Evans heads are excellent
This is my second set of Evans Hydraulic heads. I have been playing drums for 56 years and believe these heads are some of the very best. Depending on the venue I like to have my toms dampened. Hydraulic heads give a crisp heavy sound without manually damping. Used my first Evans hydraulic heads on a maple set of drums with a lot of success. During the past 10 years I have been playing a birch set of drums for most of my gigs and these heads have made a world of difference in the sound I have been wanting. Can't beat these heads!

I REALLY dig these heads!!
I put these on all four of my toms with the Evans Reso 7s and after using the Tune-Bot to help tune them all to a very low sound, which took me about an hour or two swaping heads and tuning. I tuned my toms to, 10" B, 12" G, 14" D#, & 16 B and they sound nice and punchy, lots of low-end, & nice attack or thud. Hacent tried them at a higher tention yet but I think I personally found the toms that were meant for me and my sound. I really like the clear Hydraulics with the Reso 7s.

Good Heads If You Like Fat Tone and Short Sustain
These are some of the most interesting, different heads I've used. They appears to be clear at first glance, but actually they have several "bubbles" all over the surface. I must clarify, they are not actual bubbles that are raised at all; the surface is smooth as any drumhead. There are just some air pockets in the oil layer between the plies, which is intentional and is not a defect. Weird, but not a bad thing. The sound? Warm, with short sustain. Remo Diplomats these are most definitely not. Almost a "thick" sound, IMO. Very 70's arena rock. Though I like the sound, I found it was a bit hard to get a definite tuning pitch. On the upside, however, I found that I didn't need to use Moongels, O-Rings, or any other dampener on my toms. Another plus: they are tough as nails. I've beat the crap out of these heads and they still sound the same as day one. Jazzers should stay away, but for rock, blues, and bar band drummers, these heads are great.

Not my cup of tea, but well made
I bought these hoping to reduce volume and complaining at my church and hoping they would equal my awesome Evans Clear G2 tom heads (which did need replaced). They help with volume somewhat, but they do not sound nearly as good as Evans G2's to me. I have noticed they do articulate each and every stroke much better than my G2's (could be because I'm not that great at tuning, even after 30+ years playing), but at the expense of that Bonhamesque sound I love (and my Evans J1 Etched resonant heads may contribute to that as well). But with my Etymotic ER20 earplugs in, the sound is somewhat improved enough for me to use them until I can afford another set of Evans clear G2's or EC2. One other thing, everybody at my church (congregants and fellow musicians) say they can tell a difference and love these drum heads (I guess because they don't have hardly any resonance). Between that and using my ER20's, I may learn to like them more myself, who knows? They sounded pretty darn good during a song where I do lots of very fast tom work during the bridge section, which did make me smile, I must admit; not used to each stroke being front and center - I almost sounded like Keith Moon or Neil Peart!!

Great sound quality
Instantly new this was the right buy. No more drum gum. The hydraulic fluids cancel out most of the over tones i was picking up with the mics. Before i had to use various ways to get rid of unwanted noise. These sound really warm and flat, but still produce a snappy crisp response.
