Now people can't steal my Jeep easily.
My rock crawler ignition had luckily broken in such a way that I just didn't need a key any longer to turn the ignition. This was great from the perspective of not needing to track the keys. It was awful in that anyone could have simply jumped in started my CJ7 and driven away. I decided to replace the ignition while I have the steering column removed and disassembled. This ignition fit perfectly was easy to install and has added to the security of my Jeep. No complaints.

Fits My Jeeps With GM Style Column
This cyclinder fits ALL my Jeeps with GM style square key which are 89 Jeep Wrangler, 92 Jeep Wrangler and my 91 Jeep Cherokee. The "confirm fit" says it will not fit, but its the exact replacement by the part number (51160) stamped on the cylinder on the end that goes in the column and on the 4th photo on this item. In the instalation PDF is also states it fits Jeeps (85-93). The product is solid, but a bit tight which I believe will ease after a little use. The key hole is too small to fit my key ring but easy enough to fix.

This works great in my 88 chevy box truck. Whatever you do, do not pull the collar off or disturb it. It is a major hassle to get it back together. I took mine way too far. Only remove this lick cylinder. Watch on you tube for your vehicle. It's super simple not doing anything else but replacing only lock cylinder. I lost my keys. I found them a week after a month of bs.

Worked and fit perfect on my 1989 Jeep MJ Comanche 4.0 4WD Automatic. (same as a Cherokee) Easy install... (Relatively). I was in the steering wheel column to replace my defective turn signal switch anyway... so I replaced the worn ignition switch while I was at it.
