A Very practical pocket watch at a good price
A well made pocket watch with a history of good watches. I like that I can position it so I can keep track of my time when giving a lecture or other timed activities in the office, etc. These watches are built to last.

Excellent choice for avoiding the wristwatch
This watch works well, and keeps good time. The hands are easy to read at a glance, with nice contrast between the light hands and dark face. It's also in the correct orientation, meaning that if it's hung by the carabiner from your backpack strap, or your belt loop, and you flip the face up to look at it, you're viewing it normally. Some others are upside down, and only work for others to look at your watch while it's hanging there, which is useless for the owner. The water resistance is nice, because I can leave it on the backpack strap if it rains and not care if it gets a little wet. That also lets me rinse it off after a campout for easy cleaning. The luminous hands glow well. Even at night, 30 seconds with the flashlight, and I can still just make out the time in a dark tent hours later if it's pitch black, and I take a close look when my eyes are already adjusted. Nice to use in the summer heat, or when you're constantly adding bug repellent or sun block to your arms in the summer anyway and don't want to spray your watch crystal or move your wristwatch back and forth to your pocket every time. I'm not sure if it would work well in the winter to avoid having to dig under your gloves, because batteries and watches don't like to be left out unheated and cooled far below freezing and still keep accurate time, but you might clip it under your coat or somewhere it can get some warmth. I've only used mine above freezing so far. Case and movement are pretty tight. The whole thing is nice and solid, no slop, no rattling, no hand movement if shaken, etc. Great value for the price, and cheap enough you won't really worry about in case it ever got some accidental damage.

Functional and durable
I got this watch in 2019 to use for ski patrol (need a second hand for taking patient vitals) and backpacking. I think I replaced the battery once or maybe twice during that time. The watch worked great until last week when it got smashed between my pack and my shovel resulting in the glass face getting smashed. FYI it still works but is very difficult to read. I gave it 4 stars only because the carabiner that comes with it is kind of weak and I replaced it with something better after the first use. I will be purchasing another of the same watch to replace this one.

Great product
So far I've tried this product at -4F and it tells me the accurate time. This product is my third brand in past two years, and I can recommend this over the others.

Has kept perfect time in the year and a half since I ...
Outstanding features of this watch: * Has kept perfect time in the year and a half since I bought it * Doesn't need recharging all the time like a cell phone; it's been running off the original batteries for a year and a half * Works where there's no cell phone service (yes, those places still exist and I visit them frequently) * Great for those like myself who dislike wearing a wristwatch, but who still need to keep track of the time; it's more like a small, portable clock * Clips onto belt loop, backpack, messenger bag, cross-body bag, purse, etc. * Easy to clip and unclip, but quite secure; I have never had it unclip itselt accidentally * Doesn't give you a tan line on your wrist * Water-resistant; I haven't personally tested to 100 feet, but it has gotten a lot of real-life testing in the rainy climate where I live * Nice unisex design; doesn't scream "man's watch" when I use it, but looks totally appropriate for a man's watch when my husband borrows it (he won't wear a wristwatch, either) * Has second hand, so can be used for checking heart rate (pulse) for fitness or medical reasons * It's analog, not digital, so it's old-school cool! * Numerals glow in the dark after brief exposure to light; saves battery life over a back-lit style. * Large, easy to read numerals * All the numerals 1-12 (none of this 12, 3, 6, 9, then figure out the rest). * Outer ring with markings for all 60 minutes/seconds * Outer ring numbered by fives from 05 to 55, which makes keeping track of minutes and seconds easier * Good watch for teaching children to tell analog time because of the four features listed directly above * Because it is analog, you can amaze and astound your friends by using the hour hand on this watch to find true north (numerous websites have instructions on how to do this); can't do that with a digital watch I was a little hesitant to order this watch because of the number of one star reviews, but now I'm glad I took a chance with this product. This watch has worked out well for me. I use it mostly in town for everyday use, but I also use it in the back country when camping or backpacking, and it has been rugged enough to stand up to that kind of use.

Works great. "You get what you pay for"
Tried several similar watches that had belt clips. 2 of the 3 I bought broke within a month or two for some reason. The 3rd is still working now, but is hard to read because of the contrast of the hands and the dial. Decided to just spend the extra money and get a good, brand name watch. It came in a nice box and was packaged good. Has a 5 year warrantee. It is very easy to read, is well built and looks great. I think I made the right decision. That last Dakota watch I had (a similar one) lasted over 5 years before it stopped working. If I can get 5 years out of this one, I'll be happy! Would recommend this.

No warranty?
I have been using Dakota watches for ten years. This was the first one I bought and after a little while the strap fell off because the pin got bent. I figured it was my fault so I bought a mini clip watch that was all one piece. That one lasted a while so when it got wore out I bought a new one. The new one just FELL APART on me and I have not been rough with it. It was in great condition. Apparently I got lucky with the second watch. I contacted the company and they don't offer any warranty for the actual watch (only internal movement) and said I could pay them to fix the watch. So I will NEVER buy a Dakota watch again.

does not run consistently
i bought this in jan 2024. ran good for awhile and kept pretty accurate time. then once in awhile it would stop running. then as i would adjust the time it would run again. 2 weeks ago it stopped running and i could not get it to go again so i tried to take back plate off to change the battery. i could not get it off so i just tossed it on a table and a few days later i noticed it was running again. i reset time and it ran for a couple of days and stopped so i tossed it on a desk and it ran again for awhile and stopped. i picked it up today and shook it and tapped against my hand rather hard and it started to run again, but you cannot rely on it
