Jebao MDP Smart DC Pump with LCD Display Controller for Salt Water Tank (MDP-20000)

A very powerful water pump works good. Holding up so far, you probably could have went with a smaller size

I purchased 2 Jebao 20000 DC pumps for my new 320 Gallon Reef System. I did not get the aquarium up and running until Feb 18th. The pump ran fine for a couple of weeks and then it started showing errors on digital read out. I swapped out power controller from back up pump with same results. I swapped out defective pump with the back up and is working fine so far. I sent an E mail to Jebao over a month ago with no response. I can't seem to find a warranty time frame on any website. If the backup goes out I will have to scramble and buy something else.

More gph than my Varios 10, which is a $1000 pump, however, I have purchased 2 and neither one came with a 2” PVC adaptor. It came with a 1.25” and a 1.5” PVC adaptor. A 2” pipe doesn’t even fit through the purple plastic nut that holds the pvc female union

I've bought 3, 20000 and two broke on the clear housing. Motors seem fine but I'm either unlucky or there is flaw in construction of clear housing.

I was surprised by how good it is for the money. The build quality is acceptable. The volute is made from a mid quality clear plastic that is not as durable as the higher quality plastic used by The higher end units. The plastic impeller shaft also will be a problem long term. Given the price difference I could by three or five of these for the price of the competitor. So if I have to replace it every 18 months I’ll still come out a head. I really like the granularity of the flow control. You are able to control in one watt increments which also you to perfectly dial in the flow to achieve a full siphon. The unit is much quieter than I expected. I feel it is quieter than the Ecotech. I was very surprised by the flow rate and the ability to handle head pressure. I have dual 1.5” returns connected via a tee. The returns have 6 feet of head pressure and I’m getting will over 4,200 GPH at 90% power. The unit runs surprisingly cool. The pumps on my submersible media reactor general more heat than this pump. The app is not pretty to look at but does the job well. I wish they offered an API so I could use it in Home Assistant. It is important to note the fittings are European sizing and my require a little extra work to perfectly fit some US PVC. Overall I recommend the unit.
