Sun2Solar Clear 4 ft x 8 ft Rectangle Solar Cover | 16 Mil | Heat Retaining

This was our first time using a solar cover. After lots of research, we selected the 16 mil clear cover for a pool 30 x 14 odd shaped pool. It definitely made a difference with keeping the heat in for early June and mid-September to extend the pool season, and on the nights when the temperatures drop into the 60's in southern Delaware. It also helps with debris such as after a storm. It was easy to cut to the shape of the pool, and we do have a reel to take it on/off. Unfortunately, the plastic started breaking down after 3 years. Again, after lots of research, this seems to be the common life expectancy of plastic solar covers. Customer support was terrific in educating us on the environmental factors that contribute to the fraying plastic, and couldn't have been more helpful in selecting a new cover. Highly recommend.

We purchased this cover two years ago. It does a great job of heating the pool, retaining heat at night, and minimizing water loss. Unfortunately, when we were covering the pool last night, the cover split alongside one of the seams, and began tearing outward. Perhaps a factory defect. We left a message for the seller last night and received a reply first thing this morning. Customer Service was amazing. Product was still under warranty. Seller honored this. So despite the product tearing, I'm still giving five stars because the cover did what it was supposed to and the seller made good on the warranty.

This product is garbage. If I could have given no star for this product I would have. I spent a lot of time reading reviews for this product and others this one offered a 7 year warranty (sounds to good to be true? It is) it also guaranteed that it would stand up to the UV rays, (which is exactly what I was looking for already knowing our sun is very harsh on things) so after hours & hours of reserch I went with this product because of the amazing warranty. Well DON'T be FOOLED like we were. In the description it talks about if you need to cut to resize to fit your pool don't worry it will still be covered under warranty but it says nothing about needing to take pictures if product doesn't hold up like they say. Ours stared falling apart after just a couple of months use at first the bubbles starting falling into the water so we were having to net them trying to keep them from going into the filter then the whole thing starting getting brittle. Mind you we did not cover the pool every day because we didn't need it on the warm days (and most of our summer is warm) so it stayed rolled up out of the water. When we were putting the pool up for the season that is when we realized how bad this solar cover really was definitley not able to use again and had to throw it straight into the trash. Once I finally got ahold of the selling company she told me they needed pictures before they can determine if they will replace the product and then she started making comments like some consumers don't take care of their product like putting in to much chemicals when I assured her that my husband tested our water often and knows what he is doing with the chemicals and has for years (now I am thinking they are going to just find me at fault no matter what). I then asked if I could get a refund because I would not want to go through all that trouble again with a product that just falls apart and causes me extra work they said the most they could do is ship me another one. I told her no thank you it is garbage they are selling. I very rarely complain about what I buy if it doesn't work but I don't want to see someone else waist their money or time on this product I also don't see how others gave more than 1 star unless they reviewed within a couple of weeks after using this product. Sorry I don't have photos to attach it was falling apart so bad we put it straight into the garbage can and didn't think to take any photos. AGAIN SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME.

This is my second 16 Mil rectangle crystal clear 18'x36' cover from Sun2Solar. It holds up great year 1, by year 2 you will notice it becomes brittle and tears, and by year 3, it is time to replace the cover. The warranty is worthless. I tried to use the warranty the first time and after hunting all over for the company phone number, I was turned down - same story with multiple other customers - just search "warranty" on the reviews and you'll see not worth your time to call. Despite this, I paid full price for a second cover 3 years ago, and now it is time to replace that. I think 3 years is actually a reasonable lifespan for a $135 cover on a pool with significant sun exposure through the year in Southern CA. The cover is is fairly well built and thick, better than what I found at local pool stores, with significantly lower cost. It does a fantastic job of heating the pool water, extending our swim season for a couple of months. It is fairly easy to move on an off - use 2 people for this especially years 2 and 3 when cover becomes brittle and tears more easily. The clear looks better than blue and it does a better job of heating the water with more sun getting through. Since there are not other good options I could find in this price range, I think this is a decent product for the price. I plan on buying another one now to replace my second one which has become brittle and torn. I'll probably be buying another one of these again in 3 years unless I can find a better rated one on Amazon at this price. Yet to me, 3 years is a reasonable life expectancy for this outdoor solar blanket in Southern CA at this price point.

This solar blanket is well made. Appreciate that sides are finished and not just cut to size. Thickness allows for ease of rolling and unrolling. Highly recommend. I typically replace lesser quality covers annually, but like the quality of this one so much, invested in a cover to help extend its life.

Easy to cut to size, sturdy, and best of all, it really helps keep our pool warm and prevents the chlorine from disappearing so quickly in the sun. We’ve noticed that if we forget to put the cover on, our chlorine can be gone by the end of the day. I would definitely recommend buying a manual reel to go with it, especially for a larger pool. I can see how the cover could become a hassle to pull off and fold up by hand every time, which might make you less likely to use it. With a reel, it’s quick and easy. Overall, it works like a charm and has been well worth it!

This is my third Sun2Solar cover. The first two were the 1200 series. They worked great, but only lasted about two seasons. If you weren't paying attention and used them too long, they'd break down and shed lots of tiny pieces of plastic. This time I thought I'd pay a little more and try the 1600 series. Bad idea. Along with being thicker, it's heavier and more difficult to handle, the creases from when it was folded and shipped have not fully come out, and most problematic, it lacks the buoyancy of the 1200 series. What that means is there's standing water on the surface which grows algae, no matter how perfect the pool's chemistry is. This review is not intended to bash covers in general. The water savings and heat gain are amazing. Those features definitely make the appearance and inconvenience of a covered pool worthwhile. It's just that the 1600 seems to need larger bubbles to keep it from sinking into the pool. Finally, it's good to see the brand is no longer promoting a 5-year warranty. Maybe that would have worked if the cover is only used for a month or two each year. Now with some history with the product, my expectation is that it will last for two 6-month seasons on a well-balanced salt pool in southern California. It's still a great value considering heating and water cost savings, but I will be going back to the 1200 series.

End of day 2. Feels premium and has a decent 10 year warranty with covered percentage tapering over the course, but the first few years are fully covered. Overnight it’s cut the losses to 0.134f per hour, so about 1.1f lost In my windy part of SoCal. Normal loss at this time of year would be about ~4f. During the day it’s gaining at 0.28f per hour or 3.6f per day but it’s only March and I added cold water both days I’ve had it on to get the level up. I cut it to shape for my kidney shaped pool to get it lay flat and not blow off, was reasonably easy. It doesn’t feel like it will turn to plastic confetti as quickly as the last one but SoCal sun and salt water are harsh. Edit- 5/3/2026 update from Claude after logging my pool thermometer to home assistant. Your cover is doing a great job. Here’s the rundown: • Peak (late afternoon yesterday): 81.3°F • Current low: 78.6°F • Overnight loss: ~2.7°F over ~14 hours With air at 56°F, you’ve got roughly a 25°F differential between water and air — that’s a lot of driving force for heat loss. Losing only ~0.2°F/hr under those conditions is solid solar cover performance. Uncovered, you’d typically see 4–8°F of loss overnight at that differential. Cooling rate also flattened as the night went on (steeper drop in the early evening, then leveling out toward dawn), which is the expected curve when the cover is sealing well — radiative + evaporative losses get suppressed and you’re mostly left with slow conductive loss.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Bottom line: cover is sealed and earning its keep. If you want to track this more rigorously, the metric to watch is °F lost per °F differential per hour — anything under ~0.01 (you’re at ~0.008) is good cover territory.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
