Is this watertight/waterproof? If I get caught in heavy rain while carrying this box, will the contents get wet?

IMHO yes, it is 99% watertight/waterproof. However I have not tested it under monsoon conditions.

What are the internal dimensions? Specifically the height of the storage under the trays?

There are 4 layers including the bottom which is deeper than the other layers. Inside measurements are 14 inches by 6-1/2. When the box is opened the trays slant backwards so you can see all the contents at once. Height of storaage is 1 inch to 1-1/2 inches.

Can the main compartment be locked with a standard school locker padlock?

There’s small holes for a lock. Not sure if a standard pad lock would fit

Great for carrying art supplies

Been using this for almost four years now? Awesome. It’s super easy to use, easy to carry, and has plenty of storage space. The latch still works good after all these years of abuse I’ve put it through. The colors are accurate and low key which I like. Amazing product. Highly recommend.
