Sweet Salty and Savory
SPAM is one of those foods that you either like or hate - and I would be willing to bet for those of us that love it there is a strong emotional connection like eating it on the weekends as a young child with your family when there was more time to prepare and enjoy a big breakfast. Original SPAM is definitely a savory food with pleasant saltiness (although some may argue too much salt - so there is LITE or Reduced Sodium) making it similar in many ways to bacon, sausage, or even a ham steak and their respective food pairings. But the Tocino flavorings give it a subtle sweetness to balance the saltiness savouriness so it's a little less "aggressive" in its flavor profile and allows you to use it more ways. For example, I really find this to be superior in fried rice, gumbo soups or sauteed with vegetables (like broccoli and garlic). It reminds me of the sweet sausage you buy in the Asian supermarkets - just not as firm. I often eat thinly sliced SPAM from the can like spiced ham and the Tocino flavoring works nicely with a gouda, cheddar, and my favorite Havarti. When I do cook it, I pan fry it in a non-stick skillet with no water (as recommended) or oil. It takes a little longer than the original to get a good browning - but it's worth wait. Unfortunately, my local supermarket only carries Original, LITE, Bacon and Hickory - so I'm glad Amazon carries it. But why is it two to three times the cost of the other varieties? Regardless, I still buy it now and then - it makes me happy and reminds me of foods I've enjoyed with Filipino friends.

Great Flavor
I prefer the taste of it after it’s been fried and it only takes a few minutes to brown due to the sugar content. So, when cooking don’t walk away or you will burn it. It is on the sweet side but if you have ever had the pleasure of eating sizzling bacon (which I loved back in the day) it actually tastes kind of similar to that. It is very tasty. Just wish it was easier to find and didn’t cost so much. It did arrive in a paper bag but it was not damaged in any way. Would buy again if I could find it cheaper

Buyer beware, not as shelf stable as you think.
Fast shipping but poor quality. Typical spam has an average shelf life of 2-5years. The can I received from this seller expires 1yr after purchase in June of 2027. Spam should be more shelf stable than this and at this price point you’re not getting what you’re paying for by any means. Do not recommend.

It really does taste like Tocino! Masarap!
Update: Got my aunt in Las Vegas to mail me cans $5/each from Filipino store there. Wish it was sold locally. I love this product! Initially, I was skeptical it would be salty just like SPAM is known for but it was sweet and tasted like tocino! I cooked half exactly per the instructions, with water, ( it takes longer bc you have to wait for the water to reduce but is WAY more flavorful this way). The other half I sliced and fried. It’s faster this way if you’re in a hurry but the flavor is meh in my opinion compared to the recommended way with water. Eat this with a poached egg, garlic fried rice, salted tomatoes, and its so delicious! Awesome if you don’t have tocino on hand and so convenient to pull out of the pantry to satisfy your craving! Update: $24/can??!! I bought this last year at about $6/can which was already expensive! I loved it so much I wanted to buy more but not at this price!

Great alternative to the real tocino
The taste is very close to the real Filipino tocino. Being able to buy in bulk with Amazon helps when the nearest Asian store is an hour away! Giving it 4 stars because it doesn’t replace the real thing, but it’s pretty damn close

By leaps and bounds, the best spam I’ve ever had
This spam is absolutely delicious. Way way way less salty than traditional spam. Has a nice sweetness to it. The texture is much more enjoyable. All in all this is a solid 10 out of 10 product. Wish it was easier to find locally because 12+ dollars a can is pretty expensive.

Expensive
Is what it is. Don't be a dummy luke me and look at the picture thinking I was getting 3 cans, just 1, very expensive. Be the last can of this flavor I buy for that price.

IM A SPAM FAN
Excellent and very different flavor, my wife even liked it and she don't like anything. Kind of a sweet flavor and not spicy. At my last count there are 15 different flavors. I think with this purchase I have run the wheel of Spam flavors. I was going to reorder but I see the price was jacked up to $9.00. Its good but not that good. I didn't check my order but I think I paid $5something which is too much but I still would have got a couple of cans for myself and a couple for gifts as Spam is a funny gift....NOT TODAY
