UGREEN USB C to Ethernet Adapter 5Gbps, Ethernet Adapter for Laptop

I’ve been really impressed with this 5GbE adapter from UGREEN. It delivers consistently fast speeds, works flawlessly with my setup, and feels solidly made. For the price, it’s fantastic value—especially if you’re upgrading from 1GbE and don’t want to jump to the cost of full 10GbE gear. Just plug it in to a spare USB-C port and... that's it. Only wish they made a 10GbE version, but for most use cases, this hits the sweet spot. Highly recommended.

This ethernet adapter works very fast. The instructions maybe could be better as I didnt find th drive on their official web site, but with the code mencioned on the instructions I found it on another page for mac, windows and linux. Goes extremely fast, but you must know if your PC connections can achieve that speed (5Gbps), and also if your hard drive goes that speed (I have a NVME drive and USB-c thunderbolt on the pc (40Gbps). When I tried on the usb 3.0 or the USB 2.0 with an adapter for usb-c to normal usb the speed was not the expected and way slower on the usb 2.0. So, if there are no bottle necks in your PC it will work very well. I’m also using it to connect a windows PC to an imac 2020 as external display with Luna display wired option (I bought two of these devices and connected the thunderbolt 4 of the PC to the thunderbolt 3 of the imac with a cat 8 ethernet cable) and it goes very well (1ms latency and had maximum speed). It's a good product, I'm getting the same speed I get on my desktop PC (the full 5Gbps) but it's waaay better than the Wi-Fi. The product has a great quality, very well built. It could be some type of settings, so nothing to do with the seller. It's a fair price, would super recommend it.

2 Stars as it does the bare minimum of working.... however.... Speed wise it's exceptionally dissapointing, I stuck with Ugreen after using a 2.5gbe adapter which hit that absolutely no sweat across my network and happily chugged along. This device however barely hits 1gbps on the exact same network less than half the speed the other lower specced adapter hits, I'm plugging in to a USB 4.0 port so should have more than enough bandwith, all in all just very dissapointing Considering you can get 1gbe adapters at a fraction of the cost the value for money is atrocious as well... all in all very very dissapointed

This is a nicely made item, with a sturdy aluminum metal case (to help dissipate the heat from the 5G adapter chip) and a good quality (braided) USB-C cable which should last a long time. HOWEVER, contrary to the item listing, the item DOES require a driver. The supplied instructions provide an official UGREEN url to download this from. You need to search for UGREEN product "CM848" (in capitals - it doesn't recognize "cm848"). And the only driver currently (March 2026) there is for Windows 11. :-( After a bit of investigation I found that this UGREEN adapter uses the Realtek 8157 chip, and (on Realtek's own driver download page) there are versions of the correct driver for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. Also Linux (up to kernel 6.17) and MAC OS 10.8-10.15. (Amazon don't like links included in reviews, so you'll have to find this page yourself) I've only downloaded and installed the Windows 10 driver myself, so I can only confirm that one actually works OK. However, as all these drivers are produced by the 8157 chip's manufacturer, there's no reason to suspect the other drivers won't work too. Quite why UGREEN have failed to included all these other drivers on their own driver download page is a mystery. One other thing to note: the Realtek 8157 chip supports MDI/MDI-X: which means you can directly connect this network adapter to another using a normal ethernet cable (without using a hub, switch or cross-over cable). Assuming you know how to configure the network connection, this provides a very fast way to link two devices directly together.

L'adaptateur a été reconnu nativement et immédiatement par MacOS, les débits que j'ai obtenu sont tout a fait conforme (plus de 4gbps), il est relativement compact et ne chauffe pas.

Works as intended on both Linux and Windows hosts. Note that the realistic throughput would depend on what USB port can deliver and what the network and do. Uploading terabytes of data from my older Thinkpads at 350 MB/sec (2.8 Gbps) without a hitch. Up/down iperf3 throughput with modern Thinkpad was 4.6/3.8 Gbps easily. Gets a bit hot under heavy use.

I tested this adapter with iperf3 and the real throughput is around 4.73 Gbps, which is very good for a USB 5Gb adapter. The performance itself is solid. However, there is no driver included in the package, and there is also no driver available on the UGREEN website. I had to search for the driver manually through Google, which was inconvenient and shouldn’t be necessary for a new product. Because of the missing driver support, I would take off half a star.
