and cleaner than the two Omega Paw boxes, and mechanically, it works much better. I was constantly fighting the separating grate on the Omega Paw which would occasionally break free from the two retainers on the bottom of the box, which allowed the dirty litter to mix with and contaminate the “clean” recycled litter. At that point I could either try to salvage the box (a messy task), or start fresh, wasting litter and my time. The other issue with the Omega Paw was that it was a completely manual system. Until one of us got the chance to perform a cleaning, the cats were having to sit in an enclosed box with cat waste at their feet. And it didn’t take long for the odor from the boxes to be noticeable. The Fumoi unit performs a cleaning cycle after each usage. There is a 6 minute wait time before the cycle starts to allow the waste to solidify a bit before the cycle begins, which Fumoi claim helps keep the litter box cleaner. This wait time seems right for our two cats. Unless we happen to check the box in the time between the cat’s usage and the cleaning cycle, it’s great to pass by the box and see a nice even base of clean litter in the box and no noticeable odor! It took the two cats a few days to fully accept the new box. One was skittish around the box; it took her a while to get used the noise of the cleaning cycle. For the other cat, the cleaning noises raised her curiosity, and she’d stick her head into the box, triggering the infrared detector and temporarily pausing the cleaning cycle. These behaviors faded quickly. They started actively using the box on day one, and within a few days, they seemed completely acclimated to the new box. We’ve had a couple of very minor issues with the litter box, but they were never show stoppers, and minor frustrations until we learned how to work around them. First the collection tray. You line this collection tray with a plastic bag. Fumoi provided two small rolls of liner bags. They have drawstring ties on the top and are the same diameter as a conventional 13 gallon drawstring trash bag. They are not nearly as deep as a 13 gallon trash bag. You run the drawstring part around the four outside walls of the collection tray. You then make sure to push any access liner film into the interior of the tray. If you allow too much film to stay on the top edge of the tray, you will find it difficult to close the tray, and yo may cause the liner to tear, making waste removal difficult and requiring additional cleanup. Also, if you don’t push the collection tray completely in, you don’t engage a safety switch, and then the Fumoi generates an error message and stops working, as it thinks the collection tray is missing. You can use a 13 gallon drawstring trash bag as a liner if you don’t want to special purchase liner bags, but as they are at least twice as deep as the custom liners they provide, you have to be even more careful in installing the liner and sliding in the tray to prevent jams or bag tears. The other issue involved the first time I had to do a full cleaning. Disassembly and reassembly of the litter box is pretty straightforward. There is one part that Fumoi call the “litter tray” - it is a rectangular piece made from silicone and polymer fabric that sits in the bottom of the rotating drum when it sits in its waiting position. The litter sits on top of this flexible, drainable tray and there is an oblong slot in the drum underneath that allows liquid waste to enter the collection tray. You need to remove this flexible tray a couple times per month and give it a good cleaning with soap and water. Not a problem, but the user manual we received has no instructions on how to re-insert the tray into the drum when done cleaning it. It took me a couple of tries to figure it out. Until I figured this retention system out, the tray would fall out when the drum rotated to the cleaning position, and I usually ended up with a cleaning stoppage due to a sensor alarm, and I would find that the tray had come away from the drum. It takes a bit of patience and practice to install the tray so that it stays in place. The user manual does not do a great job of describing the tray removal and replacement procedures and/or the things to watch out for. The iOS Tuya application works well in regards to the needed basic functions. I can tell which cat is using the box at any cycle as it reports their body weights fairly accurately at 10.0 and 11.0 pounds respectively. I’d like for the app to use this weight discrepancy to “ID” which cat went to the bathroom for each recorded go. It may be capable of performing this logic already, but I haven’t figured how to do so yet. Other than exhibiting these minor correctable issues, the Fumoi has been performing flawlessly and has been a godsend! The cat box area looks and smells cleaner, and maintenance is so much simpler. Every 2 to 3 days I pull the collection tray out, zip up the old liner, toss it in the trash, and install a new liner. Every two weeks or so, I check the drum and sensors to make sure there are no dirty sensors or clumps stuck to the drum. If necessary, I’ll dump the remaining litter, and remove, clean and re-install the litter tray. Our cat box is much less odorous, looks neat, and requires less material, time and effort to achieve this improved litter box “presence”. We are delighted with this new tool!

