Simple, cheap and did the job for dashcam wiring
I bought this multimeter mainly to check the voltages while hardwiring my dashcam, and it worked great for that. I am not an engineer, but with a few tutorials and this tool, I was able to do the job properly. The voltage detection did exactly what I needed, and the features are enough for basic DIY use around the car or home. The instructions are there, but I think most beginners will still benefit from watching a quick tutorial first, depending on what they need to test. It is a compact size, easy to store, and good to have even if I probably will not need it again for a long time. Noise was not an issue for the way I used it. I cannot properly judge long-term durability because I only needed it for this job, but for the price it feels like a very useful tool to keep around. Overall, 5 stars from me. Cheap, simple enough to use, and it helped me complete the dashcam hardwiring without needing to pay someone else.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This Thing Turned Me Into the Electrician I Pretend to Be
This Thing Turned Me Into the Electrician I Pretend to Be” I bought this AstroAI Digital Multimeter on 14 October 2025, thinking I’d use it once and probably blow a fuse, but this little red and blue beauty has earned a permanent spot in my toolbox. I’ve used plenty of cheap meters before that felt like Fisher-Price toys, but this one? Solid, responsive, and weirdly satisfying to use. ⚙️ Build Quality Right out of the box, it feels surprisingly premium for the price. The casing has that rubberised grip so it won’t slip out your hand when you’re halfway under a sink swearing at a dodgy socket. The selector dial has a nice “click” that makes you feel like you’re doing something professional even if you’re just checking if the AA batteries in your TV remote are dead. The probes are decent quality too — firm tips, solid insulation, and they don’t feel like they’re going to snap if you sneeze near them. The little back stand on the back of the unit even holds steady on uneven surfaces (or the bonnet of your car when you’re testing the battery while pretending you know what you’re doing). 💡 Display and Features The LCD backlight is bright enough to blind a mole. You can actually see the reading in a dark garage or loft without needing to balance a torch under your chin. The numbers are crisp, big, and easy to read — no squinting, no guessing. The “Hold” button is genius. If you’re working in a tight spot and can’t see the screen, just hit Hold, crawl back out, and check the reading without losing your place (or your sanity). ⚡ Performance I’ve tested this thing on household sockets, car batteries, and random bits of wire I probably shouldn’t have touched — and it’s been spot-on every time. The readings are consistent and react instantly. Voltage, resistance, current, continuity, diodes — all work flawlessly. Continuity mode gives a satisfying “beep” that’s loud enough to hear even when there’s chaos going on. None of that faint buzz nonsense. The diode tester actually works too — I tested it on a handful of old PCBs and it gave accurate polarity readings. 🔋 Battery Life It takes two 1.5V AAAs (included, bless AstroAI). I’ve used it almost daily since buying it — checking cables, batteries, my car, even testing extension leads after a power cut — and the battery meter hasn’t budged. No weird drain, no flickering display. 🧠 Ease of Use Even if you’ve never touched a multimeter before, the markings are clear enough that you can pick it up and be testing within five minutes. The manual is actually written in understandable English — not the usual “translated by Google in 1999” kind of deal. The auto power-off (APO) saves you from the classic mistake of leaving it on overnight. It politely shuts itself down before the batteries suffer. 🔧 Real-World Use I’ve used it for: • Checking my car battery (12.46V, not bad for autumn) • Finding a dead fuse in my garage lights • Diagnosing why my bike charger was giving off smoke (spoiler: cable short) • Testing AAA/AA/9V batteries before binning them — turns out half of what I throw away still has juice 💀 And the kicker: I used it to test a 240V socket that was buzzing weirdly. Saved me from electrocuting myself. So yeah — five stars purely for that. 🧰 Verdict For the price, this is ridiculous value. It’s precise, well-built, and honestly fun to use. Whether you’re a DIYer, mechanic, or just a curious gremlin who likes to poke things with probes to see if they’re live — this thing’s perfect. ✅ Pros: • Solid build, grippy feel • Bright backlight • Accurate readings • Auto power-off • Comes with batteries (hallelujah) • Loud continuity beep • Sturdy test leads ❌ Cons: • No case included (but it fits nicely in a sock, don’t ask how I know) • Makes you start testing everything electrical in the house for no reason ⸻ Final Rating: 5/5 — Would happily buy again if I ever fry this one testing a toaster.

good basic multimeter
It is a handy, reliable tool for basic electrical checks. It gives quick readings, the display is easy to see, and the controls are simple enough for beginners. It feels lightweight but still sturdy for everyday use. Accuracy is good for general tasks like checking batteries, outlets, and continuity. Comes with a user manual. It’s not a high‑end professional meter, but for the price it's a useful addition to my home toolbox.

Simple, Accurate, and Surprisingly Reliable for Everyday Use
This AstroAI digital multimeter turned out to be a really solid tool, especially for the price. I picked it up for basic home and DIY electrical checks, and it has handled everything I’ve thrown at it without any issues. Right out of the box, it feels lightweight but well-built, not cheap or flimsy. The display is clear and easy to read, even in low light, and the dial is straightforward, which makes it beginner-friendly while still being useful for more experienced users. I’ve used it to check AC/DC voltage, resistance, continuity, and diodes, and the readings have been consistent and accurate compared to other meters I own. The continuity test responds quickly, which is something I really appreciate when tracing wires or checking connections. Measuring current and resistance is just as simple, and switching between functions is smooth with no lag. For a 2000-count meter, it provides more than enough precision for household electronics, automotive checks, and small projects. Another plus is the safety and convenience factor. The probes are decent quality, and the overall layout makes it hard to mess up if you’re paying basic attention. It’s not overloaded with unnecessary features, which actually makes it easier and faster to use. Overall, this multimeter delivers excellent value, reliable performance, and ease of use. Whether you’re a beginner learning the basics or someone who needs a dependable meter for everyday troubleshooting, this one does the job very well. Definitely deserving of a 5-star Vine review.
