Simplicity Sewing Pattern 3935 Miss/Men/Child Sleepwear, A (XS-L/XS-XL)

This pattern is multi sized and I’m looking forward to being able to make lots of pajamas for my family members with just this one pattern. I will have to trace separately the pattern for each size, but I love the fact that it’s got slippers as well.

I only made the pants so far. The pattern was easy to make. However the pattern sizes in the adult include men's. They also had the children sizes in the same packet as well. You will need to measure your inseam when cutting these out. I had a lot of left over material because I was not considering the Large was men's length as well.

Although this pattern has an uncommon variety of sizes included in it there are some errors in it. I used it to make pajama bottoms for my adult daughter, size medium. This pattern's instructions are a far cry from the old simplicity patterns and not in a good way. Pajama bottoms are one of the easiest things to make and the instructions direct the sewing of the pieces together in the most awkward manner. The pattern has an 1.5" allowance for a casing. The instructions tell you to make an inch casing then use half inch elastic in it. It should be a 1.25" casing with 1/4" raw edge turned under, and 1" elastic. The alignment diamonds on the pattern are missing on most of the pattern pieces. There was only one on the front pant leg and none on the back. The fit was off at the waist. I had to cut the waist down by 3" to get the casing to fall on my daughter's waist (she's very long waisted too) and not in the middle of her abdomen. If you know how to sew and just need the pattern pieces, then you'll be ok with this pattern. If you are novice at sewing or have never sewn don't buy this pattern because you'll have a difficult time with it and it may turn you off from garment making. FYI I am a very experienced seamstress having made men's and women's garments of all sorts for over 50 years.

Made pajama bottoms for kids

This pattern runs a little large as most do, but it is still a good product. The multiple sizes means I could use this for my co-op classes. I just divided it up according to who needed what size.

Pattern was easy to make, directions were clear. I tried it out with an old blue sheet before using more expensive fabric. Pictures show the end result - since Halloween is coming, I turned it into a surgeon costume. The pattern sizes are from small child to large adult; child sizes are separate from the teen/adult size pieces which is good.

I purchased this pattern to make PJs for my grandchildren - it is very easy to use, although the directions for the neck band on the top are a little confusing. It took me about 15 minutes of laying out the pieces and reading the directions to figure out how it went the first time.

Very good patter for making gifts!

Multiple sizes in one package is great. Easy to sew. Directions easy to follow.