Way Better Than Whisker, Affordable, Easy, and Worth It
I love this litter robot. For context, we originally had the $800 Litter Robot by Whisker, and I used to be a huge advocate for their brand despite the high price. That changed fast. They don’t honor anything past the 1‑year warranty, you can’t extend it after the initial purchase, customer service is terrible, and replacing a single part costs about half the price of the whole unit. On top of that, they’ve raised their prices to around $1100. It’s just not worth it. When ours broke, we needed a replacement. We bought this Fumoi robot on sale for $200 — and then bought a second one because of how well it worked. It’s extremely easy to clean, easy to set up, and easy to navigate. Assembly took less than five minutes, and connecting it to WiFi through the app took another five. The app itself is simple and not annoying at all. The weighing scale is slightly off, but it doesn’t affect anything important. I use Arm & Hammer clay litter, and odor control has been great. I hardly smell anything unless the waste bin is full. The unit is also very quiet’ quiet enough that I forget it’s even running. I have four cats. With one robot, I dump the litter bin every 5–7 days. With two robots, I go much longer, though I never let the bin get full so I’m not sure of the max. The size is perfect for my 6 lb and 10 lb cats. EDIT: I returned my second Fumoi only because my larger cats, estimated around 12- 17lb cats needed a larger entry hole. The app weighed my big girl at 17 lbs, so she’s definitely on the larger side. The unit is durable, has ultra‑strong non‑slip grip pads, and I barely get any litter tracking. After three months of heavy daily use, it’s still working great. For the price, performance, and ease of use, this robot is phenomenal.

Easy cleaning automatic litter box
This automatic litter box has been a major upgrade for my home. It’s quiet, and keeps the litter area much cleaner. Love the material the litter liner is made out of .All 4 of my cats adjusted to it quickly, and I love how easy it is to maintain . Love how it’s made and works exactly as expected. The litter box itself isn’t heavy at all and easy to put together. Definitely worth it for convenience and cleanliness!

Love this litter box!!!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly wish I had bought this self-cleaning litter box sooner. Setup was quick and easy, and within a day my cats were completely comfortable using it. The automatic cleaning feature works flawlessly and keeps the litter fresh all day without any odors lingering around the house. One of the biggest things I noticed was how much cleaner the area around the litter box stays. There’s less tracking, less mess, and I no longer dread scooping litter every day. The waste drawer is simple to empty, and the app notifications are actually really helpful for monitoring usage and maintenance. It’s also surprisingly quiet, which was important because the litter box is near our living room. My cats adjusted quickly, and I can tell they enjoy having a consistently clean space. If you have multiple cats or just want to save time and keep your home smelling fresh, this is absolutely worth the investment. Highly recommend!

Convenient, clean and quiet
Love the Fumoi litter box! It keeps the litter box area clean , smell free and is quiet. I love that it scoops after my cat uses it, keeping it clean and takes away the daily chore of me scooping a litter box daily. It is super easy to clean the bottom tray when it becomes full. Took a few days for my cat to get used to it but now he loves it! Get it, it will make your life easier and tidier!

Never going back to a regular litter box
So far, we are loving this litter box. We’ve had it for a couple months now, with three cats I was very hesitant. However, the cats do great with it, you can set a timer for after the litter box is used for it to start cleaning. This works great in my house because I have one cat who likes to stalk the moving of the litter dumping. It is motion censored, so if a cat chooses to enter while dumping, it does stop. All dirty litter is collected in a bag in the bottom of the box, which we dump once a week, no issue of odors. I’m giving it four stars only because occasionally there are times when litter is clumped up and stuck to the pan, and if we are not paying attention, it gets really bad where the pan has to be taken out and cleaned. Which I’m sure we should do anyway. It would be nice though if it could detect a weight difference in the litter and send us a notification, so we could run another clean cycle or scoop it ourselves. It does have a feature already weighing the cats themselves, even though the weight may be off from time to time ( hard to tell with three cats). Overall, the cat box is very durable itself, was very easy to assemble with the directions. It easily fits a large 10 pound cat with no trouble. My cats enjoy it, and I will never go back to a regular litter box.

pretty good compared to other cheap ones
Honestly didnt expect to like this thing as much as I do lol. Setup took me like 20 mins and my cat figured it out way faster than I thought. Biggest thing is the smell is basically gone now which was the main reason I bought it. I used to dread cleaning the litter box every day and now I barely think about it. Its not totally silent but way quieter than I expected. The app is kinda confusing at first but once you mess with it for a bit its fine. Also its bigger than I pictured so make sure you got space for it. Only thing is sometimes litter gets tracked outside a little but thats prob more my cat than the machine. Overall worth the money for sure especially if ur lazy like me or gone during the day a lot.

Best litter box!
I love this automatic litter box! I actually purchased a second one after buying my first because I liked it so much! The size is really nice regardless of weather you have a small or large cat, you can set it up to dump automatically or manually depending on your preference. I love the app and that I can control it from my phone if I need to run an extra clean cycle! And the ease of pulling out a drawer Instead of having to lift and dump a heavy box has been amazing! My cats love it because their litter is always clean! I also like that it's not fully enclosed so less worry about my cat getting stuck in it during a cleaning cycle and the sensor are very quick to stop it if it does detect my cat.
